Lovely looking bike! Those bars remind me a little of the Royal Enfield Continental 650. I’m looking for a Thunderbird at the moment. Once I’ve sold my Bandit 650 to make some room in my garage, I’ll get on a couple to test them! Cheers from France!
Hello from America! Just bought one of these, nearly the exact same, except the color has a slightly different pattern (and it looks like yours has some added decorum). Also, mine has a panel over the gauges, but no windshield. I’m not sure if mine was modified, but it didn’t have the ape-hanger type handlebars when I got it, it has the same as yours? Anyway, love the bike so far, cannot wait to ride it more as soon as it’s nice again
Thanks for that, a good rundown on the TBird 900. I have a virtually identical '96 with most of the mods you mentioned. I have added Gold Valves in the front forks plus stiffer progressive springs which has improved things markedly. Also a four piston calliper from a CBR1000 and bigger master cylinder have dramatically improved front brake power and feel. Lastly, I hated the cruiser style heavy looking 16" rear rim and high profile tyre of the original so I had the rear hub laced up to a 17" rim which has improved tyre options and looks just right. With no engine mods I am still able to give a lot of modern retro bikes a good scare on a winding country road.
Thanks Shivty, I followed Peter H on this bike many times. Once from Shep to Bendigo at night, he was a keen night rider. Last time I rode with him was from Hotham to Semour turn off with a stop for lunch at Bright. He loved that bike. Just my opinion, I reckon it looked better as a stock bike. Yeah, those plates are something to hang on the wall!!! Cheers. Peter H
Easy to fix ,the carb model is easy to work on I’ve had mine from new in 2003, I’ve done 80000 miles on it and it still going strong Obviously things break but you get over them.

That is a beautiful bike; prefer standard (stock) myself but still lovely. Can't really understand why Triumph discontinued it ! Thanks for video-Tom
Hi Steve. What a fantastic machine. Very nice run down on Thunder. Regards John
Thanks John, I’m very lucky to have this bike. Thanks for watching 👌

Yeah Peter, good memories. I rode alongside Pete H in Tazzie. He really did love this bike and he always wanted to do these mods.
@@olboymotoaustralia4294 That explains it!!!
Great old girls . My good friend has one in the uk ..runs really rough tho ..carb problems... struggling to get a decent mechanic to deal with it now
