Its amazing how much shit glen gets talked about, but he doesnt seem like he bothers anyone. He probably just doesnt like people. And guys, i kinda get it
When I saw Deicide in 2014, I grabbed the setlist and Glen Benton signed it for me. Still have it! Seemed like a cool dude to me. And he was getting swarmed at that show
If you guys came across dudes like me and Dinkins at a show. You would definitely walk the other way. Not because we’re tough guys. But because there are way cooler people than us to talk to
People on this channel need to stop hating bands like fluids These are dudes make solid brutal dm. Who cares if they don’t know every subgenre or bands so what ?
My band opened for Deicide at Harpos in the 90s. A bunch of our friends, for whatever reason, decided to chant. Jesus loves you, Glen. Still makes me smile thinking about it. Lol
I don’t even think I’d bother him other then acknowledging him in passing, he’s legit seemingly really nice to everyone but I doubt he wants to know all of us shitheads personally
my first deicide show was 1995 houston The Abyss i was 15 and met the hoff bros out back, smoked a few J's and hung out with em, we watch the protestors at the back door trying to get glen to come out and he would just open the door and yell I FUkd your mother and then slam the door in there face abunch of times. the hoffmans said this happens all the time! lol memories..this show was the shit. deicide, crucifixion, imprecation, dark funeral and i cannot remember the opener it could have been mortality or prophecy. 🤘
The dawg’s most delusional & incorrect belief is that having money makes everyone happy & that everyone should be trying to earn and work as much as possible. But I love the music talk!!!
I get what you're saying but also from his perspective he earns his income doing shit he actually likes, working a job you hate just fucking blows forsure man.
You can't really blame Glen Benton for his disdain towards Deicide fans. At least he's keeping it real. The truth is most musicians (who have been around awhile) feel the same way.
No need for that. Dawg was seen selling grilled cheese sandwiches in the parking lot at every stop on the PANTERA reunion tour to pay his way to the next show. Now THAT'S a fan.
If I was a professional musician, I'd hate fans of my band too. They'll be the first to turn on you whether you sound the same or change. I don't care what musicians think of me. If your band is good I'll like it.
It’s crazy how many guys in bands don’t even listen to metal it was a huge disappointment when I found out some of the black metal bands I like those bozos were listening to weak ass techno I mean that kind of music takes no talent it’s just clicking buttons on a computer
I listen to brutal dm but it’s definitely not the only kinda music that I like there’s guilty pleasures like beach house and Clairo and cigarettes after s…A lot of ambient music 🎶 I can’t only listen to metal 24/7
@@Gutrot666 only thing I like besides metal is some punk occasionally I listen to dark ambient/dungeon synth but only for something to put on when sleeping at night lol
This isnt that weird. Gelal of GBK is obviously a fan of softer metal bands like Megadeth and Iron Maiden and it shows through the songwriting. I'd even say some of GBKs songs are straight up jazzy. Infernus of Gorgoroth has said (in the only audio interview of him available iirc) that he doesnt listen to black metal at home. Mostly 80s hair metal. The reality is, the kinds of music that certain musicians listen to in their spare time have good ways of influencing their styles and ensures some variety. That and listening exclusively to just one type of metal is just boring as fuck and can cause quick burn out.
Like you said, a lot of metalheads are annoying idiots. I met Glen and Steve in 2000 when I was 18 at my first Deicide show. Both were cool to me and my friend and signed my flyer. Shook Glen's hand. Spoke again with Steve after the show. He was again, super cool and gave me some tips on drumming. Didn't meet the brothers. I think I remember Glen stating a long time ago that he can get moody. Last interview I saw of him he seems to have mellowed out a lot. That's my experience. I wish I could have seen them in the early 90s. That was the pinnacle of death metal and will never be touched.
When I went to Milwaukee metal fest the hotel was two blocks from the Arena got luck he was in Vital Remains the band was checking in me and my saw he been drinking he yelled BIBLE BACHER THEY TRUN I SAID IM SORRY THE DUMMER THAT WAS FUNNY AS FUCK GLEN SAID U TO BE CAREFUL I SEE U AT THE SHOW ITWAs funny
I think he said he wanted to go. But he couldn’t due to him being a kid. And one of his relatives was talkin shit about that Satan band. So his parents said no.
Really feel this. Glenn didn't even responded to me when I was younger and came to him asking "wow you're Glen Benton Dude?" While I was drunk as hell. And that's what I would've done too. I'm more of a thrash black dude and I need to feel this hatred through the music AND the dudes have to incarnate this. If not, I miss half the energy of the band. That's why Deicide is one of the only death bands I listen to. Maybe if Glen had been nice and took a photo, he'd lost of his presence.
Saw Deicide last year and didn't see any attitude from the band. They played every great Deicide song. I hate those bands who can't stop yappin' in between songs. We're coming for the music and nothing else damnit!
I remember back in the day there was a rumor Jonathan Davis from korn hated his fans too Not sure where it came from though or maybe he was jerks to some of them on shows.
