- Praggnanandhaa took on Gukesh in the 2nd round of the FIDE Candidates 2024. Did you know Pragg and Gukesh hail from the same city (Chennai) and stay just a kilometre apart from each other! They travelled across the globe to play the Candidates. And what a game we witnessed. Pragg came all out to crush Gukesh and was very well prepared. Would Gukesh manage to hold himself or would he get completely squashed? Check out the game with the commentary by IM Sagar Shah.

100th anniversary ❌ completed 100 years of existence ✅
1:34 This is how Pragg likes it😆
Pragg couldn't convert the created pressure into a win. Gukesh excellent defence.
Thank you.
-Mukesh Kumar
I don't see the reason why gukesh is so underrated. Even in newspaper( TOI) the headline was Praggnanandhaa forces Firouzja to split points in big bold letters whereas gukesh was mentioned later. In my opinion Gukesh deserves as much or even more praise than pragg.
PS I have been rooting for Gukesh since Norway Chess 2023
It's just Pragg has been on the top level for a little longer and has had some interesting matches with Carlsen. Both are gems of India.
@@harshrajjadhav940 At top level it's actually gukesh who has played more top events... But yes pragg's game against magnus did catch a lot of eyeballs
Just a matter of time period. Pragg has been famous since his childhood. Gukesh is a relatively late bloomer. Ofcourse he is just 17. But everyone remembers seeing Prag as that genius 12 year old child.
Y'all I also saw only praggs news on newspaper , I have never seen vidit and gukesh in the paper..
Big L , prag >>> gukesh most of a time lol stfu
Those TWO INDIAN FLAG makes me proud of these two, both have long way to go
Happy for Gukesh😊😊
But Pragg will comeback Strong!!
Tamil always makes us pride as 🇮🇳 . They manufacture geniuses and preserve culture.
I offered prayers for Gukesh to win before the beginning of the Candidates tournament...I wish he wins the tournament and probably I will be the happiest fan ❤
Me too! 🙋 Go Gukesh 💖🌟

You're not alone brother

Both are from Chennai and I expected them to be discussing the game in local language with a laugh. No love lost 😂😅
well played GUKESH!!!!
Excellent defence by gukeah
17:18 I was completely unprepared for ChessBAE.
i feel bad for pragg, he's such a strong player...however Gukesh is my favorite...great game by both players
Prag's deep preparation was resisted and outlasted by Gukesh's deep calculation. It was a match that would go into chess folklore.
Prag will do well in the remaining matches of candidates. I am worried about Vaishali. I am afraid she will end up at the bottom of Women's Candidates event.
Vaishali's time management is truly terrible, she always end up in time trouble while her opponents have all the time in the world. She ends up making a blunder in an equal position in time trouble and lose. She needs to win today with white against Salimova to stand any chance
Well done Gukesh. Pragg also played well. Gukesh played very cool.
wow well played both, good fight by both . Super Gukesh, good defense
17:10 so many folds lol
won't fit-on in the pocket if the fold 'is big-/-/
It is a treat to watch Gukesh play. f5 and Ra7 stars i must say
Gukesh defense was insane
at 13:42, instead of queen g5, imagine if pawn e7 was played, the probabilities which come out are wonderful ?
1:30 so it is BANANA🍌here...
it was RED JUICE 🍷in Vidit vs Hikaru game ... Keep going SAGAR 😆
Balancing the pressure of contest as well as the camera focus both are so difficult...well adjusted to everything 👍🏽
What if the cameramen accidentally drop the camera and mess up the board?
😂😂😂😂😂
Camera is far away from the board
15:13 I think pragg should play Ne7😅😅
my two favorite players.
In Prague it was pragg that was winning.
~ Sagar Shah 2024
I see you 😅
Bro that was sick💪💪💪
Just before pragg resigned.. How about queen d8 giving a check... Any kind of perpetual possible?
Pragg’s head-to-head score with Gukesh is puzzling - he seems to make more mistakes with Gukesh than others.. hope that trend ends soon
Yeah that's weird gukesh is praggs kryptonite 😂
The math equation a>b>c works different in chess analogy. Gukesh > pragg > sarin > erigaisi > vidit > gukesh. It's a chain cycle on h2h.
@@vinothv56vidit> Gukesh? No way
@@vinothv56gukesh just beat vidit yesterday
Pragg is on fire
I'm new to this can someone please explain where they keep going between the moves? are they using the toilet? are they not allowed to see each other's moves?
They mostly go around watching other games.
If you are fighting an uphill battle, you stay in your seat.
This has been my personal experience playing chess.
I do not think they go to the toilet and they bring refreshments like orange juice with them.
@@Parasuraman-ey4wo ohh thanks :)
Excellent defense from gukesh
you are the best narrator sagar
chennai sir, note it
Where are the going again and again
Sagar bhai board ke sath time bhi lagadoge to accha rahega, and thank you for this osm video
Sagar bhai try to post quickly
Pragg always gives a dead fish when he shakes hands. Someone needs to teach him.
Is Rook d4 a good move for Prag ?
Gukesh ❤ is more of an instinctive, ON THE BOARD innovative player while Pragg. is a well tutored player.
Unfortunate that even when Gukesh beats Pragg. people condemn him with faint praise!
Yes bro😢😅
So truly articulated
I think Arjun and Gukesh are better players. They don't have nerves for the big games. It will improve. Gukesh's ambition is too serious.
@@IndiaTides
We tend to forget that GUKESH is just a 17 year old kid!
As you say his composure will improve with age. Wish him - and all the Indian players- the very best👍✨
Hope to see Gukesh against Pragg play world chess championship someday
Praag among us jadha Play ker ne leg gaya 🙃
Praggnanandhaa with a banana lol
Naughty😂
@@jazzydriven2784 actually praggnanandhaa and banana rhyme. That's why I wrote it. No pun intended
Sagar bhai great analysis and content as always!

Maybe we can avoid acting like we are seeing the moves for the first time, that just makes the commentary look a bit artificial.
Pragg should have came dancing to the room.. When he dance,he dominates and gukesh showed why is indians no 1 currently.. What i feel is hikaru and pragg both came to the tournament to play out of theory games
Gukesh played very well
Gukesh and his team have researched all Pragg games extremely thorough and always Guki has the best answer to all Pragg nuances... Pragg has to do some special preps to beat Guki...
Special prep made him lose by sacing 2 pawns
1:28
Ey is Pragg sister single👀
Gukesh very safe moved 😊
Pragg looks like he is 15 year old but gukesh meanwhile looks like he in his 20s
At 9:42 , after BishopC8 can't gukesh take the knight as pragg cannot recapture it as it is pinned??
No. If Gukesh captures the knight, then pawn takes would come with a check.
Oh now I got it thanks bro! @@abhishekks1668
Bu oyunda prag hayal dünyasında yaşamış blöf hücumlar yapmış beyazlar kendini Tal sanmış

Gukesh vs Vidit will be the final of the candidates 2024👑🇮🇳
Prag ❤
So both are from Tamil Nadu??
Yes
Yes
They both are from same coaching centre from Chennai and they are best friends from childhood ❤
That rook killed pragg
Nihal is missplace somewhere
bhai mugha to hsy ajaty ita camera dekh ka
they lose a piece it's a sacrifice
when i do its a blunder???
Bro this match prag is throw for gukesh
Telugu boy gukesh what a powerful mind bro... Congrats, hard luck pragg
Indian boy Gukesh is one the 👌
@@MJ-qr5xw I learned this from northern guys mainly from punjabis , delhi and mumbai sports guys always hype their states and cities. Never mention india at all.
@@chinninaveen000Doesn't mean you should adopt that. Moreover Gukesh is Tamilan with Telugu Parents. Stop attaching states first its north south after that telugu tamil😐
@@rjesh2062 what did I do wrong? I just said his origin that's it....i learned it from proud northern athletes, You come up with all that tamil telugu stuff ..
@@chinninaveen000 I never seen any northern why you try to Insult our state we Tamil proud Indian. Yr dividing policy don't work here
The way they both put kings at the centre.😊😊
Is that hikaru back there? 😂
Yeah
Why Gukesh did not take R×f7 when pragg's queen was pinned by gukesh's Bishop
because PxF7 is check and White can protect it's queen.
If you took the night i could take the pawn then your king would be check that’s why he couldn’t take it
Please sugar what is the reason pragg he can beat all strong gm as abdusatrov hikaru vidit but he can’t beat gukesh i suppose gukesh understood his techniques am i right if you believe like me put like in this comment also you can suggest what you believe reply
So Pragg is not very much excited about the tour without Magnus... His greatest admirer
I've lost faith in Praggs ability to win, After all these years, his time management is still poor, which makes him lose so many games. With his solid style, his journey to win this years candidates is almost over until some miracle happens. He now probably need to win at least four or five games. Nijat will lose to Fabi twice most likely, So 9 .5 will be winners score.
Tamilnadu OP
Is he called Gukesh or Mukesh, or both?
Gukesh
11:45 where pragg over thinked , but still Indian won the game 😅😅😅😅
Why did the organisers want the Indian players to play each other in the initial stages @Sagar Shah
So that they can't fix matches at the end of the tournament..lol
Wasn't just indian..fabi had to play hikauru as well in the first match
@@hdmotivated I know that...but I wanted to know the reason
@@digitalsparrow_8599 so no collusion. Or perceived collusion
So there will be less possibility that the candidates from the same country will be challenging for the final spot, much more entertaining & elements of drama 🎭
Pragg lost because of going for the win. He miscalculated his chances.
also because pragg whent into gukesh's strong zone, gukesh is very very good in on spot calculation, logic and solving for from complex position but is very less experienced compared to pragg
Someone explain me. Why both players going somewhere and come back and playing. I know how to play but i don't know this rules and regulations 😢😢😢
There can be several reasons. They may want to use the restroom or just stretch. Players are allowed to leave their seats but need to stay within the building.
@@vinodvenkatesan1432 no time limit,??
@@Mrsaysaw The time keeps ticking but the players can be at the board or elsewhere. They only need to be at the board to make their move.
So say Gukesh's clock is at 11:00 minutes and his opponent's clock is ticking. It means his opponent needs to make a move. Gukesh goes for a walk and his opponent makes a move and hits the clock. Gukesh's time starts counting down from 11:00. Gukesh is back at the table after walking for 2 minutes so his clock is at 9:00 now. He thinks and makes a move. Remember, these guys are GMs. They don't need to look at the board to analyze it. The position is in their head so even in his "walk", he's actually analyzing the position and thinking about what his opponent can play and what he can play etc.
Pragggood
I have seen indian players not analyzing the game after match when playing against each other whereas they do it with foreign players , is it a sign of being extra Competitive against each other.
Pragg to lose today from vidit, pragg will get many chances in future but vd may not
gukesh eat pragg in dinner 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Pragg did the same against Rapport recently!! Why need to push himself so much if nothing exists on the board!!!!!
