I like dokkan but he has a point that if the game is so unbalanced that every character needs to have guard and DR and dodge then they need to rethink the way fights are designed
But this can really only be applied to the hardest fights. Characters are graded based in both hardest content of the game and on their peers and what they are. For example you wouldn’t expect a recent FTP LR unit to be better than recent anniversary unit.
But then you also have to look at for good units because like truth says all the time missions exist. A lot of older characters and FTP units can clear 80% of the game. Modes like story and growth or EZA. It’s just that when it comes to missions in the top fights so that you can get the rewards you need to have characters that have competency to help clear the missions.
While I do agree different designed difficult fights are great for the game and allows other characters to shine what I would highlight is the fact that this mainly applies to the tougher content of the game, take 8th anni ssj3 goku and ssj2 vegeta. They are in a better spot than their GT counterpart in 9th anni content because they are geared towards longer content. If you take them back to 8th anni content and DONT TRY TO PULL BEAST ACTIVE SHENANIGANS you will see that they still can struggle with that content
@dashafts While I do agree that older characters can clear 80% of the game that only applies for right now. Eventually, as dokkan continues to evolve - and hopefully doesn't shut down - only quest mode and ezas and such will be updated, thus making the overall content require red zone level characters. Also on a side note calling quest modes and story stages "content" is a long stretch. Most people want to use their characters in which they can be challenged. But I do recognize that dokkan is also somewhat collected focused but that's more of a minority than a majority of the game play loop.
Not really dokkan just has to give characters good stats and that's all int majunior is the perfect example of this back in the day dr and guard characters used to she way less defense then just raw stats units

I think something that could make link leveling better, is making difficulty content give link levels, Ezas, World tournament, Battlefield.
So more people dont have to go out of their way to grind link levels in quest mode if they dont really want to, and get them naturally playing the main content of the game, which would incentivize people into playing difficulty content regularly with more playtime for dokkan which they care.
Not only that, INCREASE the chances of getting a link level up (1% ---> 1.5%). this would have people WT for HOURS.

We are in a state where if you want a character to be good, you need at bare minimum 2 of these 3 things in their kit: Guard, Damage Reduction, and High Def Stats. You can omit the guard if your Def or DR values are really high, but look at Beast Gohan, he has all 3 of those things and is #1 in the game for that reason, outside of his ridiculous damage as well. A unit can have super massively high damage, but if they don't kill the enemy and get 1 tapped, it doesn't matter.
Edit: Dodge is good as well but that too can fail
I know it's random but that Broly in the thumbnail was when and why I first started Dokkan.
Especially for his TUR form. I wasn't even paying attention to the fusions and what they were capable of lol.

I had Gogeta and Super Vegito when they first arrived on Global and though the leaderskill for Vegito was better, Gogeta didn't get powercrept with his passive and damage for awhile.

With that link idea, it could be like pokemon where there is a few moves that you could learn and then switch out and forget the other move but just do it with links and you get them after difficult battles and or many runs of an event
Imagine with chooseable links, links had more unique things about them like DR, dodge, crit, etc. And you can build your team to be more defense focused or attack focused or dodge focused based on links that you choose for Hella synergy
Thought about a new mechanic for 10th anniversary: element switching through active skill, transformation or standby; just like in dragon ball legends. That would add more versatility with team building and allow more strategy when fighting bosses, especially new ones who could deal extra damage to a specific type (like in eza stages)

i think what they would do, if they implemented more links for units, would be give a general pool of "Super Links" and a general pool of "Extreme Links". Generic stuff like brutal beatdown, fear and faith, nightmare would probably be added but I couldn't imagine they'll actually add like BBB. it'd probably still be reserved for the "Premium" units they want to shine most

I think the push for units to be different is a relic of older Dokkan.
You would have your leader, which typically was the ace of the team. You would have a support, and a tank. Then, fill in multiples of each. Now, teams are built where every unit on the team has all of the same functions. So, no character really feels different from each other than animations.

The thing with STR Gogeta was that dokkan events could not be finished without using stones to retry or items until he dropped so he likely still is the strongest character on release, Gogeta was that guy back then
For standby skip, they should let the initial animations play then for additional you can skip the additionals

Regarding point 3, they should just do occasional batches (like during big celebrations) of 5 or 10 no item run missions for sbr and esbr. Give out like 5 stones per mission.
I’m a veteran player so I basically only do no item runs on the new stages (which makes them pretty fun) but I know a lot of people just spam items, beat the stage and forget about it

They probably got rid of chain battle due to the low amount of play time but kept World Tournament cause of the opposite. The whis event will by far have more playtime than chain battle so I guess that solved that problem for them.
I disagree. People will find out the stamina spent for the quality of equips is not good enough. This just results into a loss of playtime imo

9:00 Chain Battle having a community around it to try and "help" people was not the problem. That's great and nice. The problem was the inconsistency and the *need* to have people figure out a bunch of stupid crap that should've been simple. And even then, I remember literally getting the God rotation of friend units, I actually had the perfect attacker, perfect linking partners, I clicked the friend units in like less than 1 second. And what was my score??? Less than my best, when my best didn't even come close to that level of friend rotation. I'm not saying they should've removed Chain Battle. I think that is a very stupid idea. I'm just saying it could've used some tweaking to be more...fair? World Tournament, God awful as it is, is fair and consistent. Are you ever going to get top 1 globaly? No lmfao not unless you want to take 3 days off work and stay up for over 72 hours straight, and even then probably not. Can you hit top 1 locally? Maybe, depends on how sweaty your local bracket is. But the point is, you know what's going on every single time you go in to play that gamemode after the first time. Bring in stunner items, bring in AoE units, bring in a lot of LRs to help boost everyone's points as a community, and we're set. That's it. It's SO simple. Chain battle you have to read like 5 spreadsheets, grind up the SSRs of units and rainbow them, and even THEN you'll probably do shit. I do apologize again for those who enjoyed the mode, because again Dokkan just removing it straight up was a dumb idea. But I am not that upset that it's gone personally.
I think that the selectable link idea would be neat and balanced if it was for an 8th link slot and then they could also give 6 link units giving 2 selectable links. Ofc some libks wouldn't be selectable lime Broly can't have all in the family and Frieza can't get Saiyan roar, but this update would allow Broly units to get 3B

12:43 the problem w releasing units that are weird and not just stable damage dealers or tanks is that the peak for the weird units is the same as the peak of the "stable units". it needs to be odd turns 750% atk and 250% def and guard and even turns 250% atk 500% def with dodge and 70% damage reduction and maybe even a +200% def in slot 3 to account for turns of transfer, which is something they shouldve accounted for! not literally what every other unit peaks at anyways. these percentages i mean as total ones that u add up that u may hypothetically have. sure its fine to restrict it and have caveats that balance these stats but if ur gonna have weird passives they need to be actually op at times. and op doesnt mean doing 1 bar of hp rather than 1/5 of it.
My problem with chain battle and pettan battle is they feel like more of a chore than something fun to do. When I log into dokkan I dont want to feel like I have to do something for rewards they can just make easier to access theough a daily event. I do wish we had better ways to get equips but god I want it to be more fun than chain battle

Imagine if one day they release a tur and his passive is: ki+3 and atk&def+333% at the start of the turn, atk&def +177% when performing a superattack. Atk&def+444% for 7 turns from start of turn, or as the 1st attacker in the turn. starting from turn 8. All allies ki+3 and atk&def+59%, plus an additonal ki+3 and atk&def+59% for 3 turns when collecting 3 orbs. High chance of atk&def+59% for each attack received (up to 177%), plus high chance of atk&def+59 for each attack performed (up to 177%).

Was there for both the beginning of Dokkan and Blazing 😢. Still got the apps, they were both great at their peaks but after Veigto Blue and Rose came out blazing were never better than man
