    Your Tears for Fears t-shirt is EVERYTHING! My daughter and I saw them in June of 2023 at Madison Square Garden in NYC - their first time there! They were amazing. But I digress - love your video! As I plan for my retirement, so many people have mentioned Oaxaca that I have added it to my list.

    I do love all the colorful displays. the paper ART and paintings... even the colored pencils add to the decor! I am delighted to see all of the plants and the varieties of flowers. The unique kitchen arrangement is similar to my in-laws place in Puebla. My husband had a kitchen installed to make dishwashing more convenient, but they still bus the dishes to the outdoor area sink to wash them. Just hard to let go of traditions I suppose? I do love fresh squeezed orange juice... amazing life!

    It looks like a lovely place. I love all the artesanía and the garden. We built our home in Mexico poco a poco over the last 10 yrs. When we bought it there was a one room, part adobe, part cement block house with a dirt floor, which we renovated and then added on year by year. My husband’s Mexican and our house is built in quite a traditional style, with lots of details like arched windows with brick details. We also have to go outside to get from room to room, but we have arranged it so that there are overhangs and awnings/tile-look laminate roofs so you can get from room to room without getting wet. When we have guests, it’s nice that they each have direct access from their room to the terrace. We do have a sink in the kitchen, and each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. That was important to me, so no one has to go outside in the night to use the bathroom! We have a large covered patio where we spend a lot of our time, rain or shine. Definitely indoor-outdoor living. As with any house build, there are things I’d do differently if I could go back, but it’s still very much my happy place.

What are the rocks for in the kitchen? No hallways seems kinda weird but you are making it work, well done! Very glad that your bed is comfy.

Kudos Gina Curious if the Duenos (owners) are Gringos or Mexican because of the unique and again cool decor? I don't think I'd want to go outside in the middle of the night especially in the rain go to the washroom. It's hard enough to go downstairs. What kind of drone do you have and would you recommend it? I would love to get one for when I head south. Here in Canada depends upon the size you get you need actually a special license to fly it. Do you need a license to fly it in Mexico? Looking forward to more videos of Oaxaca😊❤

      Yeah Joan, the middle of the night trip to the head in the rain is no bueno! We have a DJI Air2S drone. There are similar weight restrictions here in Mexico and ours is very close and we say that it is under. That is our story and we are sticking to it. LOL DJI is one of the leaders in the drone market and we have had good success with it. Every once and awhile it gets goofy with the user interface, but Gina has mastered this problem now that we have encountered it a few times.

    Hi what route do you all recommend to travel to Oaxaca from Mcallen, TX?

    • @GringosRUs
      @GringosRUs  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If I was making the drive, I would go to Saltillo on day one. Then to Aguascalientes on day two. To the far side of Queretaro on day 3 or if you depart at the crack of dawn, you could make Puebla on day 3. Then on to Oaxaca on the last day. We try to limit ourselves to no more than 9 hours a day if possible. We want to be checking into our Auto Motel around 4 or 5. I recommend researching the Auto Motels in the cities that you want to stay in. They are affordable, have garages and we have found them to be very clean. If you can find an Auto Hotel it is even better as they are used to people staying for the entire night. We have a video on them and the website that I use to scout them out is on that video. I recommend printing out the top rated four or five in each city, and that way you can enter them into your GPS. The drive from Saltillo to Aguascalientes is a long one with beautiful scenery, but gas stations are at a premium. Use them when you see them. Hope that helps. Give us a shout if you have any other questions.
