Still feel like you’re struggling with house training? You need to watch THIS: The BIGGEST Mistake New Puppy Owners Make... th-cam.com/video/OJaT_3RB3LU/w-d-xo.html Happy Training!
If I put my dog in the crate she does her business right there and lays on it (including number 2) and there is no blanket in the crate . When I take her out she won't go no matter how long we are out there (I spent 2 hours there once). She will wait until she is inside and starts running and pooping everywhere. We watched every TH-cam video out there and nothing works with her. She is going to be 1 year old in February.
We have been doing all the right things with the timing of taking our 5 month old puppy out. At 5 months we thought we should be teaching her how to be free in the house. Some people have said that the reason she is so excited all the time is she is in her pen. But when we let her out of the pen to be with us around the house she is just going anywhere and everywhere with her business! even though we have trained her by putting her outside after all the crucial times. She just doesn't seem to get that she is supposed to do her business OUTSIDE. We are at our wits end. She is 5 months...shouldn't she have "got this" by now???
Thank You for this! My puppy had a very hard time with potty training so I came across this video and I am now following the rules in this video and my puppy hasn’t had an accident for almost a whole month now! I highly recommend this for people who have a hard time potty training their puppy.
Anybody else’s dog think the backyard is to play and the house is to pee? This is tough lol Edit: he got the hang of it so quickly :) hang in there guys your dog is smarter than you think
This is one of the issues I'm having right now!! He always asks to go outside and only uses the restroom sometimes. Like 80-90% of the time, he asks to go outside just to play and mess around with plants/dirt/whatever else he can find lol. I'm so proud of him when he asks to go outside and goes potty, but sometimes he's just like "eh who cares about outside, let's just poop right here on the stairs, why not"... It's really frustrating and I hope he gets the hang of it as time goes on. Glad to hear that you say it gets better though lol
@@sepiroth799 same! My 9 week old German shepherd only goes outside to play, but the second I bring her inside she either poops or pees, any tips to stop that?
@@sant6902 honestly routine and persistence helped me out big time. Trying to put your pup on a schedule should get them to understand that you want them to go potty. Also giving them treats every time they actually go outside also really really helps. And the last thing that helped me was just understanding my dog, I watched him really closely and started to understand when he wanted to pee/poop based on how long after drinking water and eating and also watching the specific way that he would sniff around before going potty. hope that helps but your dog will totally pick up on it, just be patient
My puppy will literally ask to go INSIDE TO PEE. Just refuses to do it outside. Even though we shower her with praise when it accidentally sometimes happens.
Hi there, Nichole! Supervision is going to be really important if you’re struggling with your puppy potty training. Any time your puppy is out of their crate you need to keep a close eye on them. That way, when your puppy has an accident you can help them train through it. Here’s a video to show you what to do when that happens: Puppy Potty Training - How To Stop Your Puppy From Peeing Indoors - th-cam.com/video/L1KqfQOSrKs/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching! ~Ken
Hi there, Blain! The good news is you’re in the right place at the right time to fix that problem. Catching your pup in the act is really important for their learning. Here’s a video that will help you to address those accidents indoors: Puppy Potty Training - How To Stop Your Puppy From Peeing Indoors - th-cam.com/video/L1KqfQOSrKs/w-d-xo.html Happy Training! ~Ken
I have a shih tzu, i got her when she was 2 months old, now shes about to turn 8 months, and she poos outside but she pees inside, i honestly dont know what to do, i give her more time but she does it outside and pees inside
I found this video researching why my puppy isn’t catching on to house breaking. We’ve had her about a month (she’s currently 15 weeks old) and we keep her in the crate for rests or when she can’t be supervised. She goes straight outside after naps and after playtimes. We take her out the same door every time, and use the same phrase, “let’s go outside” every time we take her out. She goes almost every time we take her out but the letting us know she needs to go part doesn’t seem to be clicking with her. There are times when she’ll be in the middle of playing or running around, and she’ll just immediately stop and pee. Or she’ll barely sniff around before we realize she’s started to poo. We take her outside immediately when we catch her, but there are times when she’s so fast that we don’t realize what she’s doing until she’s done. It’s getting frustrating not knowing what else we can do to get her to understand letting us know when she needs to go out.
I can’t even tell you how much this has helped me. I adopted an 8 week old puppy last Friday. I am very strict when it came to potty training. I take her out 7-9 times a day. I always go out with her on leash. She almost immediately goes every single time. For some reason... she hasn’t been going at night. I wake up around 4 am to take her out and then again at 7. I’m not saying it’s not a lot of work, but the faster we can accomplish this the sooner she can have time out of the crate! THANKS AGAIN!!
Great information. The last issue that has been plaguing my puppy's house training is the getting too excited while playing indoors. He can go outside, completely empty his bladder, come back inside to play (fetching soft toys, tug-of war with a rope toy, or playing with a puzzle toy), and suddenly with no warning he'll squat to pee only 15-20 minutes after coming back inside. I now have to time him for 10 minutes and then take him back out.
My puppy likes to eat the stuff on the ground. I'm constantly telling him to leave it then rewarding him. He loses focus on peeing or pooping because I'm constantly having to tell him to leave it and he'll always want a treat after.
Had same issue with my puppy. She would eat anything from the ground. Had to use mouth guard, but she was miserable with it. She wouldn't drop it or leave it, if it is a bone or anything that smells like food, because she is very food motivated. Only thing that helped is every time she would pick something up is to stop, open her mouth and retrieve it. I had to always follow up, to make sure she understood that no matter what she tries to eat from the ground, I will take it out. Now I just say no and she knows that even if she picks it up I will take it out, so she doesn't. Wish you luck and hopefully you will find solution that works for your dog.
my 11 week puppy had the same issue (we're still working on potty training), i found that keeping a treat in my fist in front of her nose kept her from eating leaves until she realized she needed to go. then she got her reward
Nice video. I have successfully trained many dogs; but, this year I adopted a dog that’s not trainable. She was abandoned at 6 months, the person adopted her and kept her for a year didn’t train her. Now she’s a full grown almost two years old with a bad habit. I will adopt your method to not put any cozy throw in the crate.
We have been bringing our puppy outside at regular times through out the day and although she does pee it is immediately when we exit the front door. She also seems to get very stressed outside and wants to get back in the house as much as possible
This is a huge help!!! My puppy is 14 weeks and when we dont catch his signs the he has to pee he pees on our couch or literally on our feet. I pray all of this works with him ❤
I'm glad is was so helpful, angelequejem! Make sure to mark those mistakes with your voice, and your puppy will quickly learn that peeing in the house isn't acceptable. Thanks for watching! Happy Training! ~Ken
You are addressing what we did wrong today in our potty training and play time sessions....thank you for this video! Especially the one after a play session.
Good video. We have a nearly 13 week puppy we got from the Woodward Center. Foster mom relayed she was housetrained to newspaper. Since we brought her home, day 6, she pees or poos on a edge of a puppy pad. She showed no interest in newspaper. We don't crate her, when we're not home, she stays in a bedroom, with puppy pads down. She usually partly misses. We've been told that we can't take her out on a leash, because she hasn't had all her shots yet. Suggestions from more experienced puppy owners.

Hi thank you for your video. My puppy is 4 month old. She is a shih tzu and she is weeing every 5 minutes and even taking her in and out she waits until she is inside. She is driving us crazy. I will do as you said and remove the bedding from the crate. Ohhhh the stress…
Thank you! I have a 15 week old Chiweenie and he still has several accidents inside in his playpen daily. I learned today a few things I am doing wrong. Edit: I have been working on this for three HOURS now. He just does NOT want to poop when I take him out! Pee, no problem and in the past pooping was no problem. But for some reason he's getting to where he only wants to poop in his playpen. (He only gets out with us in one room a few times a day, otherwise he's in a playpen or crate until he's grown)
I have a 16 week German shepherd mix and I have this same issue about half the time we go outside. I'm going to try step 3 and see if that works. Already doing step 1 and 2. 😮💨 Frustrating for sure.
House broke my German Shepherd pup in 10 days. I took her out after every nap, every playtime, every meal, every time her nose went to the ground! On leash on all outings, reward with a treat immediately after she pees or poops along with “Yes!!” excited praise! She’s so smart!!
After almost 3 months of unsuccessful potty training, I watched about 6 of these videos. Now 2 weeks later and we've only had one accident inside! And yes, it was because I was not watching her! We're still working on her asking to go outside but she's been able to hold it until I take her out every few hours. Yay! Now if only I could get her to stop being so picky with her food.
It's been 3 weeks since we got our puppy. I follow the videos to a T and for the most part it's working but she's still having at least one accident a day..I'm starting to get frustrated and I don't know what to do next
That is a great question. We are having the same issue with our 3 month old blue pit. He will go outside and then like in just a few minutes he will go inside. He is not picking so it's harder for me to catch him since he is a squatter. So any help and guidance is greatly appreciated!
@@shannontackett9317 mines a squatter too! Its exhausting when I have to clean pee/poo so many times a day. I definitely need to invest in a carpet cleaner.
That was great information! I had my puppy's crate decked out with a memory foam bed and a plush quilt, now that all of that is gone she's looking at me like I'm crazy.
Thank you so much, I just got a dog yesterday, and she keeps peeing inside right after I bring her in from being outside. She knows it's wrong because whenever I get close, she won't, and she will lay down so that it's harder for me to bring her closer. I was wondering if I should be scolding her when she does pee inside? Again, I just want to say thank you for this information, it really helps.
No matter what I do or how long I let my puppy explore outside. As soon as I let her loose in the house she pees. It’s actually a joke at this point. It’s 4:30 PM and she’s already pee’d in my house 5 times and pooped 2 times. No I am not exaggerating either.
@@daisy1686 I’m in the same boat…I’m at my wits end with this one. I’ll be outside with him for 30-45 minutes sometimes as much as an hour and he REFUSES TO GO. He just jumps around like a feral animal trying to get the leash off. So I’ve switched to a slip-lead the more he struggles the more it tightens so he’s learning the leash BUT I swear he’s ONLY GOES IN THE HOUSE NO MATTER HOW LONG WE’RE OUTSIDE!!!! My wife is starting to think it’s out of spite and I’m starting to believe it. I’ve trained MANY dogs in my life and I’ve NEVER had one this bad. I honestly don’t know what to do so I started looking for videos 🤬🤷🏻♂️
Yeah I do all that. Doesn’t work. I’ll spend 45 min outside will she flips around like a fish on a hook. Then we come in a she goes in the house. I’m exhausted.
Been loving these videos! Very educational! I’m trying to do my research prior to committing to adopting a 2-4years old rescue dog. How is crate training and potty training different for new dogs versus puppies? Can you or should you put a dog bed in there crate in the beginning for non-puppies? Thank you for all the awesome training tips!
Omg so much help thank you guys so much I’ve literally not thought about getting a crate for my puppy he successfully stopped peeing in the house within a week😱😱😱 we love him so much and thanks to y’all help we gets to love without the little dibbles of pee😂🤣 thanks
We have a 10 week old pup. She's in her crate at night but what should we do during the day, keep her in her crate or let her have more space? What should we do regarding house training? Train her to use puppy pads or not. We have a dog sitter who will come in every day whilst we are work. I don't want to confuse her by using pads when we are not there and trying to get her to pee outside when we are home. I'd love some advice as I've read conflicting things.
Hi there, Emma! It sounds like you're making some great choices for your puppy! She should be in her crate if you aren't able to supervise her. But if you are able to spend time with her, then she should be out, doing something engaging with you! That way you can burn off some of that puppy energy so she will be ready to snooze while she's in her crate. It's great that you can have someone let her out during the day. And it is really important that you do that, so she's not in her crate for too long of a stretch at this point. Avoid the use of puppy pads if you can. You're right, it can confuse a puppy if you expect to eventually have her go outside to potty. I'll include a link to one of our Crate Training videos for you to watch. My puppy is 6 months old and still going inside. I tried taken him out every hour, after he has been in his crate. Is there any hope. He is a pug and loves to play. Any ideas. Now I do put him on a outside leash and go inside. Is that my biggest mistake? I also want to teach him to tell me when he gotta go.
I’ve got a litter of 3 pups I’ve been fostering since they were born, no mom. They are 5 weeks old now, between 3-5lbs and potty pad training is a struggle! I had them in a medium/largeish crate until about a week ago when it felt too small for them. There was a small crate against one door of the larger crate with a bed so they could go in and out and have clearly defined spaces for sleeping and eliminating. The whole floor of the larger crate had potty pads so their only options were basically bed or pads. It worked great at first, their bedding stayed very clean and all the potties were where they should be. But then they started wanting to play and needed more space. I tried to subdivide the space further but it didn’t work. They just played and rolled all over the poo and pee, and started going in their bedding area again, even with my best efforts to keep their “den” clean. I now have them in a 6’x4’ space with a blanket on one side for bedding, a kennel tray with potty pads on the other side, and food in the middle against the wall. There is a bit of open space in the middle for playing, and I have several toys. They pretty much do their poops on the pads, I’d say 90% of the time. But pee is much less reliable. I will watch them sometimes get up from a sleep, walk straight to the pad and pee, and then go back to sleep. Then the next time get up and wander around, and pee nowhere close to the pad. They also pee every time I get them out of their space, which is several times a day for short 20 minute excursions around the house and with my dogs. I put potty pads down outside the gate and try to keep them corralled in that spot until they go, but they inevitably wander off the pads, and go all over the place. It’s hard to manage with 3 of them jumping and vying for attention and if I only bring out 1 at a time they are too distracted to go. It’s pretty cold outside so i don’t take them out much, they also don’t have their vaccines and never nursed on mom so they have zero passive immunity. They have struggled with being borderline unthrifty all along the way and have finally gotten stronger…so I hesitate to take them out much anyway yet. I’m trying to give them a head start on potty training for their new owners as they are going to new homes in 3 weeks…but also for my sanity. It is so time consuming to be constantly cleaning up after them in order to keep a clean and hygienic space. They are on a hard floor so I don’t have to worry about odors seeping into carpet, and I do use an enzymatic cleaner on the floor when I clean, I also leave skid marks from poo and some pee spots on the pads to keep the potty scent where it should be. I’m out of ideas and energy!
Thank you for fostering! I help run a dog rescue and I totally understand you losing your sanity. Honestly, it is so difficult to house train three puppies that young since they have tiny bladders (poo is easier since they usually go immediately after eating). Like you mentioned the outside world can be deadly to them right now because of the deadly "P" 😢 so we don't usually have fosters take them out until a few days after their first set of vaccinations. Congrats for you not breaking down and letting them outside right now. I recommend for when you take them out for the corral for one on one play is to put them on the potty pad by the outside door and when they go potty give them a high value treat. If they don't want to go potty them put them back in their corral. If they want attention then they go potty first. Maybe try to when they go potty in their area to cut out a portion of the urine marked potty pad and tape it in the middle to the new potty pad so they smell the scent and mark it with theirs. Hope that helps a bit until they are adopted. Good luck!!
I’ve had my puppy for about a month and a week. We got him at 6 weeks old so pretty young. Obviously at 6 weeks it was hard to try and house train he was too little to understand peeing outside not inside so we used puppy pads which he used for the most part. At 8 weeks i really started to zone in on his house training and took the puppy pads away. Since that time I have been having a really hard time with him not having accidents in the house. I’ll take him outside and he will poop but won’t pee and as soon as I take him back inside he will pee on the floor. He doesn’t give us any signs that he needs to be when he is outside the crate. Any suggestions?
Hi there, Craig! The colder weather can make it more difficult to get your puppy to go outside. Keep the outdoor trips short and when she does go you can actually start to “capture” the behavior to teach her to go on command. Here’s something you can start to work on: th-cam.com/video/Bu7bjVWQ16A/w-d-xo.html Happy Training! ~Ken
Hey, Vanetta Mosetta! It's not uncommon for a puppy to be having so much fun on their walk, and get distracted along the way! If your puppy hasn't gone on her walk, then be sure to take a break before you go back inside so she can go. Be as boring as possible, so she isn't too distracted by you, and allow her to remember that she has to pee before going back inside. If she does have an accident when she comes back inside, then this video will show you EXACTLY how to train through that: How To Stop Your Puppy From Peeing Indoors - th-cam.com/video/L1KqfQOSrKs/w-d-xo.html Let me know if you have any more questions! Our dog waits to pee and poop inside it's so frusterating! I bring him out several times a day and stay out at least 20 min, firts thjng and last minute before bed too, without fail waits to pee and poop within 10 min of crate time EVERY TIME! 😥
My puppy doesn’t even show signs that he wants to pee, he just squats wherever he’s at and pees 😐 he’s been doing that since we got him at 9 weeks old and now he’s almost 9 months old 🤦🏻♀️ he definitely has had some improvement from the first weeks we’ve had him up until now but he still has accidents. Any advice?

Hi, A few things you must know. Dogs pee more often : when waking up, after playing, after working or after eating or any activity. Make sure you praise a lot. You can even add a command and your dog will pee if you ask him to (if he needs it of course). Also, 3 months puppys can only retain for 3 hours, 4 months for 4 hours ... hope this will help. Have a nice day. Peace.
jolie mome how about three month old can hold it for 15 - 30 mins outside of the cage. Will hold it when at work, won’t last 15 min when I’m home. Take him out every 15 - 20 mins, still has “accidents” inside. Smdh
3 month old Cockapoo he’s only 5 pounds for now he does go on the pads within the house but rarely will poop or pee outside. We also had just started walking him so I’m optimistic he will learn from what I’ve read though is smaller breeds and younger dogs in general have problems controlling their bladder.
I started off pad training my Male puppy and now that he lifting his leg to pee,I realize I need to outdoor train him. How do I make that transition from indoors to outdoors?
I learned my phone must be listening to me. I've looked nothing up. I've typed nothing .... I told my daughter that our pup should not be still peeing in the house...her not cleaning the messes is what is happening... and then this pops up
Hi there question if I may please. At night if my puppy is sleeping and I wake up to go to the bathroom should I take him outside even if he is sleeping ? or do I only take them out when they wake up?
I started by pee pad training. Now that we have a home and garden our puppy doesn't want to go outside. It will happen on the odd event but he will usually run and hide somewhere in the house and do his business. I need to get him to ask for the door or show some kind of sign that he wants to go outside and to actually do his business when we go out. Sometimes I'll stay for 30 minutes with him and he does nothing then the minute we walk back in, he does something on the floor 😞
Hi there! Supervision is going to be an important part of this process. If you think he still needs to go, then you’ll have to put him in his crate briefly, or watch him closely so he doesn’t have a chance to sneak away and have an accident. In regard to teaching him to let you know that he needs to go out, we’ve actually published a video about this very topic. I’ll link it HERE: How To Teach Your Dog To Ask To Go Outside- Without A Bell! th-cam.com/video/qL2qkhDALK0/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps, Happy Training! ~Ken
@@nickyp2820 I agree...this was my case..now he goes outside with no problem, however he still has a couple of accidents that I really believe are our fault for failure to properly supervise. Now he really enjoys going outside and even asks for the door.
My puppy is 8 weeks old and is trained to pee in a wood pellet litter box, he's been really good going in it and sometimes goes when we are outside,. not sure when or if it's best to take it away/how to have him only go out side?
Great advice. Our puppy has been brilliant for days, but has suddenly started to wee in the kitchen and tonight In the sitting room. Always dry at nights. What can we do ??
I have two 9week old puppies from the same litter. Everything I've read says to crate them separately and spend one on one time with each of them individually, so they bond with you instead of forming an unhealthy attachment to each other.
I've adopted a dog recently, and every morning when I go to take him outside he just rolls over onto his back and will pee on himself. I dont know how to get him to stop, and he refuses to go outside no matter what i try. I'm at a loss because its beginning to feel like maybe he's too old to learn how to just go outside? I dont know what to do anymore.
That sounds like submissive urination to me. I would check to see if they have any video where they talk about that. It is completely different than house training.
I take my puppy out first thing in the morning and when we get home from work. She does her business outside then, but throughout the rest of the day, she goes in the house. I go outside with her and bring her back in and then back out when she's playing around. I'm not really sure what else to do.
I think you are doing fine. I don't have a dog but if she has a small bladder and you are out for work for most of the day then maybe she just can't hold it. Give her less water? Maybe give water to her when you are there. I'm not sure, this was 9 months ago, how did you solve the problem? And how are you doing?.
Hi. What if my dog doesn’t want to pee on the pee pad? I live in a small apartment so I do not have much access to open space outside. Whenever she turns around a few times and begin to sniff the floor, I would quickly put her back into her pan with her pee tray inside. But she would then sit down and stare blankly at me even though I waited for 30minutes to let her do her business. I’ve tried using concentrated pee scents and many other methods. But she just doesn’t like to pee on her pee tray. I’ve tried removing the tray and just using the pad itself but she would just bite and tear it off. I need to indoor-train her because most of the time I’ll be out for work leaving her with my grandma. Any help?
Adrea Soh Hey , did you find a solution? This is exactly what I’m going through. My puppy won’t pee when I’m looking. When I leave , he won’t pee on the pad.
Maybe it also depends on age. My pup is completely hopeless. I've tried everything but she just sits on the tray and won't pee. I'm actually exhausted.
Ok. So one month later my puppy is potty trained. When he’s very young it’s going to be hard, I think they pee like every 10 to 20 mins. lol. I live in an apartment 4th floor , couldn’t be bothered to go outside. I removed the crate and created a small confinement method. The first few times he didn’t realize that his bed wasnt the place to pee, he would pee in his bed and sleep on the pee pad.lol. I made sure my eyes were totally fixed on him the minute he started showing signs that he wanted to pee I would put him on the pad. If he didn’t pee, I would pick him up , hold him for 20 mins bring him back again on the pee pad. I’d repeat this process till he couldn’t keep it in his bloodier then when he pees on the pee pad I wouldn’t say anything (he gets distracted easily) after he was done peeing that’s when I would congratulate him , play with him (he preferred playing rather than eating). Kept doing the same thing over and over again in less than a week my lil pup was going over the pee pad by himself whilst he was peeing I’d say wee wee wee when he was done , we would play or I’d give him a treat. So yea. All the best guys. One tip PATIENCE!!!!!! these pups will work you out. lol
One more tip if he pees outside the pee pad wipe the pee with pee pad. Then place the pee pad where you want him to pee. His own pee is a natural inducer. Don’t buy those inducing pee scents. They don’t work. No matter how young your pup is, he knows his pee scent. If he’s really pressed he will surely pee there especially after smelling his pee. And my pup likes to poop where he pees. So try to keep the unclean pad for the next poop session. lol.
@@anesunembaware6704 please help. I put a pee pad under her pee tray so she can smell it and pee on it. But she always pee on the floor not her tray and lie down on the pee and chew on the pee pads.
so, I have a question I might be getting a puppy soon and I was wondering what is the best way to potty train them. We’re struggling so much with our almost 5 month pup. I keep her tied near me when she’s inside. She will get up and instantly pee. Not a second to react to her getting up to take her out. Or if I I step away from her sight for a second, it’s an instant lake. Yes I shouldn’t leave her alone but I also have a 7 yr old who calls for me and I leave for seriously 10 sec when I hear “mom Stella peed” 😭 help! I’ve tried apps, taking her every hour, taking her every time she gets up. Nothing has worked.
I understand 100%! I am going through the same exact thing! My pup is almost 6 months. We were playing for just a few mins and she stopped mid play to pee! I feel she is never going to learn. She was just out since 1.5 hrs prior when she did her thing!
@@merrilk5470 nothing training wise. We ended up going back to work in office shortly after this so she and our other dog stay in the backyard during the day while we’re not home (which she can just pee anytime outside). But once she was about maybe 8-9 months she stopped having accidents inside bc we’ll take her out to pee in the am and lunch time if she’s spending the day inside the house. I guess when they get older they just don’t pee as often.

I have a 6 month Old English bulldog. I think she is broken. I have always had bulldogs and she is not getting this potty thing. I got her at 12 weeks. We have a create and I did keep a blanket in there but after a few weeks of washing blankets 2 times a day. I took them from her. I basically did everything you said except use the leash when taking her out. Sometimes she will go to the back door and knock. Sometimes she will just be walking and pee. I will take her outside as soon as I wake up and she will go pee and poop. Then come in and pee 10 minutes later. Honestly, I have to take her out every 30 minutes or she will pee. She may go to the door 2 times a day but she may owe outside then come right in and pee. I have had dogs my whole life. This dog has to have the smallest bladder. We are at the point that my husband has had enough. We have all new furniture and a new car. She has went pee in my car, on our bed,on my couch, my rug. You name she has gone to the bathroom on it. She is very hyper. I feel that she cant focus. Even to sit and wait for me to put her bowls down and give her the command to eat. She is sitting and her butt wont sit still, she shakes and will roll over and alligator roll and its 15 minutes to get her to sit still for 30 seconds to tell her it's ok to eat. This is how she is all the time. But sometimes she will be so good. Help me please.
Megin Keylon I have the same thing with my dog she's a bolognese short hair and she's a little rascal but she pees when she's done playing and when she wakes up
Megin Keylon Same with me I’ve had dogs my entire life also but my new puppy is giving me the flux ...idk it seems these new puppy’s are all super hyper and weird like this ...I’m having success trading mine to sit and wait for food but once you give the command to go ahead he acts like he’s never eaten before and dashes with lightning speed to the bowl ... and just won’t be still just in general.. he’s seems house broken but still pee’s as soon as I leave him unsupervised in the house for like 15 minutes and then sits quietly waiting for me to see the package he left me that’s the only time he sits still on his own smh .. I wish you guys luck with your pup
Hi, I'm new here. I just bring home our second dog. She's a puggle. And we already have a female Maltese Griffon. They don't get along but that's Another Story. Right now our puggle is 3 months old and it's been at home for the past month. It's been really hard to housebreak her, she can pee outside but she would come inside and pee everywhere even in her crate. I hear ppl saying dogs doesn't pee where they eat and sleep but my puppy does that.
Hi there, Lily Mae! Supervision is going to be important for you to stop those accidents. Here is a video for you to let your puppy know that peeing on the floor isn't allowed: th-cam.com/video/L1KqfQOSrKs/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching! ~Ken
When you see your dog about to go to the toilet, quickly get their attention by picking them up or making some kind of clicking or other little noise in front of the dog and say in a firm tone something like "No! Go outside!" While at the same time you are taking your dog outside and then saying things like "Hurry up!" or "Get busy!" In a happy tone and then being really excited when they do go outside! Give them a treat and let them have a play before they go inside again. Rinse and repeat until they get the toilet training process and then it will be easy from there!
Hi there, 09WTFISTHAT! I have just the video for you then. It's important that you give your puppy the right information when that happens, and this video will help you learn exactly what to do if your puppy is still having accidents in your home: How To Stop Your Puppy From Peeing Indoors - th-cam.com/video/L1KqfQOSrKs/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching, and Happy Training! ~Ken
How long do you stay out with your puppy? I have a 8 week old Anatolian Shepard female and when I take her out she will pee 3-5 times. I am like can't she just let it all out at once. LOL She will squat take a pee, at least I think she is peeing, walk a bit and repeat. I have learned to wait until I see she is no longer trying to pee. So far so good. I only wish she would use pads inside.
I'm not sure. But is her crate small enough? If there's too much space she may feel like its okay. Try and catch her in the moments and bring her outside straight away to eliminate the behaviour.
@@unaestrella1876 she was on my bed 😭 however, putting her on a feeding schedule made it easier to tell when she needed to go and I take her to the exact same spot outside to do her business, then I reward her when ever she goes. Also she's not allowed on the bed anymore.
Great video, gotta question for you. I have a beautiful stubborn OES. 7 weeks I’ve been potty training with little success. She loves to go inside. Please help.
Your videos are the best sources of puppy training I have found to make training as simplistic as possible for us over thinkers, so thank you. We did not do the research required before we got TWO 13 week old Cockapoos from a breeder a week ago. Obviously, potty training a puppy is very frustrating and time demanding, but trying to potty train 2 puppies at the same time can be extremely overwhelming! We are making steps to correct some of the mistakes we have made within the past week thanks to your videos, but I was hoping you could make some instructional videos about training 2 puppies at the same time. Specifically, what do you do with the second puppy when you are trying to spend a few minutes with the other puppy and only one person is available? The few I have found so far have puppies that are very calm, and 2 people training at the same time. What I have seen is unrealistic because when you praise one puppy verbally, with affection, and with a treat for good behavior, the other puppy also seems to think it is being praised, even though the 2nd puppy is not getting a treat.
We have a 7 month old rescue German Shepherd female puppy that spends her time outside with our other 4 year old male German Shepherd rescue. We have a home with a covered terrace with plenty of room for them to sleep in as well as a pool and a fenced grass yard where the 4 year old male German Shepherd poops and pees. Since we got her 2 weeks ago, she has been loving and energetic with us and the other dog. While she poops mostly in the grass yard, she is now pooping daily in a room that is kept open that faces the back yard. This room has dog beds that the 4 year old male dog used to use when our other 2 dogs were still alive, so he associates that room with sleep and rest as well as frequent place to stay in when we have the gardener or others who need to service the back yard. Now, the dynamic has changed, since our new puppy arrived and the dogs only go there when there is weekly service to the pool or the gardener needs the run of the yard sans the dogs to service our yard or the cleaning lady cleans the outside patio. From the first time, that the female puppy was placed there with the other dog (who knows better than to poop anywhere but the grassy yard), she now poops in that room every day in addition to pooping in the grass. We often discover the poop after the deed has been done. We have yet to catch her in the act of pooping in the room. What do we do to keep her pooping in the grassy yard consistently and not the room?
I’ve been having the issue with the puppy not wanting to pee outside- then as soon as we come in he pees. But this video helped so much! I’ll try out your tips. As for when accidents do happen. What should I do immediately after. When I catch them in the act?

What is the mistake when we go out she seems to pee doesnt poop and then comes in only to poop on the floor 5 minutes later. Is that due to one lack of constant monitoring and two the fact that maybe she is going out only for a reward at this point. Thank you great video
I have been following your great advice, but my puppy seems to need to pee all the time. we limit water, but she is having a lot of accidents inside. Any other tips to share would be most welcome..
My puppy is 1 year old and we got him from a rescue shelter. He goes outside very well and may have had a couple of accidents inside do to missing the signs of him needing to go out. But now it's time for me to go back to work and I need help on what to do to get him trained for inside since no one will be here to take him out while I am at work.
Wow very helpful, our puppy has been home just a few days going potty outside but now that he sees we have a big backyard he’s been exploring taking longer to pee and poop! I take him if he doesn’t thinking I’ll take him back out in a few minutes but then he has an accident. Love your advice about staying planted in one spot
I have two Chihuahua puppies, there is plenty of clean up...do I collar both..and bring them out on leashes together in designated area..or is it better to give them free range of fenced yard
I adopted a 5 month old puppy yesterday. I’m trying to potty train and crate train her for when I’m at work. So far she’s had three pee accidents in my apartment. I want to make sure I train her right from the beginning. Any tips?
I have a 4 month old puppy that I got on March 9th. He was allowed to pee in his crate. I would say he now let’s me know about half the time and pees in his doggie diaper the other half of the time. He drinks a lot of water and pees all day long. He pees on the pee pad at night and really does pretty good letting me know when he has to go. I’m hoping that with encouraging and rewarding right behavior he eventually gets it all the time.
This is definitely helpful. We have two 5 month old Pomeranian female puppies that share a crate. One is doing well with the inside/outside the other is a bit behind and pees in the crate, sometimes she pees on the floor. We have tried separating them but that creates more stress for them.
Sorry for the long post, but I'm struggling with 14 week old Westie/Bichon girl who we have had for 3 weeks. I’m getting desperate and considering rehoming. I think our house layout is a big part of the problem because it probably is a bit confusing. Our house has three different levels connected by rooms and stairs. The entry and study (level 1 - ground) has tiles and timber. Carpeted stairs to Level 2 which has a carpeted sitting room with a door to a tiled laundry that has access to side of house (almost ground level), and backyard lawn via concrete path. Kitchen and formal lounge are upstairs, via carpeted stairs, through lounge to kitchen. No external exits in those rooms. So far she has peed and pooped in the foyer and study; the laundry and the kitchen and a couple of quick shots in the sitting room. We are not letting her have run of the house and bedrooms are off limits, as is the formal lounge with its persian rugs, but she does get to run through that on way to kitchen. We use a loose house lead and monitor, but she is so fast and quiet on elimination, its over before you realise what is going on. Her 'routine is' wake up from crate about 6am, after being in there since about 12 midnight. No elimination in crate, sleeps through the night. Is immediately picked up, leashed and carried to backyard for pee and poop. mostly the both. Back inside into crate for another 120 minutes zzzz. Breakfast in crate around 8.00am. Outside for a pee and a bit of a play. 15 minutes. Back inside and accompany me or my wife in different rooms, kitchen (door to lounge closed) study/foyer (door at top of stairs to sitting room closed0; if in sitting room, door to downstairs foyer, and study closed, bedroom doors closed. Visits outside about every 90 minutes or so; sometimes she goes and sometimes not. If she has a nap take her out after wakes up. Lunch around 12.30, in crate. Leave her there for 20 minutes walk on leash to backyard. Usually pees, sometimes poop. After that, a little play in backyard. Then back inside to accompany wife or I in study kitchen or wherever. Dinnner about 8pm. In crate; 20 minutes wait then outside walk on leash to backyard for pee. Watches tele on lap and plays in study rest of evening. Walk to backyard for pee around 12.00 then into the crate. She also has an inside fake grass pisser with puppy pad under the grass. Sometimes she has used that on her own. I frequently put her on it, and sometimes she uses it to pee. Once to poo. Puppy pad on kitchen floor and foyer floor but she has not used them to pee even when I put her on them. Prefer to chew them up! If we go out, we leave her in the laundry (not in crate) with door to sitting area open but secured by baby gate. She seems to have some anxiety issues as she jumps up at the gate and barks in 10 minute rotating segments (resting in between). Often will pee on floor of laundry during that, and not use fake grass pisser. She will not signal potty need by going to door. Questions I have or suggestions please…. • Is possible to house train a dog with this multiple rooms scenario? How best to do that? • I think it would be so easy with a single level home and easy access outside from kitchen or sitting room where outside is always close. • Should we confine her to only laundry until she is fully trained? (but we love having her company in permitted rooms…) • Is it best to leash walk her to back-yard elimination or carry her every time? • Would a pet-door where she can come and go help - if not in the beginning when could it be installed? • Any advice. Tearing my hair out

I just stood in the rain for 10 minutes waiting my puppy to pee.. she peed as soon as we came in
Sameeee
Nobody likes to pee in the rain

We have been doing all the right things with the timing of taking our 5 month old puppy out. At 5 months we thought we should be teaching her how to be free in the house. Some people have said that the reason she is so excited all the time is she is in her pen. But when we let her out of the pen to be with us around the house she is just going anywhere and everywhere with her business! even though we have trained her by putting her outside after all the crucial times. She just doesn't seem to get that she is supposed to do her business OUTSIDE. We are at our wits end. She is 5 months...shouldn't she have "got this" by now???
My puppy peed in the house as I watched this video
LMAO ! Is your puppy doing better now ?
LOL.
Mine too smh 🤦🏽♀️
LMFAOOOO
after they pee outside, they may have not emptied all of it out. so, stay outside a little bit longer, they might relieve everything then :)
This is tough lol
Edit: he got the hang of it so quickly :) hang in there guys your dog is smarter than you think
@@sepiroth799 thanks so much! I’ll use this advice! 🙏
My puppy will literally ask to go INSIDE TO PEE. Just refuses to do it outside. Even though we shower her with praise when it accidentally sometimes happens.
I take my puppy out to pee. He will pee outside and the still come inside and pee on the floor
Hi there, Nichole! Supervision is going to be really important if you’re struggling with your puppy potty training. Any time your puppy is out of their crate you need to keep a close eye on them. That way, when your puppy has an accident you can help them train through it. Here’s a video to show you what to do when that happens: Puppy Potty Training - How To Stop Your Puppy From Peeing Indoors - th-cam.com/video/L1KqfQOSrKs/w-d-xo.html

What about training your potty training inside on pads? That’s my only option right now
Yeah my dog does the same, it's like she only goes half way outside just so she can come inside and pee
Hi there, Blain! The good news is you’re in the right place at the right time to fix that problem. Catching your pup in the act is really important for their learning. I have a shih tzu, i got her when she was 2 months old, now shes about to turn 8 months, and she poos outside but she pees inside, i honestly dont know what to do, i give her more time but she does it outside and pees inside
“It’s actually your mistake.” That one hurt my feelings a little bit. 😂
This is by far the hardest time I have had training a puppy! I'm going to try the crate method and see how it goes! Thank you!
It is so refreshing to have someone NOT say 'potty' every 5 seconds when talking about toilet training a dog..........THANK YOU👍
Stacey Williams who cares? 😫😫 its still the same damn thing..

Wish you luck and hopefully you will find solution that works for your dog.
my 11 week puppy had the same issue (we're still working on potty training), i found that keeping a treat in my fist in front of her nose kept her from eating leaves until she realized she needed to go. then she got her reward
sameeee
@@hannahs3254did you eventually train her jw
Thank you for your tip of removing the padding I'm going to tryit
Very helpful but what of those who have neighbours who are unfriendly to dogs and we need them to do this in the house
Thank you. I was definitely making mistakes that you addressed. Now that I know what I'm doing wrong I can start doing it right and see if it works.
Subscribed and going to get our first family dog this afternoon.....I'll be watching these videos a lot....thanks for the great content.

How do know when it’s time to remove the wee wee pad? My puppy pees on the wee pad and/or the yard but still has accidents.
Hi thank you for your video. My puppy is 4 month old. She is a shih tzu and she is weeing every 5 minutes and even taking her in and out she waits until she is inside. She is driving us crazy. I will do as you said and remove the bedding from the crate. Ohhhh the stress…
Our pug is 10 months old and still prefers to pee in the house, we will try putting him on a lead and following these instructions thank you
Thank you for this. So much clearer than others I have heard. Awesome!!!!
Started with my puppies in an apartment so they were trained on pads. Now they won't go outside. Any tips?
Try to keep a log of what happens just before and just after an accident.
Thank you, I'm at my wits end so I'm going to give this a shot.
Hopefully you're doing good today!!! ?
Dango , is your puppy trained yet ? If yes , how long did it take ?
What do you do when your puppy goes potty outside then with in minutes of being back inside they have an accident
That is a great question. We are having the same issue with our 3 month old blue pit. He will go outside and then like in just a few minutes he will go inside. He is not picking so it's harder for me to catch him since he is a squatter. So any help and guidance is greatly appreciated!

Same. I am going tonhave to give my puppy back.

Is there any kind of commands I should give my puppy if he does go to the potty on the floor in the house

Thanks so much. My little yorkie thinks going outside is an adventure. Your tips I am so excited to try. Thanks.
I'm in this exact boat, did you manage to get to the bottom of this
Did you get it figured out? If so how??

Does cold weather affect a puppy from not going outside? I've had my four month old puppy for a week and a half and she has yet to go outside
Hi there, Craig! The colder weather can make it more difficult to get your puppy to go outside. Keep the outdoor trips short and when she does go you can actually start to “capture” the behavior to teach her to go on command. Here’s something you can start to work on: th-cam.com/video/Bu7bjVWQ16A/w-d-xo.html

My pup will WAIT until he gets back in the crate to pee/poop. I've removed bedding and pads. He's driving me crazy.
Did you find out anything to help you with this?
Maybe the crate is too big, so in the one corner they live and in the other they use it as a bathroom.
How can you put the pup in that 📦. That’s wrong

She went to the bathroom on the carpet AFTER I took her outside on a walk. Explain that.
If she does have an accident when she comes back inside, then this video will show you EXACTLY how to train through that: How To Stop Your Puppy From Peeing Indoors - th-cam.com/video/L1KqfQOSrKs/w-d-xo.html

The same exact thing happened to me! I don’t know what else to do with her training.
Our dog waits to pee and poop inside it's so frusterating! I bring him out several times a day and stay out at least 20 min, firts thjng and last minute before bed too, without fail waits to pee and poop within 10 min of crate time EVERY TIME! 😥
Same here..sometimes goes outside...but even thise times..after we come back kn, 10 min later she poops in 2 specific areas all the time
My puppy doesn’t even show signs that he wants to pee, he just squats wherever he’s at and pees 😐 he’s been doing that since we got him at 9 weeks old and now he’s almost 9 months old 🤦🏻♀️ he definitely has had some improvement from the first weeks we’ve had him up until now but he still has accidents. Any advice?

You should call a profesional trainer,it could work unless you are struggling
Hi,
A few things you must know. Peace.
@@joliemome8787 oh Alright thanks!
jolie mome how about three month old can hold it for 15 - 30 mins outside of the cage.
Thank you so much! It worked:)
I started off pad training my Male puppy and now that he lifting his leg to pee,I realize I need to outdoor train him. How do I make that transition from indoors to outdoors?
Charlitta Ayala should’ve done outside from the beginning.
Slowly bring the pad closer to the door and eventually outside. Once he starts going on the pad outside, slowly start to remove the pad.
I learned my phone must be listening to me. I've looked nothing up. I've typed nothing .... I told my daughter that our pup should not be still peeing in the house...her not cleaning the messes is what is happening... and then this pops up
Yep, being spied on. It happens all the time...
How can you take them out side when you live in an apartment block and they're only 8 weeks old ie parvo
Thanks,
You reinforce my lazy mistakes👍
I’ll link it HERE: How To Teach Your Dog To Ask To Go Outside- Without A Bell! th-cam.com/video/qL2qkhDALK0/w-d-xo.html

My puppy is 8 weeks old and is trained to pee in a wood pellet litter box, he's been really good going in it and sometimes goes when we are outside,. not sure when or if it's best to take it away/how to have him only go out side?
When I did this my puppy just attacked the grass
Great advice. Our puppy has been brilliant for days, but has suddenly started to wee in the kitchen and tonight In the sitting room. Always dry at nights. What can we do ??
How do I potty train 2 basset hounds at same time 6 weeks old. Do i put both in one kennel or in separate
Is he still doing that?
That sounds like submissive urination to me. I would check to see if they have any video where they talk about that. It is completely different than house training.
Just don't give up yet.
Hi, I didn’t get a crate on the first day. It’s been 2 weeks of him in the house. Is crate going to be useful after all this?
so, I have a question I might be getting a puppy soon and I was wondering what is the best way to potty train them. You see I've never owned a puppy let alone a dog so this is all new to me and I wanna do the best I can for the little one and learn all I can before getting a puppy, thank you for your time!
Did something work for you??
@@merrilk5470 nothing training wise. We ended up going back to work in office shortly after this so she and our other dog stay in the backyard during the day while we’re not home (which she can just pee anytime outside). But once she was about maybe 8-9 months she stopped having accidents inside bc we’ll take her out to pee in the am and lunch time if she’s spending the day inside the house. I guess when they get older they just don’t pee as often.
I think mine just gets too distracted. She'll be playing and be excited, then suddenly starts peeing.

That’s the issue, taking them out every 5 minutes.
Help I take my puppie out to pee he will pee and then come straight inside and pee again.

My dog pees while she's asleep, how can I train her to stop
What about an indoor/outdoor dog? (Siberian husky 6 months old just rescued yesterday)
Hi! Any advice on how to potty train 2 puppies at the same time? We have litter mates and it’s proven to be quite hard!

(but we love having her company in permitted rooms…)
• Is it best to leash walk her to back-yard elimination or carry her every time?
• Would a pet-door where she can come and go help - if not in the beginning when could it be installed?
• Any advice. Tearing my hair out
