I am _so_ thankful for DEXA scans! I have them every 3 months and while I have tons of loose skin, and I mean a LOT of it, my muscle mass has actually grown. I work _hard_ to maintain what I have. It looks like I have lost muscle on the outside because I have lost 236 lbs, but I am proud of my hard work paying off. I am 63 and easily did your sit and stand test in 15 seconds. I actually did 6 ups and downs! You are awesome and I do so love your shows. Your humor and kindness shine through. Thank you!
Haha! Your videos are always entertaining as well as informative! Thanks for the chuckles and the explaining 💜I'm going to go for a walk to the chicken breast store!
Can you, please please please. Talk about the Glp-1 medications stigma and shaming? I work at the hospital as a PCT and I told a doctor who I was covering that I’m taking mounjaro, and she said you should not lose weight because of the loose skin you would look better being overweight with no loose skin than be skinny with loose skin :/!! She also was rambling and saying that everyone could lose weight but people who use it lack will power 😅 she honestly made me so angry and upset because of how close minded she was. Like people don’t care about any medication you would take and the side effects but somehow theu care for you, because it changes your appearance and make you look better? Please talk about it I dont see enough people covering this topic Much appreciated ❤
I totally understand you @Sunshine-yv6di! I got so tired of listening to people be nasty, I wrote a post called "101 GLP-Shaming Responses." It's in my blog (my username .com) and I hope it gives you some great retorts. If you have more, let me know and I will add them! Also, that doctor needs some serious re-training. He has clearly not read the research, read the medical journals, or read Care Provider to Care Provider articles and discussions as the Doctors, Midwives, and Nurse-Practioners comment and share their experiences in clinic. There is _so_ much information out there. Goodness, I hope he isn't _your_ doctor! And I have loose skin and don't give one crap about it. That someone puts skin over one's labs and health is just crazy. And a doctor, no less? I have tons of loose skin, but I have lost 236 lbs so far. My labs are pristine, I am out of wheelchairs and not using walkers... but walking 3+ miles a day and am living a life I never imagined at over 400 lbs. I'll take the hanging drapes! (Wouldn't it be a hoot to run into that doctor?) I actually had a shirt made that says on the front, "Don't Mind My Arms" and on the back it says, "I have lost over 230 lbs. on Mounjaro." Sometimes, I know I am talking to myself because I did grow up in this culture and we're not supposed to have saggy arms, but I am holding my head high, even when I feel self-conscious. I want to be an example for others who have floppy arms.
To be frank, that doctor is an idiot. In addition to following Dr. Dan, who has wonderful content, search up the podcasts by Dr. Francavilla and Dr. Weiner with Pound of Cure. I think you will find what you are looking for.
I'm so sorry that happened to you. I agree with the other commenters - definitely not necessary. I've touched on the stigma and shaming in the past, but never in an in-depth way. I will definitely add it to my list!
I am 50 and on a "getting healthier for my old age" journey and gaining muscle really is my priority. The fat loss will come with it on it's own I recon. Thanks for the confirm- and information and also for the protein calculator. 😎
@@theofficialdrdan Thanks again. The calculator is neat. And although I don't see myself actually calculating my protein intake on a daily base, I now know, that I don't have to be skimpy with it, like - at all. 😎 So, I'll amp up my ante on buttermilk, kefir, hummus etc. in the future, esp. after work outs and more power to me, cause they're delish. 😋
Thanks for watching!

Well, even some doctors can be poorly-informed and ignorant on some topics.
Sad but true. 🤷🏼♂️

What about TRT and Monjaro together?
Is this animal protein only?
Any kind of protein!
Is the only way to preserve lean muscle lifting weights or what if you walk a couple hours a day?
Walking is great but it doesn't do anything for the upper body.
