Great video. It would be a pleasure to welcome you to Minnesota where we may well catch some nice pike (and others!) over a couple of days. I get to N. Wales occasionally...maybe we can do a "home and home" pair of trips. You really hung in there under difficult conditions. Keep up the good work!
Great video Stev, sad about the dying pike reminds me of the one in the canal that you had to put out of its misery some time back.Keep up the good work....
😂😂 when on a family holiday we have an agreement that when it’s raining I can go fishing. So, you’ll only ever see the bad weather. I must be fair, other than two rainy days out of 14 the rest were sunny 😎 You’d love the sight fishing and hits Robbie, it’s awesome
Some nice fish in this one, I hope you enjoyed your holiday. I kind of want to do this, without the getting stuck on wall bit, Pike fishing in wales. I hope to see you out fishing local in next few weeks, testing the waters, before the real Pike fishing starts in the winter 👍👍👍
Hi Steve,Ain't nature a strange thing that something so powerfull aggresive and fierce looking can be so fragile. It always puzzle's me why Pike are always the first to suffer when a fishery has any sort of problem. Thanks for showing that suffering Pike as it's something that us Pike fishermen never or rarely see. All the best.
How do mate 👍 yes it’s a strange thing isn’t it. That said you often see in these nature programs where kings of the jungle or animals top of their chain do have great downfalls at times.
Hi, it’s more to do with temperatures than cloudy rainy day though those conditions are better than blinding sun. Ideally you wouldn’t fish above 19/20 degrees unless it’s well oxygenated. Your probably better off asking on Facebook groups really than here.
@@BlackCountryPiker mate can’t belive how fast you replied fair play I was just eager that’s all to get on the lure I think October will be the one I’ll get the river sever up Malverly near Shrewsbury had 4lb perch and 18lb pike off spinner me and me grandad😂😂😂 worth a check out do you rate patsall much mate
Sat chilling with a vodka and old Clint Eastwood movie so saw the pop up 👍😂 Winter weight definitely helps produce some belters and you’ve certainly had some 😮 I’ll add that to my to do list, thank you 👍
@@rubberbandbraker8096 oh and yes, Patshull park is a great fishery on its day. It has the potential for another huge fish. Like any good fishery though, it has good and bad days
It’s crazy how different the water table can be there. Such a beautiful venue and rammed full of wildlife. This visit I didn’t really see much fish at all
@@BlackCountryPiker yeah, I think it’s out of sorts at the moment with the algae and low water. I’ll definitely be wetting a line come the autumn. The markings on the pike there are beautiful.
Hello buddy, how ya doin? Do you know what's happened to flies4preds? Ordered some flies off them but not received them and I can't get in touch with them via email or Facebook.
Happy memories of family piking trips to that place in the 80’s. Scattered Dad’s ashes off the green bridge. Not the same as it was tho’ now unfortunately.
Oh blimey Ian, so it definitely has a deep place in your hearts and minds. I believe the algae problem started a few years back snd has been a big issue ever since. I wish I could have fished this place in its prime 👍
Maybe, however It was certainly blind in both eyes and it’s movement was not that if a normal fish. Three fish I’ve netted with those colours previously have all been on the way out. Not often you’ll find a pale pike, especially in crystal clear water. In my experience the clearer the water the darker the colours
Thanks Nathan, I never really organise a meet up because I’d feel bad saying yes to some and no to others. If ever you see me out your more than welcome to join me 👍

What rod and line are you using big chap? You like those jig flies and seem to do very well on them!👍
Cheers matey, the rod is an Abu Garcia Venerate 9ft 45g and the line is 55lb power pro. Those Jigfliesare deadly, very versatile too
Worked hard for those fish and you got rewarded for it
Absolutely mate 👍
Great video mate were about in Wales is this place

I think the pike I caught had been bitten by one of the otters there on its tail
@@BlackCountryPiker yeah , definitely otter damage. I’ve caught one there with no tail at all. Sad to see
