I've had this particular cd recording for almost 20 years and never tire of it.. It's perfection. The choir is amazing, everything is amazing. This is one CD you should own. There isn't as good or better recording of Exsultate Jubilate out there.
@CCRider Lucky you. I unfortunately missed the one time I know of that she performed in Calgary years ago.
Dame Emma Kirkby has a rare clarity to her voice. A perfect soprano. She can sing across the board and excels with Purcell and Mozart.

You are exactly right - a voice unforced and natural! Of my several recordings of this piece by the unique genius of Mozart, 17 years of age at the time, Dame Kirkby's voice and sense of music illuminates its effortless uplifting flow and lyricism as none other.
This was one of the recordings that really turned my wife and I on to Mozart, and to period instruments. A great piece of music and a phenomenal performance in every respect.
Mozart has three editions of the motet "Exultate, jubilate": The first one is from Milan and two from Salzburg. Emma Kirkby performs the first Salzburg edition.

Those beautiful angels playing fancy instruments decorate the dome of the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of Miracles in Saronno, 20km north of Milan, which, by chance, happens to be my parish church. I'm feeling so extremely proud...

I once had a vision while listening to this performance! Emma's voice was what drew me to early music in my youth. I don't listen to a lot of Mozart, although I love his clarinet concerto, but this is something else!

Is there an error in the description? It says this is the 1733 version, but Mozart would not have been born yet.
Should be 1773 I think.

Seriously what version is this? My score, the breitkopf publication, has completely different words
I did some digging online and it appears Mozart made some revisions a number of years later in Salzburg. I like the revisions better personally ! This version of the score seems to have it : www.baerenreiter.com/en/shop/product/details/BA4897_90/

Hi, I was wondering if you could provide a link to the text they have chosen to perform in this recording. I have another version for the first Aria and Recitative and cannot seem to find this particular one. I don't have access to my records, otherwise it would have been no problem. Thanks in any case.
