This game represents the difficulties the gods have to go through to answer the prayers of the mortals. It shows that even for the gods, even one as powerful as Amaterasu, it takes a bit of time to get the job done.
@cmneirs96 There are some things that make people believe Amaterasu is male, her reactions to Rao being one of them. Capcom's official statement on it is that all the Gods in this game are genderless and just associate themselves with one gender or the other.
Chugga: "Some of the stuff in the Sunken Ship are what you would find in a horror game" Me: Get out of full screen before a jumpscare makes my head blow up
@@ssj4kalasolargoddess566 it still gets me every single time, even now 6 years later. I actually forgot it happened the second time around so it startled me just as bad as my first time seeing it 😅
Anybody else what goes through the developers' minds when they have to animate things like that Rao cutscene? Maybe they pay women to do those types of cutscenes just for productivity... Also, to stop any controversy, Ammy is taken as a female in the Japanese version of this game, but *supposed* bisexual in the English release. However, this game does still show signs of her female origin. Most obviously when you encounter a brush god, they say: "Ah, Amaterasu, Origin and *Mother* to us all...". Secondly, when you first encounter the blind spirit of Princess Fuse's late husband, he will say that through his enlightened "eyes", he sees Amaterau's presence of that to a beatiful young woman. Lastly, in Okamiden Ammy has a son, but want seals the deal is one of Issun's lines commenting on this "Wait! If your Amaterasu's son, who'd *she*...?!?!" So technically in canon Amaterasu should be female.
Wow! Amaterasu can slash giant hermit crab enemies while carrying a sword, a bug and an exorcism slip wielding priestess on his back, and she never loses either of them. That is one talented dog!
[SPOILERS] In Okamiden before the ship sinks, there was actually a captive shark and two snails in that room in a tank, thus making this mid boss even creepier. For instance during the transition where the ship was sunk by the Water Dragon and then possessed by demons and spirits, the thought that those snails became possessed by demons and ripped the shark in two to be used as replacement shells makes my skin crawl.
Carbon Hydra there are some speculations that could put Amaterasu as a guy instead. don't know how, but there are some reasons pointing to Ammy being a man
i know but there are just some speculations like where Ammy's eyes are sometimes looking when they're talking to Rao. Plus, Mother can also mean Founder or Creator so they might be using that. Watch his let's play of Okamiden and it becomes obvious the creators made Ammy a she
I'm surprised Issun didnt climb into Rao's "miracle of nature between two peaks" And Amaterasu's facial expression when seeing Rao reminded me of Brian after Jesus made Louis's breats grow
at 5:28 in the background you can see a mountain with the same kind of prayer strips you see on the trees you have to bloom in kamiki, I recognized this as Izanagi no Mikoto and Izanami no Mikoto's island where they created things which I cannot remember, if you take the time to lily pad over there you will get rewarded with a wooden bear, steel soul sake, and the snake statue from the chinese zodiac, I found this by chance when going on the ship for the stray bead I missed on top of the ship, I fund it hilarious when I found the three things there
Jiro and Saburo (the Hermit Crabs) do actually show up at North Ryoshima Coast like other foes, especially on one of the islands. Just thought you'd like to know.
The crab story is simular to a story from my country. A couple's parent disliked each other so the couple killed themselves to be together. 2 trees grew from their graves and their branches were possitioned in such a way that it looked like they were hugging.
i havee my suspicions about that too. it is further supported by how much love and affection is shown for amatarasu by sakuya every time you talk to her, and especially when its a plot point
Ah, the Goryeo, I know this ship. It was sunken by the Water Dragon on the day of the Kamiki Festival. Benkei was traveling on this ship when an old man told him to seek the living sword. A mermaid took one very different passenger to and from a shrine and from there they got a peculiar hammer that could change the size of the user at will. However when It came time for that passenger to abandon ship, the passenger had to leave the hammer behind. These were the final moments of that ship.
they are clearly a form of mimic. an enemy type (monster) seen in many games that poses as a treasure chest (that i believe also exists in some mythologies) in order to snare unsuspecting treasure seekers. not to sound snotty or anything. it is one of my favorite concepts for an enemy (in any game) and i recognized what it was right off the bat the first time i encountered one
Some things I discovered as I played this dungeon: -Those arms that pop out of the treasure chests only appear in the bright gold treasure chests. The ones that appear grayer in comparison are totally safe. -You can Power Slash the bamboo spears to disarm them.
Jiro and Saburo's Floral FInisher comes quite a bit later, but you can perform it on them later, any time you want, after you get an upgrade to that particular power, or a certain weapon with that power.
When you draw the moon over the ship the symbol that forms under it is the symbol of the Umbra witches in Bayoneta. Umbra is the shadow generated during an eclipse.
@mikey617315 Actually no. They've already revealed that the events in Okami Den take place 9 months after the events of Okami. So it is pretty much impossible for it to be a prequel.
I love haunted levels in games. Luigi's Mansion, the Arbiter's Grounds (Twilight Princess), several locations in Majora's Mask, and the pirate ship from Skyward Sword are a few examples. Amaterasu, you are not alone in appreciating the "jiggle physics" at work here; BUSTY BABE here could make even the straightest of women bend like reeds in the wind.
i will explain their their origin though: These two crabs were once a couple whose parents opposed their marriage, so they jumped into the ocean together to die, but instead became hermit crabs and lived forever. ...And we're killing them anyway. thats the chuggaaconroy we all know and love.
I fully intend to leave a comment every time I actually have to use your guide for something in this game. I can't wait to watch what you do now that crono trigger is done. I couldn't figure out the moon turret stuff. I know you probably don't see these but good luck Chugga and stay in good health.
I cant help but notice that the same symbol used to represent the shekia from the zelda games is on Rao's prayer slips. I wonder if it is a reference or that symbol hes some meaning I'm not aware of.
The eye symbol on the prayer reminds me the Sheikah symbol (zelda) and the monster chests remind me of mimics (the chest itself is a enemy ) from dark cloud.
@twilighter1228 BLACK PAPER MOON Shinjite kureta nara WHEN YOU'RE LOST HERE I AM... FOREVER WITH YOUR SOUL thanks for the opportunity to post song lyrics!!

HEY CHUGGACONROY, THE HERMIT CRABS SABURO AND ICHIRO ARE ACTUALLY ENCOUNTERED FAR MORE THAN JUST THREE TIMES IF YOU KNOW WHERE TO LOOK. YOU CAN ALSO FIND THEM IN THE NEXT AREA AFTER THE CITY!
havnet played that game. but form your description its still an enemy posing as a treasure chest. they are also in golden sun, i think super mario rpg, and lots of other games
I know I'm not Chugga, but you could go to the Tsuta Ruins and go to the room with many statues. Go out of the room, and then go back. Or, you can keep on battling. And don't lose much health or don't spend so much, or you could sell some of your stuff.
is it sad that I got this game for PS2 in 2006, I was about 12 and got to the sunken ship and got so scared I never got around ot playing this game after this point and when I finally got over it I couldn't find the game then I found it 1 1/2 years ago but already watched this lp twice and I'm getting to this game today
Those boxes... isn't that the Marble Hornet's symbol on them? Anyway, there's an interesting thing in the bone room when you fight one of the two battles in there. If you can get the celestial brush to look through the stack of bones you'll see a spine just wiggling in the center.
The seven strike is pretty much my favorite glaive. Also, the "One mooore thing!", is that from Jackie Chan adventures? I seem to remember the uncle saying that all the time.
List of things that made me laugh. 1. Amaterasu's reaction to Rao, DESPITE BOTH OF THEM BEING FEMALE. 2. Spider Queen Sprit's Camera Close-up. 3. "Ineffective" Bamboo Traps, eh, Chuggaa?
@JodyJody90 But I'm talking about Okami, just go to the official FB page and they even have a note cause a lot of people is confused about the genre of the Wolfs. PD: I know, Amaterasu Ō-Mikami, it's actually a goddess and is the sister o Tsukiyomi

I love that show!
"You are a bad influence on Jane!"
Fire types are super effective against bug types. ;)
all of ash's pokemon are water types and they are totally weak to fire types-said a fucking gym leader
I can't tell if Amaterasu's face is like "WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?" or "Dem jiggles" at 7:14 when rao comes in
I lean more towards the "Dem jiggles" option for some reason.
When the spider queen got up in my face, I was so scared I ran around aimlessly and hit all of those spikes that come out of the ground! xD
I never found the Ghost Ship scary, not now, and not when I played it myself some years ago :/
When you were showing the Celestial envoy scroll, the background drawing looked A LOT like Chibiterasu.
Their shells are two halfs of a dead shark
[SPOILERS] In Okamiden before the ship sinks, there was actually a captive shark and two snails in that room in a tank, thus making this mid boss even creepier. Carbon Hydra there are some speculations that could put Amaterasu as a guy instead. don't know how, but there are some reasons pointing to Ammy being a man
David Potts However, each of the other gods in the game addresses her as "mother," so in this case the evidence seems to point to female.

i havee my suspicions about that too. it is further supported by how much love and affection is shown for amatarasu by sakuya every time you talk to her, and especially when its a plot point

chugga is bad for your health, carsickness and whoosieness guaranteed, but you know you can't get away from him, he's too strong.
Makes me think of Phantom Hourglass because of how much you are in a ship in that game.
I'm kind of surprised he managed to draw the first circle in this video without failing.
That little doll whose head popped off and reattached is a Zashiki Warashi.

Chugga, you could have shown, how to disable the Spider Quenn's/Bandit Spider's balls, since those are the alternate ways to stun them.
i never actually been able to use the next episode annotation.
The spider queen's ghost actually made me scream the first time I saw her. I thought she was actually gonna do something.

I've seen WAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY scarier on Amnesia, now that game is freaky
When the Spider Queen popped up that scared the shit outta me x.o;
@Nicktoon100 Not me. I've played the game a few times and there is really only 2 things that creep me out, but they are later on in the game.
if fire did that much, I wonder how much damage would the upgrade to that does?
I went back into that hole where he fought the Bandit Spider and I got screwed. -_- the things I do to get all the stray beads... *sigh*
I love that even Ammy is mesmerized by Rao's "melons". xD
