    We have a 20 Bbl ABE brewhouse, which gives us the ability to get through 3 turns a day. Usually 4 hours a turn, but sometimes it can be a little longer depending on the beer we are making. Out of our 9 fermenters only 3 of them are 60 bbls, so triple brew days aren't everyday (thankgod). Just thought I'd share. Love your videos. I watched a few about a year ago when I first started at the brewery I am at now. It's my first ever brewer gig and I have no prior experience in the industry, and therefore am thankful that I found your videos for they truly helped me understand the general overall process of brewing. Even though every single brewery and microbrewery do things a little bit different, making beer is making beer. Cheers 🍻

    Hey Jasper, Thanks for my own private tour of your brewhouse. Your awesome for taking the time to show us the nooks and crannies of the brewing system. The manifold system you have to control flows is really cool. I understand what your saying about labels on the valves -if you don't know what you're doing, then don't touch it!- but on early brew days and maybe a cup of coffee short, it might be nice to have a reminder - Ha! Thanks again for the look over your shoulder view of operations. I hope to get up there one day soon to say "Hi" and enjoy a brew with you. Cheers, from CO Springs, CO.

    very cool jasper ! I really appreciate the ability to see what a real brewhouse looks like . I think when you homebrew..even if you have a similar basic system ...you really do not understand what a big leap it is to go into a commercial system . It is actually kind of intimidating in a way....kind of like the more you learn ..the more you realize how much you really don't know ! Thanks for these vids...keep it up,,,they are really appreciated out in the homebrewer world!

    Wow. Learned a lot. I’m still very new at this. Do you have a video of actually brewing to get an idea of the real thing. I know it takes 5+ hours to brew. But maybe short videos combined in to 1.

      Yes I'm very happy with this,
      It's a great pub system but I wouldn't recommend for a production brewhouse. Has industry standard efficiencys.

    Loving your videos bro - was looking at Premier at CBC this year and was really impressed with their finish quality. You really shoe horned that puppy into your space ! Do you find the lack on head space on the brew platform a pain ? (hopefully not to literally !)

      Good question! The stacked mash tun is sitting high enough above the kettle fill volume to allow for gravity to fill kettle (No need for grant/pump), Cheers!

    Why is the HLT on the bottom? Just for ease of adding grain at the top? Seems like it being on the top would allow gravity feeding the hot liquor.

      The stacked brewhouse structure generally with Mash/lauter tun on top, with whirlpool tun or HLT at bottom. Compard with the common two vessel with separated HLT, this strcture need smaller footprint, that could help to save space, but need higher ceiling. For the 10bbl brewhouse, the MLT generally with motor (for grain rake) on top of the tank. Besides, the MLT need to installed with grist silo or hydrator etc, these things would be not easy if with MLT at bottom.

    what are the pros and cons to having a stacked mash/hot liquor tun verses a separate hot liquor tank? which do you prefer? I've never used a stacked.

      The major pro of stacked MT/HLT are the smaller footprint they take up. (More room for tables in a pub). Other pros are, The heat from the HLT actually preheats the MT above it. Also it is in close proximity of the MT, so losing heat from hoses during strike temp in minimal.
      Pros of a separate HLT, Major, is it can hold a larger volume. This makes multiple batches in a day easier. It is independent of Brewhouse, if BH needs to be turned off youll still have HL. It can be installed in a different room of the brewery.
      They're both awesome, I guess I prefer a stacked setup simply because I enjoy Pub brewing and I choose not to be a production brewer. However this is not a concrete rule (staked can be used for production and separate can be used for pubs). Cheers!

      Thanks. This is a Premier Stainless brewhouse. There are companies that will come design and set up breweries. Personally I have been upgrading parts since I've opened and doing everything myself. Total cost of plant is hard to say because it combines commercial real estate. I would recommend contacting Premier, they can give you a quote and set you up with any total all in one package you would be interested in. Hope this helps, Cheers

    Great channel Jasper! I've got some questions for youu: what's the total surface area of your brewery? how many FVs and BBT do you have? Are those unitanks to use also to carbonate beer? Thanks!

      For a turnkey 10bbl system included grain miller, two vessel brewhouse unit, 4x10bbl fermenters, the glycol system (both of GWT and chillers), control unit and CIP cart. It would need at least 70~80M2. Absolutly if you plan to have more fermenters, brite tanks or plan to do bottling or kegging etc, more space should be on site. We have ever desgined different types of brewery layout according to our customers' location, if you need, we can share some with you as reference.
      For the fermenters, some brewers prefer to have carbonation and leveling glass, as it could help to have a better beer brewing experience. But some brewers do not like to have these devices considering of a higher sanitary level. You know the less dead corner, the better for fermenters.     After you mix grains and water in the mash tun, do I have to open the stiring function at all time? would that increase the efficiency and would that cause me hard to withdraw the wort after the process if I keep stiring it at all time?

      Generally speaking, there is no specific rules for stiring during mashing. But mostly of the brewers prefer to keep stiring during feeding and during temperature raising process. When you start counting, it is available to keep the agitator still, you know the stiring may increase the content of NHF that would cause difficulty in the next lautering process. But there are a few of brewers in Europe especially in germany prefer to keep stiring since feeding until the sparging finished, absolutely the rotating speed must be slow enough.       Thanks for watching! A batch takes around 6hrs. However with prep and final cleaning, brewdays are around 9hrs long. It is possible to do 2 batches/day but for one person it would be a lot of work on this brewhouse. Hot water usage needs to be thought about more as well. Cheers!

    I have a question: how do you get to the run off temp after you are done mashing?

      The mash tun temp sensor will show how 170F sparge water is moving through the bed. The Kettle temp sensor will show the temp of the collected wort. Also a sample valve on the mash tun drain can be used to collect a sample and check temp. Cheers!

      I start wort separation (filtration) right away. Sparge water added later during wort separation heats up the mash.

    Very nice video. Nice brew haus, however you say "wart" Wart is a growth on your skin. Wort (Pronounced wert, by people who care about industry lingo) is the sweet hot liquor that is derived from the mashing process. Lets clean it up bro, and teach people correctly!
