The Pelikans all day everyday. The Pelicans are certainly a better build quality with brass vs plastic filling systems and better writing experience unless you prefer noticeably more feedback and stiffer less springy nibs from the Montblanc s, Them there is the price which obviously is in favor of the Pelikans.

I am one of those that writes with a (probably too) heavy hand and due to also writing quite fast appreciates the feedback.
That said, owning both a 149 and M1000 (both medium nibs), I tend to agree that the Pelican is probably a higher quality product generally speaking; even if I prefer to write with the 149.
After watching this, I might have to try an M800 with a broad nib.

This is by far the best review of these pens. I appreciate the descriptions of the writing experience with each nib

Pelikan any series either classic or souveran you will never get disappointment. I have classic 200,205 and souveran 600 and never had any issue with any of them. On the other hand my other meisterstuck 149 is just lying on the desk. I will always prefer pelikan for it's pure performance

Enjoyed your review . I collect MB and Pelikan. I have a 149 in B, 146 in M, M800 in B and M1000 in B. I have matched my MB pens with MB ink and Pelikan pens with Pelikan ink. I feel the respective inks really perform with the respective nibs . I love both brands and really don’t gravitate to a particular brand .

Just holding the MB 149 is an amazing experience. The mirror finish of the resin, the size, nib, the legacy and attention to detail set it apart from so many others even before the pen hits the paper. There’s a reason why every fountain pen is compared to it.

I bought an m805 but when I looked at the tip under a loop I found that the tip of the nib was slit slightly off center which caused problems when it writes. I returned it to the seller for a replacement, but the second one also had the same problem. I'm not sure if they actually sent me the same faulty pen again or if it's a quality issue that Pelikan is having with its new pens. I never owned a Montblanc and don't have the desire to buy one. I still want to reorder a Pelikan but from a different seller. I hope this time it works, otherwise I'll have to give up on Pelikan.

I used to think the differences between the Pelikan (I have an M800 extra fine) and the Meisterstuck were entirely subjective - I prefer the bouncy nib and buying extra fine minimizes the wetness - but frankly if one wants a stiff pen that is also wet one can buy a nice big steel nib.....perhaps some emperors truly have no clothing....."precious resin" is plastic! The Pelikan 1000 and 800 unless you prefer toothless/ foodback. The Pelikan build quality, manufacturing materials (brass vs plastic), springy nib, balance, weight, and price are all better than Montblanc.

I find the Montblanc nibs to be more stiff, but mine has not had appreciably more feedback than my Pelikans, I suppose that it is luck of the draw. I loved the fine nib on my vintage Montblanc 146 and would like to replace the one I sold. My Montblanc 149 is a new pen and it is I think fairly broad for a medium nib. I love the size of my Pelikan m800's and you never quite know what tipping size to expect when you purchase a Pelikan. The nib unit on my new MB 149 was removable without a tool, I think this might be the case for new Montblancs.

Montblac was my school preference Fountain pen, not really a status symbol, but it's looks gorgeous even a school boy's pocket hanging that awesome Snowcap. It was a treasure item, greatest possession of all looking at the Huge two tone Intense Decorative Nib, silver nib with a Gold artistic mastery. Maybe not suitable for school but I bought it with my money to enjoy extreme writing experice even taking notes and writing journals. Meiterstuck 149 is a mystry fountain pen the moment one opens the cap it will grips you and take to the world of writing and kept on filling fountain ink oozing out from the Montblanc nib of greatest everlasting writing encoded with joyful experiences.

Thanks for the comparison and such an honest review which made me subscribe to your channel ❤👍 I totally agree with you about the quality of Montblanc not matching the ripoff price they charge😢
Could you please review Montblanc Egyptomania Doue Ballpoint 🙏

Fully agter. I collector Montblanc but quality drop and prices explode. The last 10-13 years i only purchase MB as New or real second hand. Get two next week. And a New Pelikan M805 blue😀😀

The video was good ... until you came back and again to your snobbish MB topic ... for someone who presents pens like a Namiki Emperor ... saying "oh,oh Montblanc is posh" that is somewhat schizophrenic...

If you show anyone a fountain pen with the white snowflake, they'll know it's a Montblanc because of its status symbol. Show someone a Namiki Emperor, and only some pen aficionados will know what it is. The Emperor does have a status symbol tag for the population at large. My 2 cents.
