Yes. This was the weather in Nightvale, but this is the first time the weather in Nightvale made me pause and look up the song. This song is a pacifist, Jesus preachin' throat punch to every dogma I grew up believing. Beautiful.
I've listened to this song at least 5 times today. I heard the first verse on the weather of Welcome to Night Vale and I had to pause it so I could listen to it when I was fully paying attention. This is beautiful, and somehow even with its mournful and sorrowful tone, it gives me comfort. I can't wait to hear more of this music. It's really stunning.
Impeccable songwriting. I found your song on Spotify, but came here to read the lyrics with the song. They are very powerful, succinct, and even though I'm an agnostic I appreciate such a very beautiful thought.
Well, it’s not really an explicitly Christian song. That may seem weird to say, since it’s about Jesus, but it’s more about him as a human being rather than a living god. And how his word has been corrupted over the years. Which I can fully agree with even as a complete atheist. Jesus may not have been the son of God, but I do think he was a great man, and his name has sadly been greatly misused to justify a cycle of violence he would have detested.
I do happen to be a Christian and hearing that last verse in a WTNV episode really shook me up. That episode destroyed me anyway, but this song not only absolutely fit the mood of the episode, but made me even sadder. Very emotional experience for me.
i loved this song when i first heard it listening to wtnv seven years ago, and i love it even more now. it gets stuck in my head all the time, i still remember every word. it's one of those songs that really sticks with you and grows in meaning.
Bittersweet song to give an echoing voice to the daily news. Some communal grief leading to hope. Thank you for sharing your voice, your song, your thoughts.
I came here from Night Vale, too. I barely have words. Let's just say I was totally and sadly with you until the last verse, and then you made me cry. It's a beautiful song; I love it when a song has a story or a message to it. Thank you
This is one of the best weathers to date its been occupying my mind for nearly a year since it was released and I still come back to hear the song again
Like many people in this section I first heard it in WTNV all these years ago, it left a deep impression on me and every now and then I just need to listen to it again
My country (New Zealand) has just suffered its first terrorist attack. This is the song I need tonight as we reel from events that, in the words of our Prime Minister, are not who we are.
@@aetherel Thank you for asking. We haven't had a further attack. Sadly, the one year anniversary commemorations were cancelled due to Covid-19 - those are an important part of our national grief process. It hurt us. It changed us. But I think we're doing okay. Edited to add: I mean, apart from the epidemic.
Hey man, I don't know if you read these comments, but I have something I wanted to tell you. Though I guess it's more for me than for you. I found this song almost four years ago when it appeared in episode 107 of Welcome to Night Vale. The music was beautiful and slow, and the message was a kind of tragic I was noticing more of as I was getting older. It stuck with me. Over the next four years, I stopped listening to Welcome to Night Vale, I guess I grew out of it, but I never stopped listening to this song. Every few months, my mind would drift back to that one melancholy song about wars, businessmen, and Jesus, and I'd come back here and have a listen. In all this time, it's meaning has changed for me. When I first heard it, it was about the pointless cruelty of war, how nothing gets better because no one tries. "Never mind 'thou shall not kill.'" But now it's about hope. Hope because there are people trying. "With every word you ever say, You teach the world to live that way." Thank you for this song, and for everything it has meant to me.
This song is so strong and profound and that's the reason you will never hear this played on any mainstream media outlet , radio etc but I'm so glad I stumbled upon this song . Truth in every verse. God bless u
This fits the melancholy tone of the WTNV it was in so well. Gonna be honest, I’ve fallen SUPER behind on that series, haven’t listened in AGES, but I remembered this randomly and now I really want to both catch up on WTNV and listen to some music by this artist as well.
This song is chilling. Beautifully woven, and I especially love the twist - songs with feelings that creep up on you like this are the best ones. Thank you for the inspiration.
I'm not really sure what the third verse is about (the one between 9/11 and Trump/other politicians). Would someone bé so kind as to share their idea ?
it's about how war is entertainment for us, screened and televised, and about political pundits yelling at each other on tv about right and wrong without ever fixing anything -3-
Second Iraq war. CNN and other media outlets basically live-streamed the entire invasion using night vision technology. Talking heads breaking down the reason to invade Iraq when the terrorists were mostly Sauds. "Justice was a household word"; everyone felt like we needed to do "something".
That line about we cheer the black and flashing greens destroyed me, that from the safety of America we treat the life and death of thousands like it's a game. Wow.
A wonderful song. I play it before my college classes on deontological and consequentialist arguments over the morality of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings.
Cecil sent me. I always follow his instructions. The recommendations are always good.
Of course you follow his instructions, it's a felony not to
All hail the Glow Cloud

What beautiful weather we're having. 💜
Well said 💚, or rather... well written 😊
I was hoping to see someone from my town of Night Vale.
Indeed it is

Samezes! When I listened to the weather today this was easily one of the best songs that I've heard on Nightvale radio.
@@spikewolfwood6754 Haha, reading this immediately after pausing nightvale same same but 4 years later. It's so lovely
I cry to this a lot. Our world is in agony.
Welcome to night vale sent me and I'm so glad they did because this is beautiful, keep up the amazing stuff!
Man, I think this is by far my favorite weather to date. Such a strong song. I love it.
Impeccable songwriting. I found your song on Spotify, but came here to read the lyrics with the song. They are very powerful, succinct, and even though I'm an agnostic I appreciate such a very beautiful thought.
Night vale brought me here; I am not a Christian, but I admit that I cried at the last verse.

Fantastic and profound, 61 years have passed yet this is new to me . You see ? All life is poetry.
Beautifully said and even sad, all life is poetry

This is one of the best weathers to date its been occupying my mind for nearly a year since it was released and I still come back to hear the song again
This one of the best damn anti-war songs ever
Uh... you’ve obviously never heard the beautiful poetry of Private Baldrick then! But yeah jokes aside I agree.
Like many people in this section I first heard it in WTNV all these years ago, it left a deep impression on me and every now and then I just need to listen to it again
Not often do I hear a song that really gets to me. Thanks for this.
Holy shit I remember hearing this on night vale 7 years ago I forgot about it and recognized it by the thumbnail just now I loved this song
Another brought here by Night Vale. And many thanks.
My country (New Zealand) has just suffered its first terrorist attack. This is the song I need tonight as we reel from events that, in the words of our Prime Minister, are not who we are.
You're prime minister is a fool.
It's been a little while now. I hope things are going... better?

This is the first Night Vale weather I've really loved. It's beautiful and thoughtful and amazing.

what a beautiful song
This literally speaks to me on a spiritual level. Thank you for writing and performing this, Robby.
It's been a while since a song really touched me emotionally.
Amazing job.
incredible song
Beautiful
So beautiful 💜💛💚 keep up the good work Mr. Hecht.
Welcome to the blessed part of TH-cam.
Thanks to Welcome to Night Vale, I found this amazing artist, you are a wonderful story teller Robby!
This is SPECIAL. thanks, Cecil.
Such a great song, keep it up
i love it man
“Never think that war, no matter how necessary, nor how justified, is not a crime.” Ernest Hemingway
This is a beautiful, truthful and well expressed song. Thank you Robby.
This song makes my heart ache in the best way possible, I seriously can’t help but cry whenever I listen to it
love this!
Heard your song on Welcome to Night Vale, and I LOVE IT! Keep making music, man!
Came here from Welcome to Nightvale and I absolutely love this song :D
This is definitely my favorite Night Vale weather report by far.
Lovely weather.
Great weather today :)
Here we go again.
I nearly cried.
I still amazed that this song has only 25k visits :o
Back here again.
Look at that. You're back again
Gonna be a long day
And now for the weather! 🌪⛈
hearing an actual weather report made me so uncomfortable
I know right ?!
I almost cried
Haha right
Im worried this song might always be relevant

These once benign flying machines.
Shouting out of TV screens
The song of our times, unfortunately.
I'm actually not here from nightvale even though I do listen to it. I found the song before the weather came I guess...
The Weather was strong that day.
/GOOD WEATHER/
When you can pull off writing a 3rd verse about Trump then the 4th verse about Jesus you're a damn good songwriter :)
literally has nothing to do with someone's ability as a songwriter but okay
107 : The missing sky
👍🤜🤛👏👌💯
(Didn't know this was a WtNV weather report but happy anyway)

Why did you feel like this was comment that needed posting?
Cecil sent me. MAGA!
I wonder if you came to this song thinking "hey this sounds good” and then read the comments are were "hang on, it means WHAT?”.
Virtue signaling in song form.
