Since these old Benz door lock systems are controlled by vacuum (not electric), most of the problems can be traced to air leaks - 80 percent of the time, those leaks are in the actuators themselves. An inexpensive smoke machine is sometimes the fastest way to find the leaks without removing all the door panels, especially in pre-1980 models.
