Great instructional video! I have the chance to buy an old 580b but it has clutch and or transmission issues. So I thought I would see what was out there on YT that might give me tips on what to look for if I decide to buy it. Your video gave me some good insights on how to analyze a situation like this. Ok may have missed it but did you replace that filter you said should be checked as one of the first things you do when troubleshooting?? Thanx and God bless! 👍
Olá boa tarde! Tudo bem? Otimo video muito boa explicação. Como faço pra acessar o catalogo de peças ou manual de servico mecânico desse modelo de retroescavadeira. Tenho uma dessa aqui no Brasil e esta com problema no pacote de reversão,do anda pra trás. Queria manual pra poder desmontar e compra peças certas. Desde ja obrigado pela atenção.
What was the problem you were having with the clutch before you began this repair? I have a 580CK (videos on my TH-cam channel) and the clutch pedal linkage is stiff. I think that the spool valve could be part of the issue. Thanks for posting this fix; every little bit about these old tractors helps someone. + I just subscribed to your channel. All the Best!
I found some FREE online manuals. Here is a parts manual for your 580 B Series: www.tractorparts.com/PDFs/CASE_580B_CK_WITH_SHUTTLE_TRANSMISSION_PARTS_CATALOG.pdf
I have a 1970 case 580ck that doesn't move forward or backwards. If i lift the wheel in the air and put it in gear, tires will spin very slow and i can stop them by grabbing the tire with my hand. Do you have any idea what it might be? Thanks
Assuming it's a shuttle shift like mine, forward neutral reverse on the steering column, then I have bad news. They use a wet clutch system on the front of the transmission, it's hydraulicly operated with the shuttle and the clutch petal is actually a dump valve. Sounds like your clutch packs are worn out. So as far as I know you will have to split the tractor at the trans to get to them.
@26:37 do you know what is behind those fittings, o ring? or just threaded. I have a decent leak there and would like to get what i need before i pull it apart.
I dident actually take the fittings off the valve block but as far as I can tell it appears to be an SAE fitting with an o ring. Not sure what size but if you don't already have one an o ring master kit like the one linked is handy to have and will definitely have the right one. shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/dorman-autograde-metric-o-rings-value-pack-32-skus-419-pieces-799-452/22144391-P
Well I just made the pin out of a 1/4-2 bolt and marched the length to roughly to the original parts so I dident make a drawing or anything just kinda winged it
Great video - I'm having trouble finding a link to the PDF manuals you mentioned at the beginning of the video. I have a 580c, I think it's a 1971or 1972 (?) The dump valve looks very similar but I need to order parts to rebuild. Any help on a link would be greatly appreciated - Thank you!!
The ok case tractors website changed I can't find it anymore so I need up buying a full set of manuals online from manualslib.com I think it was less that $100 for the operators, parts and service manuals
My 580B is leaking from a port under the valve body ... like dumping out, any idea what that could be? I'm guessing something is messed up with the relief valve? I noticed it leaking, backed up, and when I shut the tractor down it dumped hard out of it ... once I started the machine back up, 30 seconds in after pressure was built, it started running like a river again, and when I shut the tractor down it unloaded ... I have pics and a video but can't upload them onto the comments here ... any info or ideas would be greatly appreciated th-cam.com/video/KaF9iuWENmE/w-d-xo.html
Based on the video it looks like maybe the gasket under the block is blown out but it's hard to tell, also the milky color of your oil means it has water in it which can lead to rust related problems
@@GRTRanchadventures Thanks for the response, I was surprised with the amount of milky fluid in there ... I just drained the system and put brand new stuff in it hours before this had happened, and it had sat for a week with the drain plug out ... there is a sort of port there it's pouring out of, I'm hoping its supposed to be there to dump fluid incase of issues? either way I'm gonna try to pop the block off Monday ... thinkin I'll pull the fuel tank off and then dive into it as you did ... I've read online to watch out that the spring and detent ball doesnt fall out for the relief and then down into the gear housing causing you to have to split the tractor to retrieve it ... ever run into that issue before?
@@GRTRanchadventures Looking at the schematic, it looks like it's a Cup Plug that came out ... surprising in the fact that its summer time and nothing froze, but maybe over the years it wore out? possibly when I filled the machine with new oil there was water in it and over filled causing pressure and blowing it out? either way, gonna hope that its a cup plug on there that is gone and its an easy fix
@@HeikkinenClan for sure watch out for that ball detent like you said mine was pretty easy to keep control of but be careful. Mine is so dirty that I can't see any plugs there but if there is one it could have rusted out do to having water in the oil previously, if you had just changed it and it was still that milky it must have been pretty water logged before. Also I was able to get everything apart without removing the fuel tank so it can be done although it was pretty tight.
I know it probably didn't seem like much to you but that was easily one of if not the best how to videos I've ever seen
That's great, thanks. Good to see the how it works before pulling mine apart.
Excellent video, thank you… could you possibly post the skf part numbers for the seals? Thanks

Symptoms as to why you rebuilt it?? Have one and trying to narrow down clutch pressure issue

that plug to the spring, that should have had one or more 0.28 shims to set the relief pressure, with no shims, no pressure or bad pressure

go to 244 in that video
The backhoe is running and driving fine, I showed you everything I saw so if they were in there I dident see them.
@@GRTRanchadventures possible, i just worked on my boomer 40 tractor and the book says to reuse the 4 shims but there were only 3 :)

Any specs on the linkage with roller you built?
