I'm 99.9% sure the bass notes while Geoff was singing was one of the layers of his background vocal tracks they record for their videos, but the "Burn it" was all Layne!! This is probably one of the darkest songs Disney has had in their movies, in my opinion; and Voiceplay did an awesome job (as usual) with this song!

@@heinz57channel39 I've listened to that and their jingle medley more than a few times, it's hilarious lol. But I agree, and they all have insane vocal ranges. They all have a distinct tone/tamber as well, and it sounds more like Geoff's tone, if that makes sense?

I think it might be... Is it Layne that covers bass while Geoff does his parts? I know one of the members does. It's either Layne or Eli I think

@@natashasullivan4559 When they aren't using additional layers of their own voices, my first guess would be Layne.. If you want another Geoff lead and you haven't listened already, they covered Oogie Boogie's song from The Nightmare Before Christmas and he leads the entire song! Also, the guard is Tony Wakim, a former member of the group, and is voiced by Eli (pronounced "Elly")

Voiceplay usually puts out one long video and a couple minis each month. They didn’t do that last month because both Geoff and Kathy had Covid. They did record one late, but are holding it for next month. They’ll be busy rehearsing for their Atlantic City concert with Chicago, Chicago and Friends. (It will be filmed and streamed later in the year).
They will still have a couple minis this month. One will be a ‘biggie’ mini for Halloween. That one will be about two minutes, and I hope you react to that one too. It’s SO good.
One last thing - when you do Halo, be sure to watch all the way through the outdo. You’ll learn so much about the history of Voiceplay and, perhaps more important, the kind of people they are.

It's like this was the way this song was always meant to sound. It's so freaking good!! ❤
For their videos, Geoff is usually double tracked on the bass line. Layne would be too busy with the beatboxing to take the bass. Though he could hit it, obviously (with his "Burn it!" in there, lol). The others can actually all hit some bass notes too. Not as deep as Geoff, but they can hold their own in those lower registers. These people are so talented, it's just unfair to the rest of us! ❤❤
And please don't miss Geoff's new drop, "Jack's Lament." It's straight up crazy!

Not 100% sure, but I'm betting the "guitar" was Cesar's voice distorted by some kind of filter; they did that for In The Air Tonight. The guard was voiced by Eli, but the person in the cloak was former VP member and PattyCake Productions co-owner Tony Wakim. (This video thus includes four generations of VoicePlay baritones--Layne, Tony, J.None and Cesar.)

    What's This
    Kidnap the Sandy Claws
Oogie Boogie Song (from Nightmare Before Christmas)
Geoff also just released his version of Jack's Lament from Nightmare Before Christmas too, definitely need to check it out. 🦇🎃🎃🎃🦇🦇🦇🎃

    Superstition
    Hide and Seek (Ding Dong)
    Phantom of the Opera
    Grim Grinning Ghosts
Once Upon a Dream (this one might be too scary, if your up for a challenge 🎃😈🦇)

Since Geoff arranges nearly half of VoicePlay’s songs/videos, if he wanted to be in the lead role more, then he would be. It should be noted that Geoff does get plenty of time to shine in his own wildly successful solo channel. Hence he probably doesn’t feel like he needs to be in the spotlight as much for VoicePlay’s productions.

Layne was doing bass in the beginning where there was no beatboxing, but later in the song it was Geoff double-tracked. Though technically every single one of the guys could do it if necessary to varying extents lol. Eli's done it live before, Cesar's played around with it in behind the scenes videos, and J.None is currently singing bass with his singing group in the navy. And yeah, Cesar was doing the electric guitar sounds too lol. These guys are nuts.

they do most of the work themselves, yes. what they don't do is steadycam (they cant be behind the camera and in front of it at the same time, lol.) although Layne has done steadycam for Geoff's solo work a couple times, so it's not that they lack the skill for it) and advanced makeup, and the final mixing is done by Ed Boyer. Other than that, every single part of the production process, arranging process and video process is all done by them. So if they're doing a videoshoot with a standing cam and no advanced makeup, the entire team literally consists of the people you see in front of the camera and Geoff's wife as production manager. they've never had a big label backing them (though they haven't lacked offers, they just turn them down to keep creative control) so the limited budget has forced them to learn all the necessary skills themselves.

Yes, at the beginning of the song it's Layne on bass, though in this line up I know Layne, J, Geoff and Eli can all sing bass and Eli can subharmonic. I'm not sure how low Cesar can go, but he's been working on his bass notes. "Who is this" was Tony Wakim, former VoicePlay member and co owner of Pattycake Productions. Geoff asked him to step in for that part, Tony could hardly refuse since he had just asked Geoff to do a part for Pattycake. lol This made four generations of baritones in this song. Fun fact: the original singer, Tony Jay, couldn't hit the final high note and asked composer Alan Menken to take it down. Alan said "NO" and made him take voice lessons until he could hit the note and sustain it. And here's Geoff, belting it and then saying "Nah, I'm going HIGHER!" I will never stop being amazed by his voice. Layne did this dark song justice with his arrangement. Cesar's air guitar made me have to pause and laugh, then go back and listen to it a few times.
