My nephew was stationed at LeMoore for 4 years and just wanted to get through his hitch. I kept telling him how jealous I was that he was surrounded by so many Super Hornets and pilots. He also got to land on the Nimitz in the Persian Gulf on a Cod, I told him again how lucky he was to get to land on a carrier.
@@mike28003 probably 25 years or so. It's a E model. Relatively young by military standards. When compared to things like the B-52 which went into service in 1951
@Frank Silvers Actually the Rhino has a Bigger Combat range over the Viper with 100 miles over it. The Rhino also has 11 hard points compared to the Vipers 8, so it has more flexibility when it comes to armament as well.
Rarely do you see military jets land at civilian commercial fields. Fuel costs are much more than military fields and if they break there is no ground maintenance crews there. Must have been an event like a flyover event and their maintenance teams on deck

The designation F-18 does exist, so there is no need for six exclamation marks. The manufacturers sell the fighters to different governments with different equipment and weapon systems, so they may also have a different designation. And you can't tell the F-18 and F/A-18 apart simply by looking at it. For example, The Royal Canadian Air force operates F-18 s, even though their official designation is CF-18 (The letter C for Canada) The Finnish Air Force has used F-18's from 1990's. Those planes were later upgraded with high end Air-To-Ground capability, but the designation was never officially changed to F/A-18. The F (Fighter) is considered a defensive weapon system, while F/A (Fighter/Attack) is seen as a more offensive one. For political reasons, it is often much easier to get funding for weapon systems for defending your own country than those for attacking others.
how can anyone not get choked up seeing these beautiful machines flown by the best aviators in the world who are our fellow citizens.
Proud to be finnish and a brother to a f18 pilot
Amen!!!
Yep
Absolutely breath taking. I've seen then at Barksdale AFB during air shows. They sound exquisite. Thanks for posting.

Good take off, good flying, good landing 💙
VFA-22 #105, the jet @ 1:36 now sadly lays half torn down in a boneyard in Arizona.
Why is it in the bone yard already they are new jets.

Thank you for sharing.
Great footage!!! My country is considering buying 40 of these to replace our old F-16's
@Frank Silvers : because they are about 40 years old. But is till regret they didn't buy European. Europe makes great fighter planes too
@Frank Silvers It isn't just about if its a good fighter or not, stuff like range are very important too, especially for big countries such as canada

@Frank Silvers by what metric
Beautiful F/A-18Fs, they were carrying one external fuel tank and the ATFLIR
U see these all over key west florida. the base down there has plenty of them. pretty cool

The F-18 does have internal fuel tanks. But all fighters can have an external one hooked up to the belly.
The sound of FREEDOM!

It takes litteraly no space to be airborne, so cool !
That is what happens when your thrust is greater than your weight... you can pretend to be a rocket
Kick ass video man. Watching Hornets taxi and take off at close range is better than sex.
The Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Team Now Flies This Exact Model Of The Super Hornet
The E model is what they fly
Yea they fly the single seater. They do have a F model for demo rides
What were they doing at the Burbank air port
They were there to do a stadium flyover for the 2010 Rose Bowl game.

You are so lucky that this was at a public civilian airport, because if you recorded this video at a military airport, you could've been arrested.
