    Thank you so much for this video. I was at my wits end with not many "good" options for learning. Your video was so helpful, clear and concise and exactly what I needed.

    Awesome! I'm a dentist and I used to edit my dental photos in pixelmator, because I was afraid of Lightroom, lol. Now I guess I'll have a go with Lightroom. Thank you for the tips. We need more!

    This was the most comprehensive overview of a Lightroom workflow I've seen. I started using LR a few weeks ago and felt like I had a good handle on how things work but I learned several things here that are going to be the crux of my workflow from now on ...thank you.

    This was a terrific start to learning lightroom .. I am somewhat impatient to learn the basics and fiddle around a bit without needing to watch hours of training for it. ! ( Or putting it on x2 speed, which makes it harder to learn!)
    Thank you sooooo much!

      Hi Evan. Lightroom comes with Photoshop (and Bridge) when you get Photoshop CC (the monthly subscription) for 10.00 a month (it's actually a really good deal!)

    One quick question...what happens to the original file? Is is overwritten when you "develop" it? Should you make a copy first to keep - and work on the copy, to be able to come back to the original file again later? Thank`s

    can i ask 2 questions?
    1) my camera shoots raw with 12 bits per channel, when i'm importing files into lightroom converting them to dng will the channels keep being at 12 bits or they will become 8 bit?
    2) can Lightroom exports jpeg (or other forms) with more than 8 bits/channel or they will be reduced at 8 bits per channel?
    thanks!

    • @photoshopcafe
      @photoshopcafe  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      1. Yes, it can support up to 16 bits per channel
      2. No, jpg can only be 8 bit, limitation of the format. You can export tifs in 16 bit though and DNG

    why when I exported 20 pictures into one of my folders instead of 20 pics 40 pics were exported? I deleted the 40 pics from the folder and did it again and one more time 40 pics showed up.

    • @photoshopcafe
      @photoshopcafe  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      possibly have 2 export presets selected? Or to copy the origanal? Check export settings

    hi, where can i buy a lightroom software from a CD stand alone format? thanks

    • @ElissaJoyShames
      @ElissaJoyShames 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know that you can buy one like that anymore. Adobe has gone the subscription model route.

    • @evanthonypaglinawan
      @evanthonypaglinawan 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah, before maybe year 2010 u can still buy software in a CD. So now i need a monthly subscription to use Lr? thanks

    • @ElissaJoyShames
      @ElissaJoyShames 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Evan Paglinawan true.. no more Hard copies (which may have also something to do with no more disc drives in computers.) However, the full Photoshop price in hard copy was really prohibitive to purchase then, and it did not include Lr. Now you get both. And they do the updates to make it better without you needing to buy a new copy.
      So in some ways it is a win.

    • @evanthonypaglinawan
      @evanthonypaglinawan 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ms. Elissa, thanks for the info, i guess thats the only way now is to do subscription. thanks again and more power.

    What's a catalog in Lightroom?

  • @scout4locations
    @scout4locations 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I thought this was a video for Lightroom beginners. There is a lot to know before the author gets to the point where this video begins. First off, are the instructions shown here different between PC and Mac? Well, OF COURSE they are. Why isn't that mentioned? 90 % of the world uses PC's. Assumption #1.

  • @scout4locations
    @scout4locations 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    The video is grainy, thus making the text unreadable and I can't see what he is doing with the keyboard. And he is rushing his presentation. Maybe if he had taken more time to make the video. Maybe on a day that he wasn't in a rush.
    TH-cam presenters need to think about things like sharpness and what's visible. Not every one has the best vision and are not all watching on the best screen resolution. And since we are all beginners and not all-seeing or Omnipotent, we don't know what is happening off-screen at the keyboard.
