    I love how John Waters' suits all get snappier over time. Watched all the Letterman interviews, from '82 to current. If only Divine could have lived to enjoy his stardom, and be that mega star he always wanted to be. Divine was actually a real sweetheart of a person. I know John misses him a lot.

    The friend he was visiting in prison was former Manson follower Leslie Van Houten, serving a life sentence (with possibility of parole) at the California Institution for Women in Chino CA for her involvement in the 1969 Tate LaBianca murders. She was not involved in the murders at Sharon Tate’s home but participated in the murders of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca the following night.

    I loved "Hairspray" when it first released. It was absolutely awesome and the movie theater was sold out.

    Thanks so much for all these clips. John Waters is a legend. Too bad he seems to have retired as a filmmaker.
    He alway seems to be a genuinely nice guy.

      @@Tu-mai Yes. I liked the way he stuck up for her. The Van Houten reference was from earlier when he talked about visiting a friend in prison and not being able to smoke.

    I think the touching the mustache thing comes up in a recent interview Joe Bob Briggs had with him on Shudder. He mentions how Letterman would never touch it.
