- This first E-Lecture on Predicate Logic is meant as a gentle introduction. It first points out why propositional logic alone is not sufficient for the formalization of sentence meaning and then introduces the central machinery of predicate logic using several examples with which the students can practice.

How would it work with a 3 place predicate like GIVE which has two possible constructions.
a) John gave flowers to Mary.
b)John gave Mary flowers.
Would we have for both: Give(john, flowers, mary) --after all the change of order does not change the meaning of the sentence, or would we have Give(john, flowers, mary) for (a) and Give(john, mary, flowers) to (b)?
He has already reveal in his lecture that predicate doesn't depend on tense, it is tenseless, and your both sentences gave the same meaning only the choice of words are different between these two sentences
Assalam-O-Alaikum
Sir I've one confusion that arguments avoiding the rules, 1st letter of proper noun can't be in lowercase, if every arguments wrote in lowercase so how will be distinguish between that nouns which is emphasize or that noun which is common???? consider if a sonny loves a jeune fille so its predicate will be love(sonny, jeune fille) and sonny can be both a common noun which means chokra, and a proper noun that indicate name of any person similarly jeune fille can be both a common noun which means chokri/yound girl who is not married and it may be a name of girl so how can we understand that sonny and jeune fille represent only a couple or a group of couples???? I think arguments should also be in upper case depending on the types of noun
