    I saw it coming once I reached chapter 3 but I had this ridiculous theory while playing that I wanna share, So I thought Tsumugi was Junko in disguise, I thought that after all the games Junko was still living and Tsumugi was a costume for Junko. I also had a theory that Atua was gonna be the mastermind but then I kinda backed away from that theory once Angie died.

    Interesting theory 👀
    I want to add, while I'm not sure on this point or not, what was with the monokubs? Back in chapter two if I remember correctly, Monosuke slipped up on a very important clue. Why? The entire gag between Monotaro and Monophanie? It's always rung odd to me. If tsumugi truly did not have all the control over the characters, would Monosuke ever really slipped up? Like with Junko, she did a nice job of keeping Monokuma from giving away and too-obvious hints, and when he did, she was always able to cover them up. If tsumugi did write this story, why wasn't monosuke able to cover up his slip up?
    Now, for my point on the gag between Monotaro and Monophanie, let me elaborate. While this could easily be passed off as something the was supposed to comic relief, think of the topic the gag contained. During Tsumugi's love suit where you see her ideal fantasy, it shows that her fantasies have similar topics of that of the relationship between those two monokubs. If Tsumugi did write the story, would it not make sense for her to intentionally write that as well?

    • @kiera6326
      @kiera6326 3 ปีที่แล้ว +35

      Yes, there is a very over-the-top theme of incest in V3, and they make perfect sense with Tsumugi in mind. The way I see it is, Tsumugi doesn’t control Monokuma or the cubs. They are their own independent A.I. Whilst Tsumugi probably had a hand in writing them, as the arc between Monophanie and Monotaro would suggest, Danganronpa Team probably were the ones that programmed them, and they probably programmed them to be incompetent and drop hints every now and then. You have to remember, that nothing is a surprise for the audience watching. They already know who Rantaro Amami and Tsumugi Shirogane is, and that everything is a reality show. They aren’t giving anything away to the audience. And with fifty-three different seasons, of course some of the casts for those seasons would have been disposable. What I mean is, it’s not the end of the world if they all end up dying at the first class trial, or figuring things out at the beginning every once in a while. And if that was against Tsumugi’s vision (which it clearly was), they can always add in another flashback light. Whilst Monokuma is clearly programmed to enjoy and prolong the killing game as much as possible, the cubs are obviously not the same. Monokuma probably has a duty of secrecy to the mastermind, but the cubs (and also Motherkuma) do not.
      I also think it may be possible that the cubs simply didn’t know who the mastermind was. It’s quite unlikely, considering the way they panic when Tsumugi is brought up in chapter 6, is, and change the topic every time Tsumugi says something immediately after they’ve they’ve said something semi-revealing (which is a very nice destin in hindsight, actually), but I still think it may explain a few things. Possibly, they couldn’t recognise “Tsumugi Shirogane=mastermind,” but probably “that voice=mastermind,” and are programmed to either shut up or change the subject to whatever she talks about when they hear her voice.

    Interesting theory,at the ending when Tsumugi was about to die,I thought she frowned because she started regretting her actions,or rethinking her feelings,like she wanted to be just like Junko for some reason,be satisfied with despair,but in the end,she didn't understand why despair was so satisfying,questioning if masterminding a killing game was really what she wanted,but this theory makes more sense,I came up with what I thought with a headcanon backstory,but now that I think about it,it would make more sense if I say,before she was about to get crushed,she started coming back to her real self,that sounds more right than what I came up with

  • @druthomas644
    @druthomas644 3 ปีที่แล้ว +47

    in my mind i always felt like since they were all given false memories through out the game/their talents, that would mean that it was likely that tsumugi and rantaro were also given memories of being the mastermind/survivor to complete the story that team danganronpa wanted to tell, also meaning they were probably just regular teens before this too (which i think they’re free time event’s show too), at the end of the day it was always team danganronpa’s fault (unless maybe they all did actual agree to be in the killing game, but still…) i think the only the thing that went wrong other than the end (maybe) was the first chapter with kaede missing her shot but even then that maybe was planned all along to add a more interesting (despair-filled) storyline? i also still think this fits with kaito and maki cause they probably did know they would live longer then most characters/maybe they didn’t care as long as it could’ve made the killing game more interesting for the audience? anyways i’ve always theorized a lot on this so had to ramble

    • @-.Abstract.-
      @-.Abstract.- ปีที่แล้ว

      I always thought of this as well! In order to fill the roles that were needed for the story, they also gave tsumugi and rantaro memories of being the mastermind/survivor when in reality they were neither and just playing through a role they were given. It’s good to know I’m not the only one that thought of that theory.

    I actually had a weird theory before finishing the game that Rantaro was supposed to be like Mukuro, in that he was supposed to be a second in command to Tsumugi and blend in by helping others. The one thing that sparked this theory of mine is the Steam card with Tsumugi and Rantaro in the same card labeled “The Past”. Thinking of the connections even with Rantaro being an example of what happens in the game, him going to the mastermind’s room, and him being seemingly too helpful to everyone including after his death. I mean, yeah, looking back on it, not a great theory, but still has some pieces that line up.

    One other thing I'd like to point out in regards to Tsumugi not being the mastermind is in the prologue. If she was the mastermind, she'd be telling the monokubs off for not doing the proper set up. But she's just as confused and scared as everyone in the very beginning before they got their Ultimate Talents.
    Though one fun theory I just thought of, the rules say the killing game ends when two survivors are left. What if Tsumugi and Rantaro won the last killing game? That would be a a fun theory to cover with that rule in mind

    I always stuck between two theories for Tsumugi of who she really is.
    1. She works for Team Danganronpa and was a fan of the series her whole life. Eventually got a job at the official studios and work on a few projects on some other killing games(designing outfits and adding a few suggestions for backgrounds or the story of the game). One day she was promoted to being able to be the mastermind of her own killing game! After years of work and feeling like she finally can be something for once, she took ease of joining the game. At the end though, she is sad her game ended up as the last one and can never be able to be a somebody again…
    2. Like your theory, Tsumugi was brainwashed into the killing game. I imagine she was a Danganronpa fan of the shows and really wanted to join in as a constant(without knowing that she can actually die in the game and that it is not fake game show). She enter the 52th killing game and survive with Rantaro, since they were the last two survivors and can’t continue the game further, they win the prize of one of them being the mastermind for the next game and the other the Ultimate Survivor. Of course….they had to take a few measures and brainwash them to forget some things and add new memories for the 53rd killing game. In her last moments at the end, she suddenly remembered bits by bit of what happened to her and frowns upon the fact she was tricked into the worse thing in her life.

    i have another interesting point! in the audition videos, one of the three said they were a big fan of the show. i believe it was shuichi, but i don't remember. who's also a huge fan of danganronpa? tsumugi. it would make sense that she would audition. i think it also makes sense that she wanted to be the ultimate cosplayer, because a lot of dr fans are cosplayers irl. junko is also the most cosplayed character in all media, and who's a huge junko fangirl? tsumugi. they could've added this after recruiting her into the cast of the show, but i wanted to share anyways. one thing i read somewhere before against this theory was that the other person excepting the same punishment as rantaro got executed. i think your theory is a lot more believable though, since they specifically mentioned two people accepting the punishment, and could've just said rantaro excepted the punishment. i have another thing that makes sense. if she accepted the same fate as ran, then she did it for hope, to let the other two survive. what does she do at the end of v3? not vote, specifically for hope. it would make sense that she did this for a second time. great theory! :)
    just thought of more evidence- rantaro's lab. we know the death order is hard to predict, but they got them mostly right. kaede, ryoma, kirumi, angie, tenko, kork, and kaito. we know some of them were revealed early for other purposes (gonta, miu, maki), but the others followed the orders of death. this means they had a general idea. where does ran's pop up, though? chapter five. much long after he's been bonked. this means they could've thought ran would make it that far. and tsumugi, who is a potential fake mastermind and is rantaro's murderer, didn't know this. this is kinda flimsy evidence, though, since we know kokichi's was never properly revealed, and other's were revealed early with no purpose. maybe they wrote several different routes of murders? like, gonta killing himiko in chapter two. perhaps this was why their labs were revealed that early?

    honestly i had a similar theory but not really. its more of a headcannon but i feel like if tsumugi died earlier, the mastermind would change to someone else, like someone else would be brain washed, to ensure the killing game wouldnt end too early. for example, if tsumugi was found out for killing rantaro in chapter 1, she’d be executed for real and someone else would take her place as mastermind. i emphasize the words “for real” to say her execution wouldnt be faked

      I think, knowing who was next for the chopping block, wanted to make the most out of knowing them, and also possibly so she could use it for an excuse for why her input was so little later on. There’s a reason why it takes her until chapter 5 to actually have a conversation with Shuichi, and why she makes sure to interact a lot with Kaede in chapter 1.

    (Warning: This ended up way longer than anticipated.)
    Speaking of MatPat, I think I've got one theory that definitely would fit his style. If I were to guess who the true mastermind really is, I'd say that it would be none other than... Nagito Komaeda!
    Obviously, this theory would only work if the Hope's Peak timeline really did happen, but if you look at it from that angle, I think there might be some potential. First off, we know that Nagito is not above killing other people, just as long as there's some hope value to the act. We also know that his thought process is a little bit... off, to say the least. From my understanding, just before Nagito became the Ultimate Lucky Student for Hope's Peak, he was diagnosed with a form of Alzheimer's disease. I don't remember the details, but I do believe that it partially explains why he thinks the way he does. Keep in mind that the world was still in disarray when he was brought back, meaning that there would be a large amount of time where he would be able to see plenty of hope as society was being rebuilt.
    Of course, eventually the world's going to get back into normal working order, which would seemingly negate the need for hope. This would become evident to Nagito, whose Alzheimer's would affect his thinking even further (his luck keeping him alive, of course), and eventually lead him to setting out to create a killing game of his own, re-creating the hope that he experienced in the one that he went through. While it's hard to determine how he would go about this, it's possible that he may have found some sickos who were genuinely entertained by the Hope's Peak killing game, and were willing to create more, which would involve finding and setting up a location, and kidnapping various sets of teenagers to act as participants. He may have also had access to the means he needed to create the flashback lights through the Neo World Program, with some modifications, obviously.
    While there's no guarentee that Nagito would live throughout the entire series (luck can only take you so far), I do think he was able to see the hope that was generated from his sadistic form of entertainment, shining through the despair that he created himself.

    • @newbiegamelover4767
      @newbiegamelover4767 ปีที่แล้ว

      I no longer believe this. My headcanon is now that Monaca (from UDG) is the true mastermind. If Nagito died from his brain disease, he would not have the brain power to set up a televised killing game without anyone finding it and stopping him, no matter how lucky he is.
      Monaca, on the other hand, still has the genius and the nature to do so. Also, how long can one child stay in orbit before she either runs out of food/beverages, is tired of playing the same videogames over and over again, or, most serious, go without any sort of toilet?

  • @lynhart1610
    @lynhart1610 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Your theory was really good and made me think a bit. I personally have my own theory, tho it might be a bit...far fetched. And it also kinda relates to your idea about Tsumugi not having a full control of the killing game.
    Tho I personally don’t really think she was in the previous killing game. As you said, a killing game is unpredictable and one of the rule mentioned that the killing game would continue until there’s only two people left(or something like that idk) The final chapter could only have 3 participants left and only Rantaro needs to be sacrificed. After all, it be weird if every season had an “Ultimate Survivor” it be too boring and predictable(but then again it could happen)
    But anyways back to the topic, even though Tsumugi was the mastermind, she can’t do everything alone. I mean yeah Junko did but that’s because she was hidden and was monitoring everything on the hidden room. While Tsumugi on the other hand, is not. She’s constantly busy pretending to be a normal student in front of others. Even though she visits the hidden room often, it be impossible to keep in track of everything that’s happening in the academy. So who’s helping you ask? The Danganronpa Team. I mean the show is broadcast to the entire world! Someone has to work on the cameras and stuff. Tho the Kiibo thing... umm I’ll get to that soon..
    Anyways part of my theory is that they’re all AIs expect Tsumugi since she’s the mastermind and stuff. The Danganronpa Team made an AI world and basically given the mastermind which is Tsumugi a VR headset and well, construct the killing game.
    But that’s not the part I really want to talk about. I was thinking... What if this whole killing game is mostly planned? I know it’s bizarre but think about it, Danganronpa(in their world) has been really successful and yet somehow it just ended? Again I know this is a VERY bizarre theory, but maybe it’s because in my perspective, some of the trials are very predictable. I’m not calling myself a genius HECK I’M VERY FAR FROM IT. But think about it, if you had the information about the motives and the characters beforehand, it’s easier to figure out the other of the deaths-YES I’M SAYING THE ACTUAL MASTERMIND OF THE KILLING GAME IS WORKING FOR TEAM DANGANRONPA! And Tsumugi could actually be the person responsible as well, and it could also be Rantaro. In my opinion tho, the person responsible of the ending Danganronpa is.............not a participant. It makes more sense to me that somehow an outsider was involved and Tsumugi is cooperating with them. Rantaro and Kokichi might in this as well.... but I’m not sure. And if you’re wondering why I’m including Kokichi in this is because he’s most likely the main reason why everything fell apart. I mean, the reason it’s pretty obvious. Then again he could also be the TRUE mastermind of the whole thing and the outsider is just a relative or someone close to him who agreed to cooperate OR MAYBE IT COULD BE THE OTHER WAY AROUND! Maybe the outsider is using his intelligence to mess up the game system. WHO KNOWS!! THIS THEORY IS FREAKIN CRAZY THAT IT JUST MIGHT WORK!!
    Oh btw I feel like Tsumugi and Kiibo could be Team Danganronpa interns. Yes Kiibo too, I read a comic about it somewhere I can’t remember.. it was related with the thing Tsumugi talk about the survey stuff.. don’t remember the full details but it sorta made sense. It’s hard to explain why since the reason is a WHOLE other story, and it’s about the ending of how did the three survivors. It’s a REALLY bizarre theory I know.
    Thanks to whoever actually finishes reading this crazy theory of mine. I just want to share it.
    And I almost forget to mention about the part you said that Tsumugi being a cosplayer and she would be more suited as a character designer, Yeah I agree. She probably did wrote some parts like Shuichi and Kaede switching roles and the ummm.. incest stuff... But that’s all I wanted share, thanks for reading!!

    I do like the Tsumugi was just given the role like everyone else theories, I will say the reason there was two sacrifices was due to the fact the killing game goes to the final two so how many sacrifices is based on how many people are left. Also Tsumugi is nothing like Junko she only acted like her for the story which was why she as Junko smiled at the end but as herself she was sad as Dangaronpa had ended.

  • @scoots6700
    @scoots6700 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I do like the theory but I also just think that Tsumugi’s role as the mastermind was just a cheap way of trying to create a plot twist and I think the devs may have been lost with what to do to make the ending interesting and different compared to the other games. I personally think the writing for Tsumugi was a bit lazy and lackluster I think Tsumugi would’ve been An amazing antagonist my main problem is just the breaking of the fourth wall felt very bland to me and I think them breaking the world building that they’ve been working on since Trigger Happy Havoc was a misplay on their part.
    They could’ve finished the game on a different cliffhanger an intense one with a true antagonist behind it all someone with almost just as much control over the world as junko but still found a way to give that fresh feeling with different motives other than despair and maybe an actual organization of like ultimates or something they could’ve made this crazy mind fuck or something idk.
    Another reason I don’t like the fourth wall break is because it’s like especially for a character like Rantaro it would be so much more interesting in my opinion if he actually went through a killing game and somehow found his way back into another one other than just he won so they basically just took his character file and put it into a different game.
    I think SDR did a pretty good job for making the ending something special which sure they did implement the “it was all game nothing here actually happened!!” It’s a bit different since they did find a way to add depth to it And make it add to the world building and have purpose my only problem if it is big junko but that’s besides the point. The things with Izuru and all the despairs and Nagito did so much for the world building for danganronpa and it was a crazy plot twist that for me at least I didn’t really see coming.

    I feel like the actual mastermind is Monaca. The monokubs have the same colors as the warriors of hope, monaca would still be alive in space even if the earth was destroyed, and shes good with technology. We can see that there are a lot of technology involved in danganronpa v3 like the backrounds of the last trial.
    It makes me wonder if V3 is just a simulation Monaca created

    I got theory about Rantaro and mastermind in 52 killing game.
    So we all know that Rantaro is ultimate survivor. But why? There we have two options :
    1. Rantaro killed someone and pepole picked wrong person.
    Or
    2. Rantaro survived with mastermind.
    But who can be that mastermind? Ofc someone from DR V3, but they got brainwashed to let someone else be mastermind in 53 killing game (becouse it would be boring for (as tsumugi said) pepole who watch danganronpa series). Also i think i know who was the mastermind. In Rantaro's lab was alot of roses, and which character have roses in main sprite? Only Korekiyo. Also his ultimate "ultimate antrypologist" sounds as good one for mastermind. What do you think?

  • @fossilartstudios5878
    @fossilartstudios5878 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I got a problem with that! We can’t confirm how many survivors were in 52 , each game the rules change and while a 2 survivor or 1 blackened is a clean and neat end point for a killing game there could be more or less survivors , while 53 was set in a post apocalyptic world 52 was set on a topical island so we could expect a 5-6 survivor count , personally the way Rantaro explained how he choose to continue always made me feel like he didn’t need to participate again but if he didn’t the killing games would just keep repeating and in fact without him in this killing game it would have kept going

    I think this theory's very weak in general:
    The main argument here is that since Keebo wasn't fully erased, it means she isn't the mastermind. There are a lot of problems with that: She could still be the mastermind and be unable to properly reboot Keebo. There's nothing that implies that she's good at robotics, programming or anything machine related, so it is entirely possible that the "reboot function" malfunctioned and she can't adress it because of her lack of expertise in that area. It could also be due to the fact that Keebo has a soul you robophobe (this is a joke.). Maybe you need a terminal to properly change anything in Keebo, the point is; there are a lot of ways of justifying her lack of full control over Keebo.
    The second argument is so messy I even have trouble elaborating the issues with it. But from what I can gather: She is cosplaying as Junko, then the cosplay falls off, and we see her with a deep and sad expression. This means that the "Mastermind Tsumugi" mask has fallen, she's sad because she was tricked, and that's her true nature.
    The way I interpreted her death was that she was cosplaying as Junko because she was the mastermind, so it made sense for her to dress as the first mastermind right before her death. And her sad expression? Well Shuichi and co. did apparently end all killing games, killing games that's she's a big fan of(and supposedly even is part of the Team organizing them), so it just makes sense for her to feel defeated.

    I hated 3rd part, for totally destroying our *Junko perfect plan* memory. Like, suddenly, Junko did not even existed and total sidekick was *all Ultimate Mastermind* .
    But it was FANS fault, sadly. Even V3, as I heard, was suppoused to symbolize 53 crazy people, who send death threats and next parts demands to authors. 🤷🏻‍♀️
    So tired, they practically CUTTED peoples sick demands AND reminded them IT IS FICTION. 😫
    ... But WHY all other, normal fans
    had to be forced to remember? 💔
    I wanna JUNKO. And for it being 'fiction', better fig here will be Hifumi... ALSO, one interesting detail:
    *IF Rantaro was fiction...*
    Was not 'surviving previous game' a bit much for background, who ended MUCH BIGGER, than suppousedly 'mastermind of it all'? 🤨
    Sad, how weak and pathetic Tsumugi was made. 🤷🏻‍♀️
    Just hope, that Danganronpa S will DEMASKATE this 'all fiction' ending. 😑
