Thanks very much indeed for sharing this instructional tutorial video. I've just been given a lovely Bang & Olufsen Beomaster 5000 System consisting of Beomaster 5000. Beocord 5000. Beogram Cd 50. Beogram 5000. Beogram Master Control Panel 5000 & Finally Bang & Olufsen Redline 60-6503. They are excellent visually. Near mint. However something is rattling around inside. & From my enquiries it's the passive radiator. I'll refoam the others tweeter etc whilst I'm in there performing surgery. Anyways thanks. At least now i know how to get in there. Untouched since 1984 im lead to believe.

The rl60 using foam surrounds and a passive membrane. The passive membelrane needs to be removed. I have rl60.2 ( with rubber surrounds). Im gonna redo my rl140's but im gonna choose rubber and not foam. Or you can redo it in 15y again. Beogram cd50 sounding very good, despite the special dac (BurrBrown PCM53JP-V)

You should have removed the outer ring first before the applying the outer foamring.

Blows my mind how you skipped the important details and take up most of the video just glueing. No help

Thanks for sharing the process, super helpful. May I ask what amplifier you are using with them? Do you like the sound?

      Hi
Thanks you;). If you can check my other video you can find my small 12au7a valve amplifiers. It has small power but the sound is really pretty and cute. Of course if you will connect powerful amp, it creates solid and deep sound. Cheers HL

Oh, and 1 more thing. What are your thought on rubber versus foam? I found out that it's 6.5". I did find a lot of kits searching Google most with foam.

Nice video. Didn’t you glue the outer rim on the surrounds?

Thanks. I did. I forgot to take flim it :( . You would gently lift a paper bracket by a flat head screw driver and glue between the paper and the speaker driver edge. It is not that difficult. Let me know if you have any questions. Cheers

I have the Rl7000 series. Since a few moths the speakers sound like cracking speakers. Can this be the cause? Or did i just blew them up?

What size are the speakers that you are replacing the surround with rubber? Also, where did you get the kit for the rubber and glue?

@@petergrn4902 Oh yes now I remember. I did not know I have to detach a hard black cardboard like outer rim so I glued on the black rim :( mistake. so of course it didn’t fit in so I removed the glue immediately and removed black outer rim by sharp knife (which I forgot to film it) and glued metal part and covered by the black outer rim. It wasn’t that difficult for me Actually, my case it was quite easy to do.

@@hyuntaiklim8233 Thank you for your reply. When I had to remove the outer fibreboard - it was hard like "stone". Tried to use a scalpel and sharp Stanley knife without luck - had to use a chisel in the end (destroying the fiberboard). Centering when gluing the outer rim - I used the battery method to some extent.

@petergrn4902 For me was that difficult. Like detached hard cardboard? Anyway I hope you had no mistake.

Hi, how are you satisfied with your speakers? I am thinking of buying one used that needs refoaming for 130€.

Hi, I would say it has very good and well balanced speaker. I used have JBL L65, JBL 4344 , Proac response 1.5 and 2.5 those were very good but picky and needed good amplifier if you want proper sound and of course it was expensive. I would say I can compare sound quality with old system. This one well balanced and soild for any music and any space. You could not get any speaker with £130 budget. I think I will keep it more than 10 years. ;)

@@vedranbartula4227 Hi Verdran, No No. Old Beovox including RL140 doesn't need a powerful amplifier. That is whole point to that you don't need to invest money for expensive a power amp or a integrated amp. Beovox RL 140's efficiency has 96db as far as I remember. That is why I have played 15w small value amp with CD player those create solid bass and voice. Thesedays the modern speakers has 88db which has low efficiency compare to old speakers so you have to find best march amplifier and test sell and buy often but not this one.
Of course it cannot compare my previous system but I had under £200 budget ( I don't want to go back that audiophile era) so RL140 was top choice as a 2nd hands speakers. - it is personal opinion. Hope this reply helps to find your amplifier too. Cheers
