Oh my I have 2 huge cans full of them balls for hydro. I just love planting in the glass I'd never seen them used this way I gotta try it..just saved a beautiful almost dead butterfly looking one.
I like the yellow ones with a red center. My remaining orchid is in a orchid mix (pine bark etc.) I bought an orchid fertilizer (blue crystals) and dissolve some crystals in water and transfer the light blue water in a spray bottle and spray the orchid roots that are above the orchid mix two to three times a week just to wet them down. That way, only little water trickles down in the pine bark mix. So far the Phalaenopsis is doing fine.
Great video, very informative. I gave up on orchids grown in soil, but now I will try Leca and believe I will have success following your instructions . I am going to transfer my Hoya to Leca as well as I presume the Hoya behind you are in leca. Thank you for ALL your videos!!!!I like the vibrant colors, the yellow or solid red.
This is a great video/tutorial from you guys and it's the best I've seen on this subject. It's been very informative for me and I'm off to try this. Thank you so much 😍😍
Oooohh! Nice!! I grow the majority of my orchids in leca but recently did this for someone else's orchids who brought me a container with no drainage. I used lava rock instead of leca because I dont know if the owner knows about evaporative cooling of the leca etcetc. They look beautiful though! 😍
Hello there! I'm wondering how you fertilize the orchids. I have the 20 20 20 Miracle Gro spray. Should I just add some sprays to the water that's then poured in as the water reservoir? Or how many ml should I add to the water based on per gallon? Please let me know and thank you 😊
Hi there, you can add the miracle gro 20-20-20 but use it at half strength, but we are going into winter soon, so you wont need to fertilize. But in spring, March to May we recommend a 10-30-20 liquid fertilizer (we like Jacks granular that dissolves in water) and we recommend adding that liq fert mix to top of orchid jar and let it trickle down to base reservoir . Hope this helps 😀 🪴
@@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN oh, so nothing but water until March? Even though the plant is in leca with no nutrients? How many ml per gallon of water should I use the 10-30-20 in March? Same question for 20-20-20 in May 😂. Thank you 😊
Hi, we have found thaat the amount per gallon will depend on the brand you choose and measuring cup provided with their fertilizer. Follow their recommendations. Orchids dont need fertilizer in winter for the most part since light levels are lower typically (from windows door etc) and orchids just are in standby mode until spring.😀 🪴

You should add, make sure you rinse your leca and soak it for 24 hours before use.
@@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGNis this for each watering? Or once per season?

Why such large vases?
We wanted to create a dramatic effect with the tall vases, you can use smaller/shorter ones as well. 😀🪴
