- Port Barton is a tropical island backpackers paradise. It's possible to live in this idyllic place for under $10 a day. This video shows why we couldn't leave Port Barton. With it's friendly people, perfect white sand beach, great value food and accommodation. We found it the perfect place to linger for as long as possible.

This lovely couple might be frugal, spending and eating like locals, but they've been eating a lot and supporting local restaurants and bakeries. Tourists like them are a big help to small businesses. I wish you both good health.
Thank you so much 🙏❤️. We love to sample the local food and always try to support the small, local family businesses. Always avoiding big international companies. It's nice to connect with local people this way and to make sure all the money spent goes directly to the people who really need it. 🙏😍
I was telling my son I love the energy your Videos put out! So sorry to hear your having some back pain issues, hope you feel better soon. Please keep these Palawan videos coming as it is one of me and my Wife's dream destination. Stay safe and stay positive!
Thank you so much for your kind words ❤️. My back has improved now thanks 🙏 Palawan is such a good place. We'll show much more so please stay tuned. 🙏❤️🇵🇭
try advil 400mg or less , it is available over the counter meds in major drugstore in the Phil
Lee and Mandy- Lovely video as usual! ❤ Lee I hope that your back is healing well. 🙏🏽 Wherever you two are in this moment I hope that you are having a lovely time! Love from Bermuda.🇧🇲
Thank you so much 🙏 My back has improved a lot since then thanks 🙏 It normally takes about a month to come good again. ☺️.
Wow... Bermuda! Somewhere we've always wanted to visit. Maybe next year we'll be in Central America and the Caribbean 🙏
Wow this is the beach I like!
Isn't it beautiful! 🇵🇭❤️
So sorry about Lee’s back problems. Rest up and take care of yourselves.
Thank you, Carolina. It's definitely not fun when it happens, and Lee's learnt different techniques over the years for dealing with his back. Thankfully it's perfectly fine now here in Pakistan, so he can go hkiing in the spectacular mountains 🙏🤗
“Munggo/
Mung bean” is delicious and healthy. 🤤 😋 wow Bibingka/rice cake.
So delicious 😋❤️🇵🇭
Congratulations 🎉 on 30k and thank you both for your great channel ❤🎉
We are so excited about reaching 30,000 subscribers, and we really appreciate the kindness and support you have shown. Thank you so much! 🙏🤗🥳♥️
I was there in August 2022, my friend owns Barton Bistro, and Port Barton was vey quiet. Only about 2-3 places open along the beach. My friend said it had suffered badly from the pandemic, economy wise, so glad to see it thriving once again.
Port Barton is an amazing place, and we wish your friend's business, and all the other businesses, the very best of luck as tourism increases in that very beautiful place 🇵🇭❤️
Great video, thanks guys. You've sold me on Port Barton, definitely will add to my list when I visit Palawan again. It's definitely similar to what el nido was when I visited. And I'm definitely for 5 days of chilling out.
Sorry to hear about your back Lee, nothing worse, hope the pain subsides quickly.
I hope you go and like it. I love those kind of places that are still quite undeveloped for tourism so it keeps the crowds away. Dirt streets and waking to the sound of cockerels crowing is my kind of place! 😊
I've learned to live with the back pain coming and going and deal with it as it flares up. 👍
those are mung beans not lentils. we call them munggo in tagalog. 😊
Thank you so much for that. I got them slightly confused ☺️😀 I really like munggo 😋
Brilliant video as always!! Hope Lee feels better soon and hope all the other problems sort themselves out too. Hope all is well, take care of yourselves
Thanks so much 🙏 The back finally got better after some r&r. All is well. ☺️
That vechicle nearly 3 minutes in was extraordinary :)
Isn't it so cool 👏🤗
so sorry about the back pain! I hope you've been able to find something that will lessen the pain.
Thank you so much 🙏. It has improved a lot now thanks. 👍
Get well soon
Thank you so much 🙏🤗
Have you visited Siquijor yet, it’s a lovely island that’s very chill and lots to see and do! Will need a motorbike though. Very little traffic and very beautiful beaches and scenery 😊
Thanks for the tip. We heard it's great there. We'll put it on the list for the next visit. Cheers 🙏☺️
As someone who doesn't travel as much as they'd like because of back issues, I feel bad for you, Lee! Hope you are feeling better!
Thank you so much for your concern. It's been an issue on and off for almost 20 years now. I've learned how to manage it and now understand my limitations.
I hope you can manage yours ok and still get to do the things you enjoy. 🙏 Best wishes ❤️
Hi Mandy & Lee,
The Philippines with so many islands isn't short of heavenly spots to relax.
You've already shown some videos with food in the Philippines and to be honest it looks pretty decent (/appetising) for the low price.
Catch you guys later, take care 🙋🏻♂️
Hi Sergio 👋
So many islands. About 7000 apparently so you could visit one every week for the rest of your life. 😊 Yummy food too. 🤤😋😁
Have a great week 👍
So Sorry to Hear That Your Back Has Gone - Lee - Hoping For a Quick Recovery - Beautiful Place and Relaxing in The Water Lee Looks Amazing
Thanks Karen. 🙏 This problem comes and goes and I'm over it now thanks 👍. Certainly is a beautiful place to just rest and relax for sure! 😊❤️🇵🇭
@@FrugalTravellers Im Glad Your Back has eased Up -The Beach and Water Looked Fabulous and Mandy Taking In all The Wonderful Views - Brilliant ❤
Hi there, nice video...enjoy..ingat
Thank you so much 🙏. Glad you enjoyed it ❤. Have a great day 😊
So nice to see both of you enjoying your travels again. (Do check that your back is just a strain, though.) Best wishes-
Thank you so much 🙏 It's great to be back on the road again! My back has improved a lot now thanks ☺️🙏
I do hope you are okay sir, have your back checked properly.....no need to apologize because your experience is so laidback and relaxing....so it wasn't really a bad experience for you....
Thank you so much 🙏 We always try to show the best of everything so I was disappointed to not be able to this time. I've had the checks and am going very well now thanks 🙏👍☺️
Lee I hope your back pain has eased, wow! such interesting food combinations, truly amazing
Thank you, Fatima 🙏 My back is fine now, and we're actually in the mountains in northern Pakistan at the moment. I'm hoping to do some hiking in this incredible place.
@@FrugalTravellers thats lovely to hear! Can’t wait to c the vlogs of Pakistan, sounds spectacular ☺️
Hello lovely couple .Enjoy your day in the Philippines .
Thank you so much 🙏 Such a lovely place ❤️🇵🇭
Mungo, one of my faves. Usually as far as I’ve always known there is meat included though, usually pork. I’m new here, must compliment the lovely lady (both lovely couple), but the lady has a wonderful smile.
I alternate pork rinds or chicharon with sardines in my lentils. It's much healthier.
I really enjoyed this dish. 😋. We discovered so many new dishes here. Lovely home cooked traditional food at good prices. 👍
Thank you so much for your lovely words. ❤️❤️
@chitocucio4573. Ty for your reply & the suggestions. I love sardine but have prepared them in similar manners all my life, 2 ways mostly. I never thought to use them in mungo recipe. I don’t think any of my relatives prepared mungo with fish, which is perhaps strange. We did eat fish a lot, but not in that configuration.
@FrugalTravellers You are welcome😊
@wintersojourn9356 put in plenty of moringa leaves (malunggay) to make your lentil soup thicker, and truly a superfood.
at 6:18 that food sounds like 'how's it going?' in Welsh!
Oh, that's brilliant! 😁
Lovely couple ❤
That's so kind, Lloyd, thank you 🙏🤗♥️
Paradise? 😢 we still in this burdensome life.
🤲 May God grant we all the real Paradise in the hereafter, let's strive for that ❤
I love my life, Khaled, and give thanks for it every single day 🙏🤗
That beach looks like you could stay for ever ( well, maybe a while!) Watch the back Lee, mines a pain when it decides not to play!
Take care and stay safe 🙏❤🇬🇧
Cheers Steve! 🙏. This is probably about the best place you could find to rest and recuperate. It did me the world of good! ☺️👍
Guys do visit Cebu City...try and taste Cebu's lechon and chicharon...the best!👍😋💯
Thank you for the great recommendation. We'll definitely visit Cebu the next time we're in the Philippines 🇵🇭❤️
Few Coconut Trees🌴🌴🌴🏝🏝🏝🏝🏝
Gotta love those coconut trees. 🙏❤️🌴🌴🌴
Oh noooo poor Lee. I didn't realise that happened. x
Yeah, bit of a bummer but I managed to recover 🙏😍
👍😇hope you will be fine...
Thank you so much 🙏 All will be well. ❤️
Hey, by the way, welcome home.
Thank you so much! We had such a wonderful time in the beautiful Philippines 🇵🇭❤
nice❤❤❤
Thank you so much 🙏♥️
Nice vidio lovely couple.
Thank you so much 🙏 We appreciate it 🙏❤️
I love your videos - so inspirational as I wonder how long I could survive without working in a cheaper country
So glad you like them. If you choose the right place that ticks your boxes I'm sure you can spend a very long time living frugally there and really enjoying the simple things in life. 😍
Good morning ☀️
Good morning! We hope you have a wonderful day 🌞
are both of you australians? Hope you enjoy your stay in the Philippines.. your smiles and vibrant personalities are so infectious...
You're so very kind, thank you 🙏🤗 I (Mandy) am from New Zealand, and Lee's from the UK, and we lived in Australia until 2017, when we started travelling full-time.
Looks awesome. I know it’s childish but I love the fact that Mandy and I went to the Phillipines together, before you went with her Lee 😂 The only country I can say that about. But blist I missed out on this place! Boo hoo me, but yay for you! Love you both, can’t wait to see you in a few weeks blist xx
Hey Anfann 😍. So cool that you both went and got to see it before I did. You'll have to do it again sometime and explore the beautiful islands 💖
So many lovely places to see. Great chance to have some blist time! 😍
@@FrugalTravellers yay to blist time! (Thailand here we come!)
i loved the philippines and cant wait to go back but there were a few things i didnt like. having to pay entrance fees to beaches. i like to beach hop during the day & it can get expensive along with parking too if i have to keep shelling out pesos.
That’s environmental fee!
That is unfortunate. We didn't have that experience as didn't go to any beaches with a fee. We did have to pay an 'environmental' fee to go to Banaue and Batad but I'm not sure how it was spent because in many places there was still a lot of litter thrown around. 😌
Better have a check-up with s PT doctor to give you Lumbar Radiculopathy lab test, where cables will be attached to ankles, back of knee etc attached to a computer and seen in a computer scren by dr to see what vertebra in the spinal cord has a problem, if there are nerves that are being pinched. Better do this to prevent getting aggravated then many sessions of therapies will happen and to avoid carrying heavy, no stooping down, no bumpy rides, no running. Because I was uounger then then carried wrongly something heavy,I got a slip disc at Lumbar 4, so good thing I quickly had myself checked-up by a Special Rehabilitation Medicine Doctor, had 12 sessions of PT treatments. Though lifetime to avoid those I mentioned so as to be able to walk. DONT DELAY.
Thanks so much Victoria 🙏. I've had many tests and scans over the years. An MRI revealed a bulging disc L4 L5 which gives me trouble if I aggravate it and the nerve gets pinched. It causes sciatic pain and muscle spasms that cause scoliosis.
I've learned how to deal with it over time by avoiding the triggers and treat it with rest, light stretches, yoga to bring my body back into shape, heat treatment to the muscles and anti inflammatories. Sometimes it can take days or weeks to correct. An inconvenience when travelling in testing circumstances but it will never stop me from backpacking the world. 😁👍🙏
@@FrugalTravellers I love your videos. I also had back problems for many years. I had two issues. One was a sacroilliac joint problem which a therapist could put back into place until I learned how to adjust it myself through watching youtube videos. And then I had lower back problems which seemed to come on with very little aggravation eg doing up shoelaces, sneezing or even playing pool for too long. The inflamation (stiffness/pain) would always go away after 2-10 days. That was until I discovered the Mackenzie technique. I visited a practitioner and she advised doing a gentle cobra pose from Yoga twice a day and never sit without support for the lower back so on a plane journey or bus ride I always use a jersey like a cushion to support my lower back and the same for sitting in a restaurant or sitting anywhere. After 10 years of intermitent back pain I have now gone 7 years with very few issues.
Bibingka with coconut milk & young coconut meat inside.
So delicious and sweet 🤤😍
I love this couple. ♥️♥️
Thank you so much, Mae Ann 🙏🥰♥️

Massages and Chipactor are really cheap in Philippines, might help with his back issue
Thank you so much 🙏 I had a wonderful massage in Puerto Princesa and will highlight it in another video. ☺️
love your channel its frugal indeed❤have you brought your husband to "manghihilot" or massage i think it will help him to ease his pain in the back
Thank you so much for the recommendation 🙏😍. We went for a wonderful massage in Puerto Princesa which we'll show on another video. ❤️. It helped a lot.
Oh no I’m so sorry that you were in pain during the filming of your Palawan trip. Lee I do hope you’re doing well now.
My own experience the best time to come to the 🇵🇭 starts January till April. This months are the dry season however it starts to get hot n humid around April.
Bibingka and banana cue two of my fav snacks 💚 add turon with langka (jackfruit) inside 😂.
My fave Turon recipe was taught to me by an aunt, & includes a bit of langka & macapuno along with the plantain…that’s pretty much the only way I’ve made turon for years now.
My back has improved a lot since then thank you very much 🙏
We'll have to do another trip over that winter period. Sounds great.
So many amazing foods and snacks in the Philippines. I think we have more to discover. ❤️😋🇵🇭
Do stores there take visa or mastercard?
bring cash on the safe side specially in remote areas where there is no internet connection
I agree. Best to have cash on the small island villages. You can withdraw from an ATM in the bigger towns.
You cant rent Action Camera in the Philippines
We saw signs advertising GoPros for hire at El Nido.
Please Drink Bottle Water only when your in Palawan
We don't want to contribute to the huge environmental problem of plastic waste so always filter and treat water ourselves instead. 👍
Hope your back would be ok soon.
Thank you so much 🙏🤗
“Munggo/
Mung bean” is delicious and healthy. 🤤 😋 wow Bibingka/rice cake.
So delicious. Mung beans! 😋😋
The bibingka is naughty but nice. ❤️
