He seems to be the only Violinist who understands the true acoustics of sound, how sound and sound travel are related to speed and tone quality. A true Violin genius.!!
It wasn't when he played here in a live concert... but yes, in his prime he was one of the top 3 or 4 violinists in the world. Amazing. I wish I didn't find out that he was a pretty nasty racist.
his commercially recorded output is just too limited; I hope more radio and live recordings trickle out. Would love to hear him play Barber, Glazunov, and Walton Viola Concerto
