It's one of the best looking crytal chamber i've seen so far ! Very good job on the weathering and the little detail. I'm gonna have to destroy all the dead hard drive i own now !
BEAUTIFUL work mate! i love the "found/re-purposed parts" design, verryyy OT. I'm going to be doing something very similar in the near future for my graflex i am getting! Seeing how beautiful your chassis is gives me a lot of encouragement and inspiration! if you ever do another build you should document the build process. From looking at this, knowing you did this yourself with limited tools, you have a LOT of talent. like another comment said: "It's one of the best looking crystal chambers I've seen so far!"
Do you have a hobby lobby or true value near you? If so, search for K&S metals. They have tubes and rods in various sizes...similar to this www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Hobbies-Collecting/Tools-Blades/Assorted-Brass-Soft-Bendable-Metal-Tubes/p/59087 For the spacers, go to Etsy and look up “brass tube beads” or “brass spacer beads”. Lots of different styles and sizes. The fins were part of a limited run by Darklyte customs on Etsy. He has size closed up shop.
Not sure if you'll get this or not, but I'm curious what tool you used to bend your copper tubing or rod? I was thinking about doing something similar on a chamber build.
All of the circular parts and discs were either from hard drives or were purchased that way and modified to fit (holes drilled, etc). Once I knew the max diameter (1.25") for the chassis it was a matter of finding the right parts.
Awesome chamber, man, seen pictures of this turning up in searches and on the TCSS forums :D I was curious, though, how sturdy are chambers particularly, and other chassis with the two support rods?
Thanks. Ideally I'd have a 3rd rod but this is about compromise. I just couldn't fit it all it. But tightening everything down with tools helps tremendously. Plus most of the heavier items are near the center if the hilt. And the battery isn't in the CC but in the grip of the hilt. Overall it is solid but I don't duel and is more for display and light twirling so I do not stress it like others may.
zjunlimited ohhyeah, cool cool :) So, three's the way to go for a duelling saber, you reckon? Not got the greatest revenue, so I'm going for as close to doing it all I can get :P
Well crystal chambers in general do not hold up well for heavy dueling. For that, a simple delrin or 3D printed chassis to hold the board, battery, speaker, etc is better and more reliable. Good luck and please share when you are done

could you do a titorial of how to build a cristal chamber like that whith the chasis pleas?
Beautiful!
What did you do to bend the copper U shape rod? I can never find copper rod tutorials for detailing.
Needle nose pliers
Man can you do a video or shoot the links on places where to find materials to make Crystal chamber. I'm finding it nearly impossible.

I used needle nose pliers. I have the standard kind from Craftsman but also some smaller, jewelers pliers without the teeth.
how did you round off everything without a lathe
