They’re playing this so much faster than the record. He’s closer to 8th notes at 210 bpm. Which is absurd given how long this song is and how crazy the rest of their set is too.
FWIW, Coud Nothings tends to play it faster live than on the albums - bpm is definitely faster here. And they play this hard for 2 hours every show. The drummer mashes straight through - I'm not a drummer, but he is unreal
Jees they're tight, the way they rip the tempo of the different instruments apart into what sounds like chaos, and then suddenly all hit the same beat of the same bar at the same time, back in rhythm together, very impressive.
This is a really cool sounding song. This guy is just blasting those drums. To me im hearing a blend of skate punk and nirvana. Great stuff I like it 😃
I believe its on its way back. Kennybeats just produced a wicked album with Idles. Kenny has had a huge passion for restoring the live instrument authenticity. Loved the video!
Andrew great analysis of this video and I have to say really super enjoyable. I have played drums for similar types of bands bands and really enjoy what’s going on here. It’s almost like a different skill set in my opinion. Able to push and pull the tempo like that and I agree with you we need more natural sort of organic music in terms of the energy that is being expressed. Very impressive performance thanks for sharing
Love ya Rooney! I know there are proper channels for recommending tracks, but I just thought I'd throw it your way... Matt Garstka has some incredible new playthroughs for animals as leaders. No edits, no effects, %100 live drums. The song The Problem With Other Minds is a hell of a ride man. Also, Matt did some side stuff with the guitarist Josh De La Victoria. They have 3 kind of studio performance videos out that are absolutely stellar. Kepler, Perennial, and Iris. They are so wonderfully shot, and the performances are just incredible. If you don't get a chance to react to them on the channel, definitely give them a look in your own time. I think you would enjoy the music, the musicianship, and the beautiful quality of the videos. Keep up the great work dude! Gotta keep Van Dam shakin' it!!!
Cool to see these guys on here. Their first record 'Turning On' is quite good, but a totally different vibe. More of a solo record for Dylan Baldi, including the drums, which are terrible lol. Also, as someone who doesn't use or record to a click, I appreciate your perspective on it Andrew!
Definitely has that early 90s almost Green Day sound in the beginning and by the time it's over, they're sounding like Queens Of The Stone Age. Never heard of these guys before myself but I'm surely digging it! 🤘🏼🥁🤘🏼
I had to go to south Florida for work today. Started thinking about Andrew when I stepped in to a convenience store and smelled the Cuban coffee in the air. Had to get a Café con Leche. Sooooo goooood! 😋
the best small kit/one kick pedal drummer has got to be Zach Hill who you should definitely check out sometime....he's maybe the most intense drummer out there...search up his live video with Mick Barr! You will be impressed with the stamina.
Kind of surprised he hasn't been on here yet. Even if people think Hella and his solo stuff is a bit much (he's an 'overplayer' for sure), you've got Team Sleep, Friend/Enemy, and Crime in Choir to show his range. Personal favorite is Bygones, with Nick Reinhart from Tera Melos (two other great drummers in Vince Rogers and John Clardy that should be on this channel!)
@@ghostrobot3714 yeah he's got a ton of great projects...i think his most underrated ones are probably The Ladies (with Rob Crow) and the Cryptomnesia album with The Mars Volta dudes...and he even did another one with Omar on the side...and his newer stuff is cool too (the I.L.Y.'s and Undo K From Hot)
I feel like everything he did was intentional, and the surges of speed and slow downs are probably how that song goes everytime... I've never heard them before, so who knows, but I'll believe that was total control blended with situational awareness.

Wow. Great info Ian!
Been a fan for 10 years, finally get to see them live next month. Great video! Jayson's one of the best in the business, highly underrated drummer

It's really old school! No clicks. Love it

Very good and insightful comment Chris!
Fantastic, many thanks for another killer vid mate
Glad you're digging it!!!
This just sounds organic! Absolutely loved it!!!
Excellent Justin :)
I love this band and love this song. Thanks for doing this one!
lovely snare rolls
Yes Erick!
may I request some Anup Sastry. I saw him live when he was with Intervals. the song Automaton play through is tasty. I think youd like his tom work
I believe its on its way back.

Loved the video!
Last song and Encore, rolled into one...
Thanks Johnny!

Thanks Joe!
'Organic' was the word I was searching for the whole video HAHA
This is prog grunge lol.. Love it. Drummer is a machine
I'm getting a Queens of the Stone Age vibe from the second part.
TOTALLY!
Pure punk rock. I think the tempo should blast off even faster. Raw and hot.
Nice song.

Make rock fun again.
I’m here for it.

I dig it too! Kinda like grunge meets speed metal. Speed Grunge?
HAHA Yes!
You should check out their track "Am I Something" off their latest album if you want some slammin' drums. Great video, thanks!
Thanks Matt!
Drums 'n coffeeeeee
ALWAYS!

I'll check him out!
Hella's later albums are so sick. Mick Barr is great too. Seen him in Krallice a few times.

@@SpeedOfThought1111Ladies' record is great, too. The Heavy Vegetable/Thingy side of Rob Crow has always been my favorite.
Please do Chris Kontos of Machine Head performing "Rage to Overcome " 2020 live drum cam.
You should react to Dan Carle!!!
Oh thanks for the tip!
You gotta react to Keeper by Solarus. The Polys in that song are phenominal
Cool. It reminds me of the rawness of very early Kurt Cobain.
100% agree

Yup totally intentional Gregory and in the moment playing.
It's real!
Bruce and his coffee
That was not 170 :)
Some parts are way over 200 bpm for sure
Day 7 of asking for Nic Pettersen
Massey Hall.....where Rush learned their chops.....tbh, i thought this was kinda messy but that may have been the intention
I think it was Ken. A bit of a noise vibe
