So glad I stumbled across this channel. I just left WV and moved back to the Lower Hudson Valley after being away for a few years thinking I was going to be missing out on the Appalachian Mountains I called home for a while and was JUST gifted a 14' canoe right before I left. Little did I know that this was the stomping grounds of guys like Nessmuk and Miller and Kephart for a while. It's good to be home. Thanks for posting the vids Robin.

I love the outdoors. All the old gear you're using is great. I know it's all about functionality, but your stuff has character too. I hope to spend more time outside soon.

Beautiful canoe. That area there reminds me of Algonquin. Beautiful. I'm casting your video's to my 47" tv to watch from the kitchen while I get my dinner ready to put in the oven.

Don't know how I missed this one. First time I heard your voice. Really enjoy your old school approach and willingness to modify your gear. The W/C canoes are my favs tho. Cheers.

Found you through Yankee Woodcraft. I have to say brother you do it right. Love the classic equipment and the fact you still use it. That's a great rifle BTW. I'm a 30-06 guy myself and love the old Remingtons (just my personal choice, they all work). That canoe is a work of art! I could keep going but will just say that I will watch all your videos and YES, I subbed ya!!

Spent some time on that Lake when at Sabattis Boy Scout Camp. Great video and love the canoe and camp set up like yours. I've been through the Adirondack Museum many times and your set up could be from 100 years ago. Thanks for sharing your time in the woods.

Robin Lauer I look forward to it. My Adirondack hunting is out of our camp near the Village of Oswegatchie but your canoe and tent takes me back in time.

This channel along with DonVonJon's (aka SorenAnker) and Adirondack Wilderness Co's videos are among those that really made me step back from social media and see what woodsmanship is really about D. AND...your vids too. The more I learn, the smaller my circle of trustees becomes. I used to be subbed to almost 1,000 channels. Now I'm down to less than a hundred. Only the best from now on.

I love seeing all the traditional gear. I think alot of people are missing out on real comfort with all these synthetics sometimes. I have both, but my traditional gear is my favorite for several reasons. If I had only one...itd be the traditional stuff for many many reasons

Hi, I’m planning a trip back to north west Ontario in late May. I don’t portages anymore, so it will be a backcountry canoe in campsite, hopefully I will have some interesting content for a video.

Sir I really look forward to that upcoming trip and sharing of your outdoor experience! I haven't done a trip since 2014 with our Ohio boy scout troop up to the Algonquin Park region. After many years of fighting a blood cancer I hope to get out somewhere this year, if only for a couple of days. Gotta find a neat canvas tent with a stove like yours! Love that setup.@@RobinLauer

Hi, I live in Maine now, the ADKs are too far but Maine offers some good canoe in deer camp opportunities. I did one solo canoe camping trip and my camera didn’t work very well. I got a new camera for next year. My daughter drew a moose tag so I helped them with some scouting trips and the hunt, they got a moose but I wasn’t in the woods with them, and it was 1/2 mile in so they cut it up and got it on ice asap, I just hung out in camp. I’m busy restoring two wood canvas canoes now, hope to have a video on them someday. Take care.

@@RobinLauer Robin congratulations on the successful moose hunt by your daughter! Its been a long time since I tasted moose. Had it when a buddy and I did the Allagash Waterway many years ago. It was delicious. Look forward to seeing the pics of your canoe restoring efforts!

Fantastic channel! You and winter trekker are my fav two canoe camping guys. Where abouts did you visit in Canada?! I'm in Ontario and I really need to adventure south to the Adirondacks sometime to enjoy your beautiful country side. I love the no music natural feel to your videos and I learn a lot from watching. Hope to see more! Cheers

O wow you have done some beautiful trips. Gonna have a look at the website tonight. I've always been a camper and woodsman but I'm new to the canoe solo camping so I have lots to learn. Starting with a canoe that won't break the bank. Thanks for the reply.

Great video, like your style. Do you bring all that gear out for a 5 day hunt? Or is this private land where you can setup for the season? Thanks!

    • @RobinLauer
      @RobinLauer  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Ben,
Yes, all my gear fits in the canoe for a 5 day hunt, it's state land in NY's Adirondacks. About a 12 mile paddle in to the site.

Love the videos, hope to start doing this when the kids are on their own...two more years of high school, I’m 59 - yes I started late. I’d love links, or product names (like the frying pan), and you can get those saws on EBay, a family run company out of Colorado is licensed by the original maker to make them. They are handing the business over to their nephew who will sell under the name Wilfong Woodworks.
