Never knot the JANEU, agr koi bhi JANEU mein extra gaanth lgata hai toh JANEU usse khandit ho jata hai uska meaning khtm ho jata hai.

Upaveetha need not be by threads … it was of cloth .. to make it easy symbolically threads are worn … even women wear during marriages … as I know Kshatriyas used to wear upaveetha made of silk thread … Brahmins used to wear cotton… Vaishyas woollen and others made of jute thread … when Krishna went kill Jarasanda he introduces bheema as a Brahmin… but seeing his upaveetham Jarasandha identified Bheema as Kshatriya …

You should get it made as per your size from a Brahmin and yo should never tie any other knot other than than the brahmmagandhi, also the Brahma Gandhi must be to the heart not on top
