- Hier eine kleine Anleitung zum Upgraden des Dell E6420 mit i5 zu einem i7.

hi, i doubt you will answer this, but i have no one else to ask, i wanted to know, if i change the processor, will the integrated graphics be changed? or if not, is there a way to change them? sorry, i don't know much about laptops.

Thank you for the video. I have two questions.
1. Did you have to update bios on your laptop for this CPU to be functional/supported by the laptop?
2. Did you have to upgrade your A/C adapter since i7 is 45W and i5 is 35W?

Thanks man, I've just upgraded my latitude right now based on this precious vid, and made success! :) BUT! The temp of the cpu goes between 61-84 celsius degrees, so the cooling system is obviosly weak for this job. Any idea how to increase the cooling? Thanks

Yes, unfortunately that is the weak point.
My temperatures are just as high as yours, easily up to 90°C.

Hello, can you tell me if my i5 2410m cpu is replaceable with i7 2670qm ? In Intel's page there's minor socket differency but you seem just doing fine. (My motherboard has HM65 chipset.)
Unfortunately I can't answer that, my Dell was marked as compatible...

do as I did: install an i7-2760qm processor, and to avoid overheating, turn off turbo boost on the i7 processor. Got 4 cores, 8 threads and a frequency of 2.4 GHz. The processor has an operating temperature of 50-75*C. The processor works quickly in tasks, because it also installed a SSD Team Group EX2 512GB and RAM 16GB (Hynix 8+8 DDR3-1600 1.5v 2R*8) in the laptop (chipset HM65)

Absolutely. Swapped it without no problem and I didn’t need to setup anything, it just worked right out of the box. I use my laptop for music production and the VST effects use a roughly 35-40% less CPU power, (things that used 5% now use around 3% I guess.)

According to my tests by at least 45% and in core-intensive applications 50%+ due to the better architecture... 😉
@@borstelapo Would you say that it would be worth to upgrade just for browsing? The upgrade would cost me around 35€ and I'm not sure if that is worth for this old machine. It's working quite ok since I upgraded the RAM to 8GB.

Die Stärkste CPU war der I7 2860QM von Werk aus. Denke das Hat mit der TDP und dem Kühlsystem zu tun. Bin gerade auch dabei mein alten E6420 wieder Flott zu Machen. Hinzu kommt noch das der 3720 ein I7 der Dritten Generation ist und Nicht der Zweiten.

@@borstelapo eigentlich doch weil auf eBay steht ja sogar Socket g2 eiso passt es.
No va a jalar y todo es por la versión del chipset, en algunas laptop si funciona un CPU de tercera generación. Pero en esta latitude e6420 no funciona. Puedes correr el CPU Z en tu equipo, ahí puedes checar que chipset tiene tu equipo

I can't say for sure how it works in continuous use, as this computer usually only runs for 1-2 hours at a time.

Que onda con el tdp no pasa nada con oa bateria ni con lo que se calien por que el que yienes es de 35 y el nuevo es de 45
He monitoreado la temperatura elevada y no he encontrado ningún problema.
La batería aguanta, pero la refrigeración está al límite... ¡eso debe quedar claro para todos!
El sistema ha estado funcionando sin problemas para mí desde la conversión.

Der Akku kann das ab, aber die Kühlung ist am Limit... das muss jedem klar sein!
Bei mir läuft das System Störungsfrei seit dem Umbau.
