The good things in zi-o for me 1.form debuts 2. Old actors coming back 3.fixing and giving good ending's in the previous rider series 4.future riders 5.iwae and waga maou
I disagree with you on the third reason. Zio didn't actually "fix" anything, even ruined series for nonsense plots. Perfect Oldin got defeat by plot armor power. God artifact from Blade got destroyed easily by Zio Trinity, terribly forced ending for me. Zio W armor blocked 27 Maximum Drive of Eternal make no sense 🤨. The terrible writing alone killed almost everything else. At least woz and decade barely kept me watching though the show.
@@vinhpeo6902 Well Zi-O was the 'ultimate' KR for a reason. It isn't too hard to believe that the armors take some of Zi-o's power together with the past riders, therefore making it stronger
Most of Zi-O’s script is written by writers who wrote for the past heisei series(“past seasons”) who switches for an episode for that particular series it focuses on. e.g. Gaimu’s episode is written by Gaimu’s writer. This has its benefits as it doesn’t butcher the cannon of the past series the show tributes. So pretty much every episode is an inconsistent mess especially in terms of the main casts’ characterizations, and it’s most obvious in the first few episode. Important details coming out later in the series towards the end (such as Tsukuyomi’s amnesia) is just Zi-O’s writers coming back to finish the main story.
@@solarisone1082 nope, Decade is way better because of retelling of the rider stories and didnt ruined the original stories. Unlike Zio which have tons a lot of problem.
@@rakurai3999 zero one also have a lot of problem, not a good way to start a new era. It's ex-aid problem all over again. Kuuga is the start of new age done right.
I honestly like this show. The actors do a great job, the characters especially Sougo and absolutely Woz. The Another Riders are a cool idea and by god Oma Zi-O is gonna haunt my nightmares for a good while. This show doesn’t have the best writing at times and yeah they could’ve done some things better but is it really the worst? I don’t think so. It’s got problems but it’s got such great ideas and aspects that I think it’s a worthy conclusion to the Heisei Era. This Journey through the Decade has been a massive wonder with its ups and downs but so much fun all the same.
Zi-O was good for what it was: The last of the Heisei Era Series. They decided to make it one to remember, but not for writing quality. They wanted to make the installment itself memorable. They had two other supplementary web series, a crossover that gave them the W arc, and despite the series writing quality, they achieved their goal.
its not even good as what it is, they didnt even end the heisei era well. they used old character for nostalgic reason, the story concept brushed off after a while, it did what saban did with MASKED RIDER, destroyed heisei rider in one swoop just like MASKED RIDER destroyed entire showa in one go, but ironic is MASKED RIDER os still better than zio for having real story. unlike zio story which destroy every concept it have, and poor story writing. its beyond poor
@@funz0235 not really, they just dont have any idea on their story, it really is poor story writing, not to mention even the start of thr episode is rushed, they have the concept where zio gort their power and the original rider dissappear but they brush away that concept, even geiz shippu is hazardous to the user that can cause the user dead is retconned just by one episode and geiz"get used to it" when a machine isnt suppose to be a machine that GET USED TO type, unless they alter the shippu watch to counter that problem. rabbitrabbit/tanktank is the counter for hazard form to use that form power, drive deadheat make people going berserk but not destroying the onwer body which is why the user can get used to the form overtime. these rider story handled well by the story writer. zio? theres so much problem for the zio story, heisei didnt deserve such ending and mess that zio cause for the entire heisei, not to mention its shirakura who destroyed half of hibiki series. and the writer didnt even know which direction to take for the story, and they relied to much on nostalgia character try to cover everything up but it didnt. even kamen rider ginga arc is a big problem, the entire series itself is a problem.
@@funz0235 lmao having real older actor isnt the problem, Zio is worst than ghost and worst than wizard, and its not becuse of nostalgia fctor that they cant focus on story. because they dont know where to direct zio story to. and also destroying the concept already make it even worst, he can destroy another rider by having the original rider power, they dont need to go in time to destroy the another rider. its simply because the writter is being dumb. and the more reason they try to use nostalgia factor to cover everything up but failed. and of course hibiki tribute gonna be that stupid kiriya guy because its that stupid shirakura guy who destroy another half of hibiki storyline and make kiriya became oni, and what is more kiriya suppose to have his own form but they shove hibiki in it which make it even worst since most of te heisei phase 2 and hibiki is his fault to begin witj, especially zio. decade have no problem to begin with, the only plothole is narutaki, and there is no flashback of decade in the story, thats the only 2 main problem in decade. decade is much better because it used concept of alternative universe story telling rather than destroying original origin and good ending just like what he did in Zio. you are way to blind of zio storyline and geiz still is a problem, you cant get used to a killer machine unless that machine got some alteration to counter thar problem. its a kiler watch that cant get used to but they get rid of it for story sake and nostalgia factor doesnr make it any better, it make it worst. it destroyed the wonderful 1st 10 heisei too, it destroyed the good drive ending and every good ending. Zio = destroying heisei like MASKED RIDER destroyed showa in one swoop. again Decade story didnt ruin anything but zio does, you being blind just because they bring the older actor.
Zio is a good show imo The character (except the villian) are not that bad, especially sougo and his character development in near end game(early sougo is pretty darn bad tho),also woz best character
Had to admit, it went on a rough start. The early episodes were confusing and disoriented. But after Oma Day arc, the plot went extremely well, and I enjoy every second of it.
@@youraveragemachine1013 no literal tsukasa he was really expecting the outcome as seen in the last episode where he and daiki were at the top of a building
@@zeroanimation3956 Decade had no story. It had just borrowed the plot elements from the preview riders and turn it into one premise. Zi-O was like that, as well. Although I'll admit the Decade cast had a lot more personality, unlike the Zi-O one.
@@zeroanimation3956 guys decade already took over the show when he was only set as a 1 arc cameo due to his acting sched he literally became a main cast
Honestly only watched this season for more Decade content, but I honestly don't regret watching all the episodes. It was a fun season. Also Over Quartzer is one of my favorite openings now
The things that I would change in Zi-o: 1- a better final fight 2-tsukuyomi being a rider for longer time and having an upgrade/super/final form 3-geiz majesty being part of the series and having a better design 4-more woz 5-a better villain, another decade was cool, but it felt more like a pre-final boss (the boss that comes before the real final one) 6-a final fight with ohma-zio or better conclusion with ohma-zio 7- an episode that is the another ending of the series (the last episode was the 49, so lets say another final, a more happy one, is the another 49) 8- decade using his final form (the 20 heisei rider version) and diend gekijouban (also that daiki was way stronger, he looked weak in the series) 9- G Den-o doing his job and new Den-o helping
(And maybe could’ve given Woz his “grand Zi-o like form, idc if it was even in a v-cinema, I just need Woz’s final form to have many other riders like next, Poseidon, Aqua, etc)
Aqua belong to the future so I guess sougo just brought him back their alive . Though he could've done the same for geiz and tsukuyomi but I guess the guy didn't want to be lonely and atleast he gave them a place to call home as well as hora and uhr
@@larrytherustyboii7442 Yeah, but they gave like absolutely no confirmation which was annoying. Especially since Aqua is actually one of my favorite Riders.
@@thejknetwork9450 You know you're right. It would have been so cool if we saw shots of different characters who made tribute to the series. It would have been so much better than that last scene with sougo and his friends running to school in that weird scene.
Kamen rider ZiO is based on time travel in earlier episodes...some episodes cannot be explained just watching the drama alone without supplementary movies ( Heisei generations forever, over Quarzter movie and rider time: Shinobi and rider time: Ryuki episodes)... the episode build up in Kamen rider ZiO is like a big puzzle and finally I learnt that the mastermind from scene EP 1- 48 was nonetheless was carefully planned by Swartz himself...he deliberately tell Sogo to be a king, gain the power of all 20 Heisei riders ( and become grand ZiO) to fuse 20 worlds into one New World, and finally force Sogo to become oma ZiO. Swartz intended to gain the power of Oma ZiO to destroy the current world and become a new king to new world in order to save his world from being destroyed
Just wanna point out. Geiz literally makes it clear in Episode 3 that he has to keep an eye on Sougo for any sign that he'll become Oma Zi-O. AKA, the constant flip flop of allegiances is *expected* more so than not. It's well within his character due to having a mission and a lack of trust in Sougo. So I don't see that as a negative. Although you do have a point that it happens a lot, and maybe just having it be that Geiz is an enemy from the start and slowly becoming an ally throughout the season would've been better. But, who knows? Still, Zi-O is fine as is.
I mean Zi-O was one of my favorite seasons because of the action and forms, sure the characters got little to no development but I still had fun none the less. I am excited for the Giez movie and maybe if Woz gets a movie to come out.
Zi-O has up and downsides, and at some point I'd have to admit that the downsides might be greater than the up. But there's a catch. After 2 years with great shows like Ex-Aid and Build, it's really hard for Zi-O to be a tribute show and also stands out with its own plot and characters. I would not say that Zi-O was great tbh, but people is really exaggerated and overlooked its upsides.
I think if they had more budget and way more delay from the deadline, this would've been a really well made series. They could most importantly, squeeze in why Sougo even deserves to be king, to bear with this much power and responsibility than just "Oh someone said I could be King" and spouting his dream all over in school, distancing himself from the other kids. He does not even seem to know what Riders are up until Woz showed up..
Personally I liked Zi-O. I liked the fact that it was an anniversary series, Decade return and his role, the transformations and Armor Times, Another Riders, Woz’s Iwae, and the concept of time travel. The two things I didn’t liked was Swartz and the bad writing.
I like how Sougo is the sort of character that understands that he wanted to become king but is so sick of everyone forcing it upon him and being so sick of everyone fighting that he just accepts everything, and at the end of the series just yells at Geiz when he hates on the Time Jackers. Also I like how Geiz has a consistent character as he hates people until he is forced to see how badass they can be, but he hates everyone and doesn't seem to care much for anything but saving himself. This can be seen when he understands Zi-o when Zi-o fights another Zi-o and how Geiz hated the Time Jackers. Also I like how kikia has some relation to Sougo's past and how Sougo had these friends that were sprinkled as references when they visited other Riders. Makes the world feel whole. Also I like the plot twist with how Tsyukumi and Geiz were actually the reason for Oma Zio, what a plot twist.
Sougo wanting to be a emperor prob stems from his lacks of friends. Most people merely tolerate his existence and nobody seems to want to hang with him. So him being emperor could be him learning to cope with loneliness by being able to surround himself with people who like him
George Costanza back to the future movies are awesome In the first movie Marty accidentally went back to 1955 and met his younger version of his parents and try to get them together so he could exist In the second movie Marty buy a book from the future and the old buff took it back to his teenage years and cause the time to change and have to go back to 1955 to get the book and destroy the book In the third and current the last movie Marty friend doc went back to the old west Marty go back to the old west You that how the time travel works the Back to the Future movies they are perfect to I don’t know you think for these movies
Harry Potter's time turners basically allows for almost no marginal error in the whole time travel process, you see, because it only works on a singular timeline theory. You cannot change anything that has not already occurred. There isn't no timeline where Buckbeak would die, or Sirius Black wouldn't escape Azkaban. You basically use a time turner in harry potter to change the future, not the past itself basically. Back to The Future, while fun, introduces a whole complicated mess of alternate, unsolved timelines that are simple "What ifs", for layman's terms. It gets too complicated too fast because it's about "changing the past could have disastrous consequences", while Time Turners eliminate that whole concept together. TLDR; Time Turners are a more simple to understand and very less disastrous version of BTTF's time travel.
With Another Zi-O II all the history rewrites were from 2019 so as long as he was defeated his changes would be reversed. And the ride watches actually make sense. They contain a portion of the rider timeline from kuuga to Zi-O. So as long as a version of the originals powers exists you can make a ride watch from it. Plus he still has to go back and give a blank ride watch to the rider so it can be created in the present And with another decades ability he can create small pockets of looping time which hold missed choices and opportunities. He also has the ability to resurrect Dark riders we didn’t see where yuuki came from or G4 or a lot of them. It’s a separate ability Continuing on Zi-O wanted to be its own thing. And it was. It was its own show WITH tributes. If you came in expecting a pure tribute show you came in at the wrong angle. And therefore missing most of what Zi-O wanted to be. You don’t think it’s well written because you missed what it wanted to be. You missed SO MUCH about this show. We knew Tsukuyomi didn’t remember her past it’s brought up early on in the series which is another thing you missed. Eternal was focused on because his finisher can destroy worlds which he used to stop another decade. And at the end he was able to respect sougo because he can see his comrades again and actually DIE. Chaser was focused on because of his heavy role he played in drive. And also for the fact he was a rider. Resurrected as a villain and died like a rider. And the reason it sounds like you’re complaining is because that IS what you’re doing. If Zi-O traveled back to each year for the previous riders you would’ve said it was too monotonous and repetitive. Many people would. Ginga showed up when he did to show the audience that sougos mission isn’t as clean cut as it seems. And ryuga showed up when he did to draw out the wait for Geiz revive. Because white woz said that Geiz revive would be created when Geiz came into possession of the 3 watches that shouldn’t exist. Putting Oma day where it was fit so well because blades entire deal is that when one joker is left standing the world ends. And they turned another blade into a pseudo joker. We saw that they didn’t want to continue the fight but were drawn to do so or controlled to do so. When another blade was the only one left the world began to end which would’ve made it the point in history where Oma Zi-O rose to power or Geiz revive stopped the entire thing. It was do or die. Geiz changed sides so frequently because he was being constantly reminded of the future that awaits him if sougo turns evil but he’s conflicted with how sougos acted making him super unsure of where he actually needed to stand.
Finally somebody understood zio is not the fact that zio have the worst writing people dismiss the lot of details and what the series is trying to be, and conflict is being happening between the characters specially between geiz and sougo
Pedro Ferreira flip flopping between ideals at an age like that is almost to be expected especially when confronted with the dilemma that the guy who will destroy the world might become your best friend. Aside from tsukuyomi, sougo was probably the only real friend Geiz had because woz betrayed him
Good review! I always love seeing the throwback section when Zi-O's rumors were coming out. It felt so nostalgic and itst hard to find a year has passed. I like Zi-O. It might not be the best season up there with Build, Ex-Aid, Drive, etc. But, I still find enjoyment watching it. I even say the show was much better than Ghost. Yes, Zi-O had up-and-down but it gives some dynamic to how we love one tribute and hate one tribute. Even if it's bad, it doesn't feel like the writer is lazing or the show becomes boring. Compared to Ghost, I just felt nothing... The show never raises my excitement and it's just a boring experience post Alain's redemption. The biggest sin you could ever make for a show is making it boring.
Honestly I loved Zi O , his suit I think its dope also the watxhes r cool collectables. This is my opinion of course. The story was more like a goodbye to heisei and anniversary season so it was good.
Thank you so much for this video. It echoes a lot of what I thought about the show overall. And having this full retrospective available for me so I don't have to go back myself.
I personally have to disagree on your rant on Geiz, we knew pretty well what kind of character he was relatively early on and that was pretty much set in stone around episode 14. I'm just gonna pull out a post I made over half a year ago: And I quote: "I don't think Geiz is really inconsistent, there is a logical throughline that he follows. Well, Geiz is not the Terminator. He is human and with that comes one of the most important things for a Kamen Rider, a concise. When we first see him he is all for killing Sougo and attempts to three times during the first episode, however, the moment he shows that he currently is not evil and even saves Geiz from Another Build his resolve is shaken. He can't kill an innocent kid, one he doesn't really see becoming Oma ZI-O. So, since he can't bring himself to kill Sougo in cold blood he decides for the next best thing, kill him when he shows that he is evil and for that, he decides to stay close to him. When the next Another Rider case happens, he tries to hold Sougo out of it since he doesn't trust him, but Sougo comes along anyway and notices that Geiz seems to care about the victims of the Another Riders enough to work together with him. That continues until episode six, both Sougo and Geiz grow closer to each other, still, Geiz insists on just waiting for his time. Then the OOO arc happens, and with it, Sougo's seeming heal turn, so Geiz decides that it is time to kill him and we all know how well that went. He is unsure if he really can defeat ZI-O and when Sougo shows his real reasons for helping Dan he is even more confused. He doesn't know what to think and is seemingly powerless before Sougo, so he leaves and even thinks about helping the Timejackers, but his conscious again gets in the way, and he lands in the forest where he meets Kaito. Kaito talks some sense into him, and he is now determined to no longer hesitate, there is just one problem, Sougo has grown too much on him, so he is determined to not let Sougo become the Demon King, but a good one instead, even if he doesn't want to admit it himself. That is immediately shown in the first episode of the Ghost arc when he attacks Sougo in the morning, but the moment the smallest distraction shows up, like food or an Another Rider he just forgets about it. That is even more obvious when he is worried about Sougo when he is separated from his body, no attempted murder or anything, just his true feelings for Sougo. When the Dai Mazins show up the first time Geiz is at a dead end, he wants to trust Sougo, wants to change the future differently, but the world is ending, he can't do anything else than to try to kill Sougo after he tried to beg him to destroy the Driver, but he refused. When Sougo returns from the Future, he is all too willing to destroy the belt and leave Sougo alive, not even thinking about killing him and when he is in danger he rushes to his aid and when he realizes that he is not powerful enough to protect him he shows that he truly trusts Sougo and pleads with him to take back the belt and become a good King. He has finally admitted it to himself that he truest Sougo. He is now determined to help him to become a good king That is why he is not jumping on the promises of White Woz, he doesn't want to kill Sougo and let that future come to pass, just like Sougo doesn't want to become Oma Zi-O. And that rings true in the Quiz arc where he actually doesn't want to steal Quiz's powers, but instead helps him to get answers, only for White Woz to screw with his head. There is a logical throughline through Geiz's actions, and he is not inconsistent. Sure, he seems to flipflop on his decisions quite a lot, but only on the surface level, his motivations have developed quite naturally until this point. Both Sougo and Geiz until now are quite comparable with Sento and Banjo when it is about character development." And I could spin this further till the end, but that isn't really important, my point being, that there is good characterization without a backstory. Would it be interesting? Sure. Do we need it to understand him when we have all of this? No, not at all. On Sougo, yeah disagree heavily as well. I personally think he is a great character with a good amount of characterization behind him. I love character-driven stuff and ZI-O delivered in spades, you just have to actually try to get into characters heads and not take every word at face value, but that is pretty much how you should approach any kind of character. ZI-O had been the most fun I had with Kamen Rider since Drive and firmly plants itself as my seventh favorite season.
@@thomasjujube That's nice to hear. I'm just a person who loves going into characters heads and ZI-O has been very rewarding for me in that aspect. It's nice to have discussions, always gives one a new perspective on things.
I enjoy Zi-O despite its flaws, and Sougo Tokiwa really stole my attention as my second favorite Rider. I'm also a total sucker for Legend Rider gimmicks, so I still find enjoyment in their form gimmicks. I even jumped when I knew that Tsukasa (and later Daiki) were enlisted as the recurring casts that even showed up in the finale. Though I have to say, Zi-O's problems lie in these factors IMO: -A dissatisfaction from the previous anniversary season, which is none other than Decade. -Expectation of a large number of recurring casts. -Switching between so many different scriptwriters. -Some budget strains despite how crazy-rich Toei is. -Ignorance from the producer and the executives. Which means that if they're going to do another anniversary season, they're gonna have to amp up the story further and recruit rather lesser number of recurring casts while keeping them relevant to the story in a long term. Also, every Henshin item that gives a new Rider form must also have the said form appear in the series.
@@saiyautang4088 mainly it just focuses on an alternate epilougue timeline in which both jokers meet again based on that SIC story they didnt have time to invite the actor for leangle mainly because hes retired in the industry
Small warning, essay ahead, but I think Zi-O is an alright show, I like the characters, despite Geiz never fully committing to a side at points because Sougo got a power like Zi-O 2, and the fact they teased us with Kamen Rider Tsukuyomi in one of the .5 episodes but never went through with it until the end, but that's what kind of made them good moments when they came to realise Sougo was a good person but he was treading a path that lead to danger. With the time travel theme, I would have liked it more had it been used more, of course it's a budget thing and it's hard to try and have it so a returning actor doesn't look like they've aged much when so many years have passed and it causes a bit of a problem to have an Another Rider be roaming around for so long without a different Rider appearing to stop them, hence them doing Future Rider-based Another Riders for that time before just having the Another Riders be from the present day. The Ride Watches are cute and fun, but they tended to be looked over after Zi-O II's debut because Sougo had that, Geiz soon got Revive, and finally Woz Ginga, which is a shame, I loved seeing the Armors, but like with trying to connect "the past" with the present, budget only allow for so many Armors to be made, with the rest being Ganbaride and SO-DO figure exclusive, though they only ever designed Zi-O versions and no Geiz versions. Though the rules for how Another Riders work, first erasing the original's history then just existing alongside them, and how Ride Watches are made does become kind of confusing given that they changed following the Oma Zi-O Arc to possibly save budget on suits, and returning actors, hence Shinobi, Hattori Quiz, Kikai, and Ginga being made of suits that either been used once/twice or made in surplus so they could afford to spare them for these character. And it was impressive to see characters from past seasons return, though there were times they couldn't get the original Riders back, they got around it the best they could with side characters from those shows, like Fourze having Ohsugi, Kong and Nezu, Hibiki with Kiriya and Todoroki, Kiva with Gararu, and Double with Katsumi. The show itself also comes to a rather heartwarming resolution, with Sougo using his Oma powers to merge worlds/timelines so he has Geiz, Tsukuyomi, Heure, and Hora as friends in his present time so he's not the loner he used to be, especially as being a king with those powers would mean nothing with the allies he made in them, even if with Heure and Hora, it was rather last minute to fit the plot, though me thinks Oma Zi-O in that scene should have slowly faded to become Zi-O Oma from the movie to help signify that Sougo's choice a good one and while he become a Kamen Rider again anyway, he didn't do it just because he wanted to, but knew it was for the best. Though my only issues are, aside from Zi-O II taking away from Decade Armor just barely following it's debut, that Telebi-Kun and other magazines revealed too much as the show goes on, I know it's just how they work, needing to know what's going on when they have a month of episodes to feature, but I liked it when something was a surprise, besides Kamen Rider Tsukuyomi being sudden (and something that could have happened much earlier) as an example, how about when they were all talking about Daiki Kaitou returning and it turned out his return was in the Blade Arc, which far as I know, wasn't mentioned at the time? That was a great surprise, just a shame it couldn't be done more. Plus when it comes to Woz, if the BeyonDriver and Miride Watches are made from the Geiz Revive future, and it not happening with White Woz fading from time, how is it Black Woz can still use them when logic says that gear should had gone too? That never gets explained either, much like the example you brought up of us never finding out how Geiz got his Watch and Ziku Driver. Finally, there's the Kuuga and Double Watches, it's implied in the Den-O Arc that the events of Heisei Generations Forever aren't canon, Sougo not recognising the DenLiner and Imagin, so in show, those Watches existing go on unexplained, more so since we don't get a Kuuga/Double Tribute to explain them, which isn't helped because the mains for both shows can't or won't return for various reason, even a Hyper Battle Video could have explained them, but the one we've got is for Geiz being scared of ghosts? Other than that, I just have minor gripes that meant nothing or couldn't be done anyway, like how for it took till Agito's Arc to use music from that Rider's show in the big battles, Tsukasa and Daiki barely using Kamen Rides of Riders past their show (I would have loved to have seen Tsukasa as Fourze do an "Uchuu Kita"), or how they didn't do tributes for Amazons (it's dark tone would have to be lowered to be featured), Black RX, the proper first Heisei Rider, but isn't counted for various reasons (still debuted in Showa Rider, had Mr. Ishinomori working on it), or even The First/Next reboot movies of Ichigo, Nigo, and V3. And I can see the issue with Zi-O being trapped between being a tribute show and a show that runs by it's own, I could see that disconnect in between tribute arcs and own show arcs, and it is a hard thing to get right, Gokaiger managed because the past heroes gave our current heroes lessons, and with something like Fourze and Zyuohger, while they were anniversary shows, they were light on tributes (partly in Fourze's case because Toei didn't want a Decade rehash and they had already given use the big movie during OOO's run) and references, closest they got was an early episode of Fourze mentioning the past Kamen Riders, and Zyuohger having a web special featuring past character (most in suit only) and a Gokaiger team up due to Zyuohger lining up with the episode count to have the 1999th and 2000th episodes. But at the end of the day, I'm happy with what we got, and I can hope the V-Cinemas bring us more fun from what they can do.
Zi-O was my introduction to Kamen Rider , it is and will always be my favorite. Confusing asf ? YES ! But I love the characters and I love that it has all the older characters from the past KR series. The Ziku Driver is my favorite driver , to me it’s awesome. It’s hard to explain why but I just love the digital display and the rotating part that causes the transformation , it’s just cool. That’s just my opinion. 👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️
At first I thought Swartz was an irrelevant villain as a Time Jacker. But then near the end, it was actually him who orchestrated the events for Sougo to become Oma Zi-O just so he can usurped the latter's throne and be King. All of this and was kept under a low profile. Better for me than Evolto because by the time he was restored to full power, I felt asking: Are you gonna destroy the world now or are you just waiting to be killed?
@@darkside2655 My problem with Evolto was by the time he's restored, Build fell into stagnation. Episode 38 (or 39) was where the show broke my heart. The movies also supported in why Evolto should've destroyed Earth while there was time.
Honestly, even if I'm looking for good writing, I always end up turning my brain off when it comes to Tokusatsu. It's why I pretty much enjoy EVERYTHING- Also, the opening is fantastic and nobody can change my mind.
I still had a lot of fun with Zi-O. The cast definitely grew with the season and improved their acting along the way. Sougo in the last episode was fantastic.
I think Sogou was one of the only really good parts of the show. He's wonderfully charming and boyish which is clearly what they wanted. I loved seeing him in the last film, and I hope he comes back many times in the future (and I hope Decade continues as well), though I do think Aruto is a better overall character and I'd prefer to see him in every film going forward.
Also, Thomas, you missed a little Easter Egg: the Kiva arc was the worst in the show as a tribute to Kiva being the worst in the franchise. Personally I thought it was a brilliant touch.
A part that I really don’t like is that the tributes feel kind of disrespectful to the Riders since by the very nature of the show, they’re wiped from history, their trials and victories amounting to dick all or in the case of Aqua (who I’ve had this fan theory for a while is Eiji’s son) he’s just killed off with little ceremony. It kind of felt like they were doing to the Hesei Riders what the franchise has been doing to the Showa Riders for years.
With Zi-O I just felt disappointed all the way through. The returning actors is a cool thing, but they never take advantage of them properly because they want to do a tribute but still force in original plot. The Kiva arc for example is one of my favourites from this season because even though it was a Kiva tribute, the original stuff was decently well written and interesting. There are other things I liked, like Watanabe Keisuke and Masashiro doing Woz and Tsukasa respectively and some of the suit designs. Overall, I just think it's a really bad season. Not as bad a Hibiki, but still really bad.
That’s kinda the problem when you make shows that pay tribute to things on the run. If they had the recourses, time, and could do everything they want I’d assume we’d have all the riders have interactions with Sougo to determine what happens with it being well thought out, but with actors not being required to come back it’s questionable whether they can do anything. For what it is though I’d say it did its job and worked as a good enough way to say goodbye Heisei and at least acknowledge the era and for the actors that could and did want to return, I say amen to them.
@@firewolf950tfwgaming7 Agreed. They were hamstrung by quite a few factors...but what they did was pretty good. The Agito and Blade arcs were both pretty good. Despite the Blade suit showing its age.
5:57 to 6:50 That backstory is probably reserved for the V-Cinema. There were also rumours that Geiz's backstory was about to be covered in a 3-part miniseries and it was going to be included in the Zi-O's blue ray releases, but they canceled it.
Everything I love About this show has already been said pretty much. The Actors, the characters (Especially Woz and Sougo, as well as Sougo's Uncle), The suits and action, the past actors and story arcs, I know that this show isn't the best written by a long shot and there are alot of things left unexplained and some might say there's a lot of lost potential. But you'll find a lot to love about this show regardless of its flaws. Zi-O gets my love and a thumbs up from me♡🖒
I usually turn my brain off when watching Toku anniversary, especially when they are more tribute orientated. However, watching ZI-O reminded me of being a kid again watching Kamen Rider for the first time, being an awe of the cool moments that this show had to offer. In the end, much like you, I can't hate this show, and while I am a bit disappointed with some aspects of it, I think it really was a fun book end to the Heisei Era.
@@justinesun631 that explain alot, like seriously decade we had a decent writer then jumpship and toei be like whag are we gonna do now. For zi-o , its like hey imma hire a writer for a sentai season that didnt do well, like are they running out of writers and somehow they manage to bring toshiki inoue into the production. And when the writer left a plothole , shirakura is standing by on twitter
My ratings for the kamen rider shows I watched Wizard:(7/10) Ex-aid:(9/10) Ghost:(0.5/10) Build:(10/10) Gaim:(9.5/10) W:(8.5/10) OOO:(9/10) Drive:(8/10) Kabuto:(6/10) Zi-O:(3/10)
There has been one thing that confused me and that is the “fourze” arc, like why show the actor in the previous episode and than go to the school only to make it a faiz tribute
I mostly like this season. I mostly agree with everything you said. There is one more problem in this show, that I need to metion. Final Episode. I think that's the worst episode of Kamen Rider I ever watched. SPOILERS, FOR THOSE HAVEN'T WATCHED THIS SERIES. JUST IN CASE, I'LL MENTION IT. It starts with Tsukuyomi betraying other, which ruinsx quite good plan, that had quite high chance of beeing successful. Because of this, events played as it is and Geiz dyed. While Geiz is dying he said the confusing thing to say. "Become Oma Zi-O", or how I heard it, "Become the guy who will destroy the world. Why? Because you are the king of time!" If Geiz said for example "It seems we don't have other choise, Oma seems to be powerful enough to defeat Sworts". Then, after Sogo becomes Oma Zi-O, Tsukuyomi betrayes again, which kills her.(I am pretty sure, if she waited for few minutes, Sogo would beat Another Decade by that time. Yeah, she will be erased, but that still feels kinda stupid). And then then copypastiing Build with it's world reset. In alternate timeline, I maybe wouldn't say it's a copypasting, but in this scenario, it feels like it is
0:18 is that Tiga? ☺️ If so what show is this? Very much would like to see watch that 😊 I grew up on Tiga and I'm always looking for a new piece of media to watch with him in it.
@@thomasjujube thank you very much! I appreciate it so much, my dad brought me up on tokusatsu and when the rate occasions of his Ultraman and mine share the screen we make time to watch the episode ! Thanks again for your help!
To be honest, Zi-O suffered from the same things that Gokaiger did: Focus so much on the past that you can't really give much cohesion to the current cast. The only difference is that Gokaiger was mostly because so many wanted to help kids smile after the earthquake (if you believe Macrosatsu's Did You Know video on it, I think). Here, I think many people wanted to give closure or offered to help only when it worked for their schedule, and as such that's why Zi-O was a bit jumbled up on what it wanted to do.
I think it’s fine for suogo’s character since he is just a kid that dream to be a king but unspectacular, the future he had return trying to hunt him. I can see a lot of flaw in the series if we change some part of the story, it will be become good show.
This was an interesting series, but I can't help but feel let down by it; to me, I would say it's on par with Zyuohger as a series, in my opinion... not atrocious, but not amazing either. I have to agree with you on this one; it was an ambitious production, but fell short on everything Despite an amazing premise, amazing concepts, and amazing characters (I especially LOVE Decade's return and how he was incorporated), the execution of its elements bogged the show down considerably, making it feel confusing, rushed, and non-sensical at times Also, I can't believe they didn't use ALL of the Main Heisei Rider Watches for Zi-O and Geiz; this was like the central gimmick of the series and yet... they didn't use it completley? I would personally sacrifice ALL secondary riders just to have the Main Heisei Riders be used at least ONCE in the series.
I'll always love Zi-O for the sole reason being it gave us Heisei Generations Forever, and the Over Quartzer movie. That alone is enough for me to loge Zi-O. And of course, IWAE as well. Can't forget that.
Honestly the Tribute’s was what made the show good,(Despite 1.Not All Riders Returned which is understandable,2.We Didn’t Get All 19 Forms) It’s Like when you see people from a past season,it’s just like “so we know what went down in this season so how will they execute the next 2 episodes”.Even with RIder Time Ryuki,it was pretty much just a “17 years after” movie when they pretty much compress the whole plot into 3 episodes along with making it so that we’d still get the Ryuki Watch As The Outcome. Not only was it a good Tribute but they got back half the OG cast which was an enjoyable tribute. It was more so the Character Development & The Endgame Plot that made stuff weird, but overall it was a great way to end off the Era
Zi-O is what you get when you mix Decade, Den-O, and then base the entire series around the Rider themed forms you typically get in the KR movies that really got started with Gaim. It’s good for what it is as the end of an era. While not the best it is nowhere the worst with Ghost still holding that title. They made his Ichigo form just a hood with a scarf attached to it.
As the 20th anniversary season of the Heisei era, the story of Sougo Tokiwa transitioning from the bumbling idiotic but dangerously cunning hero to the fearsome, ruthless, powerful Demon King of Time should have been the core essence of the show. Sougo possesses the traits of his tyrannical future self: a calculative chess master deeply buried beneath his innocently insensitive idiotic face. This trait was officially confirmed when we saw him effectively according to some of the episode arcs: Wizard Arc - taking advantage of Black Woz's loyalty and Geiz's insistence of obtaining the Ridewatches. Shinobi Arc - walking into White Woz's trap, he intentionally motivated Rentaro to believe in his future self, but unwittingly succeeded on helping White Woz create the Shinobi Ride Watch, one of the three Future Ride Watches to create Geiz Revive, the savior who shall vanquish Oma Zi-O. Quiz Arc - allowing Geiz to fight him while being completely aware that Geiz wanted Mondo to change history by reconciling with his father. Kabuto Arc - pretending to take part of Kageyama's plan of "saving Yaguruma" by countering it together with Black Woz's Ginga gravity powers. Whereas Black Woz's grooming of Sougo becoming Oma ZI-O, White Woz hails from the Geiz Revive timeline, a branch that Geiz has no idea at all that he unintentionally created a new timeline when he destroyed Sougo's Ziku Driver: a timeline wherein he successfully killed Oma Zi-O on Oma's Day, an event that glorified him to be revered as the Savior. This was hinted back in January 2019 when Sougo dreamed about Kamen Rider Shinobi from 2022. But my biggest complaint is that we never get to see a real glimpse of this timeline especially on what happened to Geiz. I have three hypothesis regarding Geiz's status there: 1) he is now an old man in the new 2068. He did not use the Time Mazine to travel to 2068 but stayed there in 2019 after he killed Oma ZI-O. Upon his triumph, Woz pledges his loyalty to his new master. He sends (White) Woz to 2019 to groom his fundamentally stubborn younger self into the almighty Savior just like how Oma Zi-O sent Black Woz to groom Sougo on the path to Demon King. 2) he sacrificed himself as he succumbed to death upon defeating Oma Zi-O. This historical event is what made the people there in the new timeline to address him as Geiz Revive. 3) Sougo betrays Woz on Oma's Day before proceeding to kill him for his usefulness but Geiz saves Woz upon the nick of time when Woz was about to be sliced to death. Geiz strangled and impaled Oma ZI-O by taking advantage of Goretsu's super strength until he goes for a suicidal finishing move that exploded both of them like a nuclear time bomb. This could be a factor why Woz calls him "my savior"
John Ray Fernandez That could have been good writing. Heck, give Sougo character development and instead of having Sougo becoming Ohma in the final, either make Grand the good version of Ohma or use Oma Form. Personally, I’d go with the latter because not only does it work with Sougo becoming a good king without becoming Ohma, it also keeps the theme of the original Kamen Rider: the Powers come from evil, yet Kamen Riders use it for good. Heck, why didn’t they just use old man Ohma as the final villain?
@@justinesun7270 I'd rather have Sougo himself intentionally take the mantle as final villain because he is Oma Zi-O's younger self. He could have sided with the Time Jackers and demotes them into his underlings while pretending to be Swartz's loyal enforcer but in the end, he kills Swartz in episode 47 and then episode 48 and 49 will focus on the climactic battle between the Savior and Demon King for the throne of time.
John Ray Fernandez Now I’m curious in Reiwa’s era 10th anniversary. Will Geiz will be the one to guide the 10th Reiwa Rider in your version? Personally, while a protagonist becoming a final villain is interesting, I feel would be better if Sougo outright gets good character development. Would be interesting having him and his old man self fight each other. But hey, it’s your idea, so I respect that.
Hmm.. Geiz? Hmm... I guess so and it would much be better if Sougo deliberately addresses himself as Oma Zi-O in the 10th anniversary as he takes full control of Japan... while he completes the powers of Zero One up to the 9th Reiwa Rider, the villains such as Thouser is one of his toughest enforcers. Although Sougo might be ruling with an iron fist in the 10th Reiwa season, he is quite benevolent for the most part as he has good publicity... there is no criminal activity until the 10th Reiwa Rider causes havoc and destruction (in Sougo's perspective) but he is trying to get Sougo back to his senses...
Another random question: What happened to Ora and Heure's Time Mazines? Ora's had the ability to turn into the Kiva castle. That might have come in handy when they were being chased by another riders.
the show still running altho its already in reiwa era, maybe thats one of the reason why the story looked like rushed. i (and maybe some ppl too) watch zio coz of decade, they made good decision to keep decade till end.
As some one who has seen every Heisei series plus Black and a smidgen of Amazon I'd say Zi-O is in the middle in terms of ranking for me. It's only major flaws is that there were writing issues similar to that of Wizard and Ghost. It didn't suffer from mishandling like Hibiki or missing the essence of previous seasons like Decade. In my opinion it's major strength was the fact that it brought back many of the actors as well as bring closure to some of the other series.
Kamen Rider Zi-O isnt the worst season, nor the best season, but a great season overall. And speaking of bad written show you can barely understand what they say because it's japanese, unless you read captions.
For me, the biggest weakness is its head writer and head producer. Kento Shimoyama and Shinichiro Shirakura are both terrible at what they do. The sub writer who wrote the Hibiki and Kabuto arcs? That man could've been the main writer. Shimoyama may have made something good with GoRider, but having the man who wrote Ninninger and screwed a season that started off so strong up, along with pairing him with one of the people responsible for Hibiki's retool (yet he gets less flack than Inoue due to not being the head writer I guess), and you get a season that had an interesting premise, but bad execution. Zi-O shows some improvement from his Ninninger days, but not much. It leaves me feeling disappointed. I saw so much potential in Zi-O's premise, and such good insert songs... and they screwed up so badly.
There was just so much wrong with the show honestly. It really hurt it. Especially when they couldn’t decide on how to use plot points like erasing riders from history or for them to not be able to transform anymore. So now they can transform without issue despite their another riders existing. Which they never explain. Been seeing people saying Sougo is a deep character but it was based on him having a tragic backstory or how he suddenly acts like an overlord in the making (OOO episodes) that wasn’t handled very well. Not the worst but not the best. In the end the show was just a giant mess.
Sorry is not the fact that sougo is a bad character you just didn't get the conflict he was being through It's not like zio is the worst series SINCE WE KAMEN RIDER GHOST
Zio is fun, but i really hate the early episode of zio because there is no plot and no story progres except for getting rider watch, but then they give it a nice plot and progres and it's fun. I agree with zio is confused to be a anniversary rider or have it's own story but i think in the episode like blade and ryuki tribute they try to mix them and i like it because they also give a proper ending for blade and ryuki which ending is kind of not end (except ryuki good ending tho), but yeah i do feel they rush the story at the ending but my favorite part is when sougo turns into ohma zio in the final episode, they just back to kuuga by using ultimate form in the final episode
Jinbron you shouldn’t listen to sai yay tang, its just a bot that spams random nonsense on kamen rider videos in replies. Also look out for Jeffery Tang too
I really like Geiz and Woz in this season. They made me watch the season more. But yeah Geiz and Woz doesn't have enough backstory to make me love them more which actually makes me sad I really like Woz so much and his versatility when he is portraying his alternate self and when Momotaros got inside of him.
My main 2 complainments for the series was Geiz's stand and the plain character development, we had too many high and lows with those 2 aspects. But the series is really enjoyable overall, I myself found really interesting the twist of the Another Riders creation because it worked to pay a rightfull tribute for the returning veterans; and I think that the best part of it all is that the way to Oma Zi-O was a paradox that had different branches all along to achive the advent of The Demon Lord at some point. It might no be a wonder among Rider's series, but it does work out quite well.
I enjoyed Zi-O a lot, loved the Another Riders as a concept, and the Ridewatches are a fun gimmick. I have a hard time finding faults in the shows I watch cause I turn my brain off for everything, which really increases your enjoyment of stuff.
I haven't seen Zi-O (still new to Kamen Rider but I would prefer watching several seasons before seasons that have cameos/tributes to other seasons) but when I looked at the comments on Japanime's video, most people didn't like this season. But when I look at the comments in this video, people liked this season. The only seasons I have seen so far are Kamen Rider Build (my first, loved it) and Ryuki's adaptation Kamen Rider Dragon Knight (my second, which I also enjoyed). Will watch Zero-One. Would Zi-O be a recommended season to watch or will I be lost in confusion like when I tried watching Kamen Rider x Super Sentai Super Hero Taisen?
I don't think you would get very confused because a lot of important aspects are explained. You just might not get as much enjoyment out of certain episodes. Also, yeah I noticed that difference between my comment section and Japanime's it's kinda funny
This is how i would have planned the show with 50 ish episodes. 1-5 *Introduction Arc* Establish Zi-0, world, time travel. 6-20 *Rider Tribute* Time travel to save Past Riders from Another Riders establishing the Time Jackers with Decade, Second Rider with Resistance(and diend) and Hint at Oma Zi-0. 21-35 *Geiz, Diend, and Resistance redemption arc* Introduce Another Zi-0 and his quest to beat Zi-0 to kinghood leading to him acquiring Another Zi-02 as power up only to lose to Zi-0 as he acquires Grand Zi-0 surpassing time and becoming the King and defeating Another Zi-02. 36-41 *Enter the Future Riders Arc* Oma Zi-0 takes things into his own hands and goes after the heroes personally. The Heroes flee through time as they are hunted by the Future Riders and White Woz. Each time they go to an ally Past Rider for help they find that person snatched from time itself as the enemies close in. This all comes to a head when the heroes are corralled by the villains to a battle with Oma Zi-0 and his future Riders. *ENTER DECADE* with all the past riders for a 2-3 episode Rider War as Tsukasa reveals his true intention of guiding Zi-0 through a "destroyer" identity crisis similar to what he had in the past. Heroes defeat Villains and Zi-0 pulls a "Disney's Meet the Robinsons" reference as he defeats Oma Zi-0 with one simple phrase. "I will never become you." 42-50 *Another Decade* Things return to normal as the riders return to their own timelines. Geiz knowing that though his timeline is destroyed he has no where to return to. He relents to stay and watch Zi-0 grow into the king he knows he can be. Camera focuses on Swatz but cuts away as he henshins leaving his form a mystery then you see Geiz take a blow from behind seemingly ending his life as the first episode ends. Swartz as Another Decade and having the powers of all the defeated Another Riders now taunts and torments Zi-0 over the death of his friend and his powerlessness to defeat him. As we reach episode 48 the battle between the two has begun with the conflict at an apparent standstill then Swartz uses an new Another Rider power, that of Another Geiz getting in Zi-o's head and taking the upper hand. Episode 49 the battle look lost but as Zi-0 is on the brink of losing, having his driver badly damaged and de-powering, something snaps. Remembering his friend Geiz and all they had been through he flies into a rage attacking Swartz with no rider powers to aid him. Swartz easily bats him away only for Zi-0 to keep rising. After several futile attempts to fight he places his hand on his driver which changes into the Oma Driver and he henshins. Now Oma Zi-0, he mops the floor with Swartz easily. He preforms his rider kick and before exploding Swartz laughs maniacally stating "long live the King". His purpose fulfilled. Episode 50 Tsukoyomi calls out to Zi-0 as Woz and Tuskasa carry the injured but living Geiz to see his friend now the dreaded demon king. Zi-0 laments having taken on this power and wishes he could take it back but knows he can't. He's glad his friend is alive but has decided to sequester himself from time and space there by removing the threat of Oma Zi-0 from reality itself. as they say their goodbyes he goes to fall backwards through a time portal. The rest of the episode would be an Cinematic shot of the Epilogue showing that all is well with the rest of the cast then show a castle in the void zooming in on a thrown room past a court of rider statues on his thrown sits the king. Oma Zi-0 watching over his friends through time for one day, if they need him, he will return. then a single tear drops from the cracks of his helmet.
Ryuki tribute was in the middle of the future rider arcs because February 3 is a premiere of Kamen Rider Ryuki this why Episode 21is Tribute to Kamen Rider Ryuki and zi-o's official 4th rider is actually Tsukuyomi and not decade
Ah well I guess that make sense but they could have handled the Ryuki thing a bit better. Also I don't think Tsukuyomi is the 4th Rider as she debuted at the very end of the show and didn't too much of anything
I don't know... based on how I watched....the show kinda more on making it's own thing...if you wrote down all the ideas... there's actually legit interesting ideas that the staff wants to make but because of the difficulties of trying to put some anniversary elements..it forces the show to go down hill pretty bad...
The good things in zi-o for me
1.form debuts
2. Old actors coming back
3.fixing and giving good ending's in the previous rider series
4.future riders
5.iwae and waga maou
0. Kamen Rider Decade appearance
Unfortunately the good ending are retconed

It was better than Decade Season One, that's for sure.
John Carr ouch
I like the season because it has lots of riders
This series suck
Zi-O was good for what it was: The last of the Heisei Era Series. They decided to make it one to remember, but not for writing quality. They wanted to make the installment itself memorable. They had two other supplementary web series, a crossover that gave them the W arc, and despite the series writing quality, they achieved their goal.
I guess I will give it that, Zi-O is certainly very memorable
One to remember... Time wasted.
its not even good as what it is, they didnt even end the heisei era well.
they used old character for nostalgic reason, the story concept brushed off after a while, it did what saban did with MASKED RIDER, destroyed heisei rider in one swoop just like MASKED RIDER destroyed entire showa in one go, but ironic is MASKED RIDER os still better than zio for having real story. unlike zio story which destroy every concept it have, and poor story writing. its beyond poor
@@funz0235 lmao having real older actor isnt the problem, Zio is worst than ghost and worst than wizard, and its not becuse of nostalgia fctor that they cant focus on story. because they dont know where to direct zio story to. and also destroying the concept already make it even worst, he can destroy another rider by having the original rider power, they dont need to go in time to destroy the another rider. its simply because the writter is being dumb. and the more reason they try to use nostalgia factor to cover everything up but failed.
and of course hibiki tribute gonna be that stupid kiriya guy because its that stupid shirakura guy who destroy another half of hibiki storyline and make kiriya became oni, and what is more kiriya suppose to have his own form but they shove hibiki in it which make it even worst since most of te heisei phase 2 and hibiki is his fault to begin witj, especially zio.
decade have no problem to begin with, the only plothole is narutaki, and there is no flashback of decade in the story, thats the only 2 main problem in decade. decade is much better because it used concept of alternative universe story telling rather than destroying original origin and good ending just like what he did in Zio. you are way to blind of zio storyline
and geiz still is a problem, you cant get used to a killer machine unless that machine got some alteration to counter thar problem. its a kiler watch that cant get used to but they get rid of it for story sake
and nostalgia factor doesnr make it any better, it make it worst. it destroyed the wonderful 1st 10 heisei too, it destroyed the good drive ending and every good ending.
Zio = destroying heisei like MASKED RIDER destroyed showa in one swoop.
again Decade story didnt ruin anything but zio does, you being blind just because they bring the older actor.
"I've decided... that I will destroy this world."

The things that I would change in Zi-o:
1- a better final fight
2-tsukuyomi being a rider for longer time and having an upgrade/super/final form
3-geiz majesty being part of the series and having a better design
4-more woz
5-a better villain, another decade was cool, but it felt more like a pre-final boss (the boss that comes before the real final one)
6-a final fight with ohma-zio or better conclusion with ohma-zio
7- an episode that is the another ending of the series (the last episode was the 49, so lets say another final, a more happy one, is the another 49)
8- decade using his final form (the 20 heisei rider version) and diend gekijouban (also that daiki was way stronger, he looked weak in the series)
9- G Den-o doing his job and new Den-o helping
(And maybe could’ve given Woz his “grand Zi-o like form, idc if it was even in a v-cinema, I just need Woz’s final form to have many other riders like next, Poseidon, Aqua, etc)

I’m sure everything in the show was undone by Sougo at the end, so Aqua’s probably fine
10:56 ITS NOT PINK! It’s Ma-zen-ta!
Thank you
*PINKU JANAI MA-ZEN-TA DA!*
The Pro Noob oh my goodness thank you for telling me how to say it in Japanese!!!
Sucks
I personally really liked Zi-o. It did struggle a bit in some parts but overall, it got better. Not better than the masterpiece that is Build tho
Build was so good up until the 40th episode. After that the show went to shit real fast.
So him being emperor could be him learning to cope with loneliness by being able to surround himself with people who like him
Rick and Morty was right about not including Time Travel as a plot device.
Back to the future is the only piece of media entertainment that does it right
tfw Harry Potter does time travel better then Back to the Future
George Costanza back to the future movies are awesome
In the first movie Marty accidentally went back to 1955 and met his younger version of his parents and try to get them together so he could exist
In the second movie Marty buy a book from the future and the old buff took it back to his teenage years and cause the time to change and have to go back to 1955 to get the book and destroy the book
In the third and current the last movie Marty friend doc went back to the old west Marty go back to the old west
You that how the time travel works the Back to the Future movies they are perfect to I don’t know you think for these movies
Unless it’s Doctor Who.
Just like Decade, Zi-O was just trying to have fun and celebrate everything Kamen Rider Heisei Generations.
Plus he still has to go back and give a blank ride watch to the rider so it can be created in the present
And with another decades ability he can create small pockets of looping time which hold missed choices and opportunities. He also has the ability to resurrect Dark riders we didn’t see where yuuki came from or G4 or a lot of them. It’s a separate ability
Continuing on Zi-O wanted to be its own thing.
Holy shit
Finally somebody understood zio is not the fact that zio have the worst writing people dismiss the lot of details and what the series is trying to be, and conflict is being happening between the characters specially between geiz and sougo
Pedro Ferreira flip flopping between ideals at an age like that is almost to be expected especially when confronted with the dilemma that the guy who will destroy the world might become your best friend. Aside from tsukuyomi, sougo was probably the only real friend Geiz had because woz betrayed him
Charlie Jenkins yes I just counter analyzed his analysis and review
sai yau tang ok?
I hated Drive but loved Zi-O, so uh oh
Honestly I loved Zi O , his suit I think its dope also the watxhes r cool collectables. This is my opinion of course. The story was more like a goodbye to heisei and anniversary season so it was good.

Thank you so much for this video. It echoes a lot of what I thought about the show overall. And having this full retrospective available for me so I don't have to go back myself.
No problem, I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
I personally have to disagree on your rant on Geiz, we knew pretty well what kind of character he was relatively early on and that was pretty much set in stone around episode 14. I'm just gonna pull out a post I made over half a year ago:
And I quote:
"I don't think Geiz is really inconsistent, there is a logical throughline that he follows.
Both Sougo and Geiz until now are quite comparable with Sento and Banjo when it is about character development."
And I could spin this further till the end, but that isn't really important, my point being, that there is good characterization without a backstory.
Well I will say this has certainly given me a new perspective on Geiz. I still don’t think he’s amazing but you propose some very good arguments
@@thomasjujube That's nice to hear. I'm just a person who loves going into characters heads and ZI-O has been very rewarding for me in that aspect. It's nice to have discussions, always gives one a new perspective on things.
Fun fact:Neo Decade was created to celebrate 10 YEARS of Decade.
Though I have to say, Zi-O's problems lie in these factors IMO:
-A dissatisfaction from the previous anniversary season, which is none other than Decade.
Bad writing, good cameos, especially sekai no hakaisha, kadoya tsukasa and his bestish friend, aka daiki kaito
not cameo they were now part of the main cast
I have to disagree with u.Evolto actually feels like a villain but Swartz didn't have that same feeling
@@darkside2655 My problem with Evolto was by the time he's restored, Build fell into stagnation. Episode 38 (or 39) was where the show broke my heart. The movies also supported in why Evolto should've destroyed Earth while there was time.

Time travel never make sense in anything tbh
It makes perfect sense though? It’s no Steins;Gate so if it goes over your head, it’s just you
It made perfect Sense for me
at least it does, also theres different universe in rider series and shitrakura destroyed it completely
I liked Zi-o but what I didn’t liked was that the time travel could be mostly confusing
I still had a lot of fun with Zi-O. The cast definitely grew with the season and improved their acting along the way. Sougo in the last episode was fantastic.
Yeah I agree Sougo was super good in the last ep
the one thing im very confused is how grand zi-o is hated? terrible design? i really like the suit
Probably the belt....
4:36 In certain adaptations of Zi-O, this is actually done. In my Rider adaptations, I have a female secondary Rider (Gatack). Don’t ask why
It kind of felt like they were doing to the Hesei Riders what the franchise has been doing to the Showa Riders for years.
this was personally one of my fav seasons. It was just so much fun to watch
It seems that scheduling and availability really hurt the show.
Man that sucks. Stuff like that so integral to the character should be included in the series proper in my opinion

There has been one thing that confused me and that is the “fourze” arc, like why show the actor in the previous episode and than go to the school only to make it a faiz tribute
To bait all the fourze fans
If so what show is this? Very much would like to see watch that 😊
I grew up on Tiga and I'm always looking for a new piece of media to watch with him in it.
That does seem to be Tiga. The show looks like its Ultraman X
Plus the Gokaigers were pretty badass compared to the Time Riders 🤔
The only bad thing was no show decade complete with the neodecadedriver
ahhh man that would have been pretty cool
I think it’s fine for suogo’s character since he is just a kid that dream to be a king but unspectacular, the future he had return trying to hunt him. I can see a lot of flaw in the series if we change some part of the story, it will be become good show.
The main problem with Zi-O is that whenever the show has an idea they don't develop it and show too late.
yeah that's a lot of the ideas :/
Great vid, man👍
Thank you!
This was an interesting series, but I can't help but feel let down by it; to me, I would say it's on par with Zyuohger as a series, in my opinion... not atrocious, but not amazing either. I have to agree with you on this one; it was an ambitious production, but fell short on everything
Despite an amazing premise, amazing concepts, and amazing characters (I especially LOVE Decade's return and how he was incorporated), the execution of its elements bogged the show down considerably, making it feel confusing, rushed, and non-sensical at times
Also, I can't believe they didn't use ALL of the Main Heisei Rider Watches for Zi-O and Geiz; this was like the central gimmick of the series and yet... they didn't use it completley?
This trait was officially confirmed when we saw him effectively according to some of the episode arcs:
Wizard Arc - taking advantage of Black Woz's loyalty and Geiz's insistence of obtaining the Ridewatches.
I have three hypothesis regarding Geiz's status there:
1) he is now an old man in the new 2068.
John Ray Fernandez And then in the end, either Sougo sacrifices himself or he realizes that he’s far too gone and decided to exile himself.
Another random question: What happened to Ora and Heure's Time Mazines? Ora's had the ability to turn into the Kiva castle. That might have come in handy when they were being chased by another riders.
Haha I completely forgot about those! You’re totally right
the show still running altho its already in reiwa era, maybe thats one of the reason why the story looked like rushed.
i (and maybe some ppl too) watch zio coz of decade, they made good decision to keep decade till end.
I wouldn't be reviewing the show if I didn't watch subtitles lol
I love zi o. It one my fave rider next to saber
Sorry is not the fact that sougo is a bad character you just didn't get the conflict he was being through
It's not like zio is the worst series SINCE WE KAMEN RIDER GHOST
@@funz0235 Great. Wish that was explained in the show.
@@funz0235 Would like to see where since I honestly don't remember.
I like Zi-O. This may be me being blind, but I enjoyed it all the way through. The show really got good during the Another Zi-O arc, in my opinion.
I gotta that zi-o was the best season yet.
I do love the future riders in the show. And I’m hoping that in 2022 they’ll make a Kamen Rider Shinobi solo series
0:38 gaoranger, and boukenger were left out mysteriously, which were both anniversary seasons.
Because they didn’t go all in with the anniversary aspect like I was saying in the video...
Zi-O was a good show and a great finale to the Heisei era
Geiz is just the kamen rider version of meta knight
Also they could have made the fourze tribute amazing....but they didn't
Because bleach live action happen

I really like Geiz and Woz in this season. They made me watch the season more. But yeah Geiz and Woz doesn't have enough backstory to make me love them more which actually makes me sad I really like Woz so much and his versatility when he is portraying his alternate self and when Momotaros got inside of him.
I don't know why, but 13:16 is the funniest shit
A *BETTER* 20th anniversary season, than the Frankenstein mess that is MegaForce/Super MegaForce.
Swartz’s Another Rider form at “Another decade” was funny
I enjoyed Zi-O a lot, loved the Another Riders as a concept, and the Ridewatches are a fun gimmick. I have a hard time finding faults in the shows I watch cause I turn my brain off for everything, which really increases your enjoyment of stuff.
Yeah Zi-O is certainly one of those “turn off your brain” shows
I still like Zi-O. Even if the phasing is bad, I still enjoy the thing. I don't know why.
@@thomasjujube Thank you.
Just a question tho, why do you pronounce Zi-O as "Gi-O"? The letters don't even sound the same, so I have been wondering...
There is no “zee” sound in Japanese so the Zi creates a “Ji” sound
This is how i would have planned the show with 50 ish episodes.
1-5 *Introduction Arc*
Establish Zi-0, world, time travel.
6-20 *Rider Tribute*
Time travel to save Past Riders from Another Riders establishing the Time Jackers with Decade, Second Rider with Resistance(and diend) and Hint at Oma Zi-0.
21-35 *Geiz, Diend, and Resistance redemption arc*
Introduce Another Zi-0 and his quest to beat Zi-0 to kinghood leading to him acquiring Another Zi-02 as power up only to lose to Zi-0 as he acquires Grand Zi-0 surpassing time and becoming the King and defeating Another Zi-02.
36-41 *Enter the Future Riders Arc*
Oma Zi-0 takes things into his own hands and goes after the heroes personally. "I will never become you."
42-50 *Another Decade*
Things return to normal as the riders return to their own timelines. Oma Zi-0 watching over his friends through time for one day, if they need him, he will return. then a single tear drops from the cracks of his helmet.
holy frick he has a gun 9:20
I honestly think that we are going to get a new Zi-o belt for the new era of riders.
Me too!
Finnaly a review video where the comment section is not full of hatred on zio
Ryuki tribute was in the middle of the future rider arcs because February 3 is a premiere of Kamen Rider Ryuki this why Episode 21is Tribute to Kamen Rider Ryuki and zi-o's official 4th rider is actually Tsukuyomi and not decade
Ah well I guess that make sense but they could have handled the Ryuki thing a bit better. Also I don't think Tsukuyomi is the 4th Rider as she debuted at the very end of the show and didn't too much of anything
@@thomasjujube sure Tsukuyomi as rider doesn't have lot of screen time but Toei and bandai officialy considering her as 4th rider of zi-o
I don't know... based on how I watched....the show kinda more on making it's own thing...if you wrote down all the ideas... there's actually legit interesting ideas that the staff wants to make but because of the difficulties of trying to put some anniversary elements..it forces the show to go down hill pretty bad...
