You are required by the IRS to collect a W9 if you are hiring a worker for a job to verify their ability to work.

Can u please do a video covering small businesses who have a tax license (not seller permit but actual tax registration cert)? It's so confusing with use &sell tax, and yearly fees. I'm so‐ overwhelmed. Thanks!
A business tax certificate is another name for a business license. This is not the same as a sellers permit. A business license (tax certificate) allows you to conduct business in your city - it does not permit you to make sales of tangible products for that you also need a sellers permit.
I'm creating a (paid) course that simplifies the steps of starting a business into micro tasks that are more easy to understand. What questions do you have here specifically with what you mentioned?

@@ginnysilver I use PayPal to pay contractors. I think they do this automatically for me..
As long as it was not sent/marked as friends and family and was tracked as a business transaction yes they will issue form 1099K as the third party settlement organization but only if you paid them the threshold for them to require a 1099k - in 2023 the threshold was $20,000 and 200 transactions. You likely still need to issue this because they likely won't send a 1099. Next year their issuing rules change to $600
