I think you are the only video I can find on storing kohlrabi. Its so new to the recent generation, very few people have gotten to try its goodness. I had to harvest all mine to clear a bed due to flea beatles. After cooking them and recognizing their firmness, I assumed they could be blanched and frozen but didnt know how. Thanks for your video!!
I had never had them or heard of them before growing them in my garden now we all love them and it is another hearty plant to grow. Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed it!
Glad you made this video. I have used kohlrabi In curries…even with pressure cooker and they still hold their firmness. Good for substitute…for potatoes if avoiding nightshades..
@@countrysparkles just bagged 11 of them. . Nerver ate Kohlrabi this way. Really great. Always ate them raw sliced with salt or like an apple. Easy to grow easy to eat. Thanks again and god bless you.
Thank you for your video and help! My first time trying to store kohlrabi and didn't know what to do. I also appreciate the dish suggestions! You did a wonderful job in explaining everything clearly. :)
I grew up with Kohlrabi. They are very common in German stores and dishes. I cannot find them here in TN in the stores so I grow my own. I love eating them raw or just slightly cooked served with a light sauce. Yummy. Thanks for the video!
We had never had them before we started growing them either, my kids eat them like apples. 🤩 I will have to look up some German dishes to get more ideas of how to use them.

i bought one to try but did not have a chance to have it yet. thanx to your video i can store ir for nxt time. not sure whats the best way to eat it though as never cooked or had that before
Great video. I always freeze veg and fruit on trays first and then into bags so they don’t all stick together. Then I vac pac. That way they last ages and don’t get freezer burn 😄
@@countrysparkles saute with Garlic, onions, and leeks . Season salt and pepper. Use Knorr Chicken broth. (Round tub not Bouillon cubes) Put just enough chicken broth to cover kohlrabi. Once fork tender use immersion blender smooth, add a little heavy cream, then done. Ammmmmmaaazing!
Sometimes they can be woody but that more depends on if I have left it in the ground too long I feel like. If they grow big quick and I pick them then they are still yummy.
I'm the only one in my family that likes Kohlrabi so I grow a small patch for myself. I pull one, wash the root, peel the outer skin and while holding the root, I munch on the firm flesh. Yum.
