Takes me back to the 1950's when as a youngster I used to trainspot from the bridge at West Allerton. The bridge was raised c1958 to accommodate the catenary for the electrification. There were frequent freight services in those days, all steam powered. Occasionally there was unusual motive power; Crosti's and the Deltic. Train of the week was the '6.5 stopper' on Saturdays, always hauled by a pristine loco ex works from Crewe.
