I don't think the music is bad, I mean of course any music is subjective, but the composition has always stood out to me, really my only gripe is that the loop is too short and act 2's rendition feels lazy. But other than that it has the coolest bass patch in all of the genesis sonic games
You can't brute force the act 1 boss and expect not to get hit. Phase 1 You stay at the far side and time your hits when he tightens the circle or orbs, bounce back to the fast side and dodge a spike. Phase 2 you jump on the platform when it's moving slowly and stay on it. Hit him when you're underneath him moving slowly.

A few questions, what do you think about titanic monarch and mania's metallic madness since you said the classic games ended off in a bad note, also do you think mania made the death egg mini boss better?
All bosses in the classic Sonic games suck because as long as you have even one ring, you're invisible. I have an idea that during a boss fight, if you have one ring and you take damage, the ring will bounce off the sonic faster and faster each time, and at some point it will be impossible to take the ring.
If you keep a single ring, you're playing the equivalent of a mellow mode, the challenge is keeping them rings no matter what so it's actually pretty difficult
Skill issue. You can not slam yourself into the bosses and expect no-damage. There is (at least)a 14 year-old video on TH-cam proving Death Egg Zone Act 1 boss possible without taking damage. Learn the patterns and get güd.

I haven't played S3K, so I can only fairly digest the visuals and music of Death Egg. I actually hate ACT 2's background do to how it looks so brown Earth/Mobius/Plant Freedom looks, but ACT 1's background looks pretty good in my eyes. I like the music, the slight death metal aspects of the drums works for the zone, the everything else about it feels very "final challenge"-y.
i have never heard the term "passive check" before but i feel like the ring gimmick from this stage is well designed if that's how you're choosing to view it (bear with me) if you view the other level gimmicks in a similar way it just makes them feel kind of lame since you're intended to interact with them to some degree, in comparison the section at 4:48 definitively says "yeah don't go for this it's way less fast and beneficial" albeit having an intentionally boring mechanic doesn't make it any less boring, but in this context it's a good way to show the player that they shouldn't always be taking the easier route if they want rewards and stuff

i despise this level so much, there are some parts that are absoloutly unfair and you can cheese the level with the lightning shield, super sonic or hyper sonic, AND ACT 2 IS SO MUCH WORSE, the gimmick SOUNDS cool but portrayed HORRIBLY and the "final" boss (the one before the doomsday zone) IS SO EASY, I GOT IT FIRST TRY FINAL BOSSES ARENT MEANT TO BE LIKE THAT

It's not that I like it like a good zone, I just think it's better than Scrap Brain death egg, and the first act of it is my favorite because it's going to be done very quickly, but the second one is horrible only Sonic Small makes it less bad
Eeehh. Theirs are a lot i dont psrticularly agree with when it comes to this video Music: i feel like this critique is heavily opinion based. While death egg isnt my favorite ost in sonic 3 and knuckles it does serve its purpose as feeling life, mechanical, and menacing which fits the vibe of the stage pretty well Background: this is something i completely disagree with. The sonic 3 death egg act 1 looks great with how it gives a very eerie/sinister sci-fi vibe with the usage of dark colors. And the lighting of the death egg gives it soo much depth as to how big it is with the tid bits of yellow acting like rooms or window compartment really showing how grand the death eggs interior is and adding on that with the giant pillar making it look like some giant center of controll or the heart of the death, and your saying that its only on par with sonic 2 death egg background which is arguably the worst looking background in sonic 2 as its simply a flat brown wall that transitions to a background of a glass window showing the earth below which has less detail compared to the sonic 3 act 2 death egg background Boss: i feel like your approach to these bosses are all wrong. Its very obvious for red eye that their are sphere protecting it so immediately rush to attack os guaranteed going to get you damaged. And while difficult its very much possible to defeat red eye without taking damage you could search it up yourself heck ive done it. It takes patience and carefulness, cus brute forcing your way is only going to get hurt. As for final boss i dont really get your critique either... its the final boss out of all the bosses i think its difficulty is fair. It has a really easy phase one and a phase thatd a lot more harder but can be easily done with rings. And if you dont have rings than it isnt too bad of a thing. Sonic 1 and 2 make you fight the final boss with zero rings. And in sonic 3&k all you have to do is open the robots mouth dodge the fire and laser beam and hit the laser cannon. Overall my point is, its a final boss you shouldnt expect them to be cake walks and they arent that difficult if you knoe what your supposed to be doing
Now I'm not one to self-credit myself, but if anyone deserves the right to complain about this game specifically, it'd be me. The amount of times I've completed this game with Hyper Sonic alone is insane, let alone normally, and also because I'm not that old. This has all happened in the 3 years I've known of the game's existence. It's not even about the difficulty for the final fight, it's about the fact that you never get a chance to fight it with rings. And the reason it's different from Sonic 2 and Sonic 1 is for those, it's concrete. For the final fight, if you get to do the second boss without losing all your rings, then you get to do the final boss WITH rings. Pick a side! And for the music, OK, and? I don't get your point. Of course it's opinion-based, that's the point of a review.
Death Egg Zone has never been one of my favorite zones, but I don't think it's bad and I don't understand how you don't like aspects like the music and level design, they're very good in my opinion, one thing that I think is bad and that was the only thing you said was good is the visuals, even though the backgrounds are beautiful, they don't even move, the whole visual has a very repetitive and boring appearance.

I can't tell if this is rage bait, I really can't. Pretty much every opinion you make is other purely subjective and mostly agreed upon in the fandom as the opposite of yours or "This [thing in the zone] sucks because It's too hard for me or I don't understand it". Some things I really just want to point out real quick are is that the bosses in this game after you have done them a few times you can do them fast without any issues, not saying damageless but it's definitely possible. The weird yellow transporter things that "only serve to look cool" are meant to waste you're time while in super/hyper form (and look cool) but this is so that you are encouraged to find better paths, it's just another obstacle like the spiked platform things that raise to the electricity things in flying battery or the spinny things that lift upwards on the screw looking thing in launch base. Most things in the video can be solved by getting good.

Stand to the far left/right sides of the screen. 2. Wait till the orbs drop and they're away from you. 3. Full jump into the eye with good insta-shield timing, then use the momentum from the hit to land back on the left/right side of the screen. 4. Jump over the spikes from the hit if needed. 5. Repeat 1-4 until the boss protects itself with the orbs, or until it's dead. Phase 2: 1. Hit the eye once by using/manipulating the platforms. 2. Stay away from it until it stops attacking. 3. Repeat 1-2 until dead. You can do it much faster than they did by taking risks, but it's doable.

I use to easily beat that mini boss eye ball without getting hit. You can stand on the platforms rotating super fast, and the laser won't hurt you.

i despise this level so much, there are some parts that are absoloutly unfair and you can cheese the level with the lightning shield, super sonic or hyper sonic, AND ACT 2 IS SO MUCH WORSE, the gimmick SOUNDS cool but portrayed HORRIBLY and the "final" boss (the one before the doomsday zone) IS SO EASY, I GOT IT FIRST TRY FINAL BOSSES ARENT MEANT TO BE LIKE THAT

Music: i feel like this critique is heavily opinion based. While death egg isnt my favorite ost in sonic 3 and knuckles it does serve its purpose as feeling life, mechanical, and menacing which fits the vibe of the stage pretty well
Background: this is something i completely disagree with. The sonic 3 death egg act 1 looks great with how it gives a very eerie/sinister sci-fi vibe with the usage of dark colors. And the lighting of the death egg gives it soo much depth as to how big it is with the tid bits of yellow acting like rooms or window compartment really showing how grand the death eggs interior is and adding on that with the giant pillar making it look like some giant center of controll or the heart of the death, and your saying that its only on par with sonic 2 death egg background which is arguably the worst looking background in sonic 2 as its simply a flat brown wall that transitions to a background of a glass window showing the earth below which has less detail compared to the sonic 3 act 2 death egg background
Boss: i feel like your approach to these bosses are all wrong. Its very obvious for red eye that their are sphere protecting it so immediately rush to attack os guaranteed going to get you damaged. And while difficult its very much possible to defeat red eye without taking damage you could search it up yourself heck ive done it. It takes patience and carefulness, cus brute forcing your way is only going to get hurt. As for final boss i dont really get your critique either... its the final boss out of all the bosses i think its difficulty is fair. It has a really easy phase one and a phase thatd a lot more harder but can be easily done with rings. And if you dont have rings than it isnt too bad of a thing. Sonic 1 and 2 make you fight the final boss with zero rings. And in sonic 3&k all you have to do is open the robots mouth dodge the fire and laser beam and hit the laser cannon. Overall my point is, its a final boss you shouldnt expect them to be cake walks and they arent that difficult if you knoe what your supposed to be doing
Now I'm not one to self-credit myself, but if anyone deserves the right to complain about this game specifically, it'd be me. The amount of times I've completed this game with Hyper Sonic alone is insane, let alone normally, and also because I'm not that old. This has all happened in the 3 years I've known of the game's existence. It's not even about the difficulty for the final fight, it's about the fact that you never get a chance to fight it with rings. And the reason it's different from Sonic 2 and Sonic 1 is for those, it's concrete. For the final fight, if you get to do the second boss without losing all your rings, then you get to do the final boss WITH rings. Pick a side!
And for the music, OK, and? I don't get your point. Of course it's opinion-based, that's the point of a review.
I feel like most people approach this game's bosses incorrectly, just damage boosting them ftw, never bothering to learn their patterns

Death Egg Zone has never been one of my favorite zones, but I don't think it's bad and I don't understand how you don't like aspects like the music and level design, they're very good in my opinion, one thing that I think is bad and that was the only thing you said was good is the visuals, even though the backgrounds are beautiful, they don't even move, the whole visual has a very repetitive and boring appearance.

I can't tell if this is rage bait, I really can't. Pretty much every opinion you make is other purely subjective and mostly agreed upon in the fandom as the opposite of yours or "This [thing in the zone] sucks because It's too hard for me or I don't understand it". Some things I really just want to point out real quick are is that the bosses in this game after you have done them a few times you can do them fast without any issues, not saying damageless but it's definitely possible. The weird yellow transporter things that "only serve to look cool" are meant to waste you're time while in super/hyper form (and look cool) but this is so that you are encouraged to find better paths, it's just another obstacle like the spiked platform things that raise to the electricity things in flying battery or the spinny things that lift upwards on the screw looking thing in launch base. Most things in the video can be solved by getting good.

@@KrheanosIsland I don't mean to be a troll or anything but all of what you describe of being bad is more or less just you not understanding what the intended purpose of the [thing in the zone] and the way to get around it or use it to how it's intended, an example of this is (taken from another comment) is you brute forcing the red eye boss expecting that to work, it's like the act 2 flying battery boss from sonic mania, trying to brute force the boss usually ends with you hitting some spikes or the wall because you aren't supposed to brute force it like you might be used to with some other bosses.

Found it in 30 seconds of searching TH-cam. I'll even explain what they did.
Phase 1:
1. Stand to the far left/right sides of the screen.
2. Wait till the orbs drop and they're away from you.
3. Full jump into the eye with good insta-shield timing, then use the momentum from the hit to land back on the left/right side of the screen.
4. Jump over the spikes from the hit if needed.
5. Repeat 1-4 until the boss protects itself with the orbs, or until it's dead.
Phase 2:
1. Hit the eye once by using/manipulating the platforms.
2. Stay away from it until it stops attacking.
3. Repeat 1-2 until dead.
You can do it much faster than they did by taking risks, but it's doable.
