    UPDATED VIDEO ▶︎ th-cam.com/video/aHfx_QzGuVE/w-d-xo.html Sound and follow issues addressed. At 125g the drone doesn't need UK registration but to fly it you need an Operator ID from the CAA and display the ID Number on the body of the UAV. You also need to follow all laws and rules about where to fly regarding people and restricted airspace.

    • @mookyzook
      @mookyzook ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Another rubbish law. I have had a small 140g camera drone for years and suddenly it became necessary to have a operator ID and display the number on it. There's hardly enough room to put a number on it and there is already laws to cover invasions of privacy. So just because it carries a tiny camera this registraion is rubbish. By the way technically it's illegal to use it like you did because when it's behind you it's not in line of sight. Why is there no laws to stop you using moibile phone cameras on long selfie sticks I wonder?

    McTrail rider has a drone that takes great quality footage following him , I can’t remember the make but I’m sure it’s import only from the states.
    I think x1 seems fine for some extra footage, a useful tool for rear shooting, like a gimbal is for pass by shots .

    • @alwaysanotheradventure
      @alwaysanotheradventure  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The DJI mini 3 pro does great follow-me shots - front side and rear, at quite a distance too. This only works close. I’m not sure it would handle a bypass shot as you might be out of range when you start. I will do a video trying to use it for a real shoot.

    • @Allsystemsaredown
      @Allsystemsaredown ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think McTrail rider uses a Skydio 2. They seem to have great footage and track brilliantly, but are pretty expensive.

    • @alwaysanotheradventure
      @alwaysanotheradventure  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Allsystemsaredown The Skydio is a very different beast. I've been looking at it for ages. Their California factory shut during the pandemic and was slow to reopen, so their international sales didn't seem to happen. I couldn't get one in the UK and it seemed a risk, on something so expensive, to pay additional import duties if I had a friend buy and ship it over. The DJI mini 3 Pro seemed to take away the need for the Skydio, for me at least, but I'd still consider switching to one if they become available in the UK. Edinburgh Drones seems to be trying to bring them in.

  • @jdanorthwest
    @jdanorthwest ปีที่แล้ว

    Just curious ... when you put a camera on the ground and then do one of those ride-by shots how much extra time and miles do those shots add to your production? They're so common now that I find them a bit pedestrian and sometimes even annoying.

    • @alwaysanotheradventure
      @alwaysanotheradventure  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I try not to put them on the ground - although that’s a valid shot - I try to set them to one side. The result is similar to if I had a cameraman doing a static ( on-panning) shot. I’ve filmed a heck of a lot of runners and bikers like that. Sorry if you find them annoying.

    Hi It's me from the other video. During the 1st flight you were instructed to press the power button on the phone & the drone takes off & a few minutes later the drone just takes off from your hands without you pressing any button on the phone. All I want to know now is, how does it really take off? does it need a phone to be powered each time or the power button can be pressed on the drone for it to take off? Another thing is, if I have an Iphone wireless microphone with a lightening jack to capture audio, can I pair the phone to the drone to get good audio this way or how do you get good audio of you talking while the drone is in the air? will it record the audio through the Hoover/Iphone camera App or what? and lastly, I see it does the bird eye view mode but, can it do it while you're moving?

    • @alwaysanotheradventure
      @alwaysanotheradventure  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi again! Firstly, ignore this video because 1) it was my first flight out of the box and I hadn't even discovered the noise-cancelling trick, plus 2) the firmware has changed a lot.
      You don't need the phone. Two presses of the big button power up the drone. There's a small button too, and with each press you cycle through the pre-set flight options, settle on the one you want. One press of the big button sets it flying in whatever mode you left it. It stays powered on after the shot is complete.
      However, the phone connection is invaluable to change the details of the flight modes. How high you want the Birds-eye and whether it should rotate. How wide / high you want the orbit. And the most useful for me, the Dolly Track distance and height. This connection is bluetooth.
      Make a second connection using wifi (I just open the Album) and if the audio has been set to On, then that connection is established.
      The audio is recorded on your phone, not on the drone. The video is recorded on the drone. The audio is synced with the video when that video is downloaded to your phone over that wifi connection.
      So the quality of the audio depends on the quality of the mic you use, which can be wired or otherwise linked to your phone. I haven't tried a bluetooth mic for two reasons; wire is more reliable and better quality; bluetoothing the mic might affect the bluetooth to the drone.
      If you move out of shot while the orbit, hover or birds-eye are in progress the X1 won't re-centre on you and might get confused. This can look quite good with the Orbit as it swoops in close to you then moves away.

    Sure I had a comment on this video, but also wanted to ask how many batteries did you go through for filming this please ?

    • @alwaysanotheradventure
      @alwaysanotheradventure  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I shot this at three separate times so it's not the best to assess battery. Perhaps better is this video th-cam.com/video/aHfx_QzGuVE/w-d-xo.html which I approached as a proper video shoot. As I explain in the video, I emptied the two batteries which came with the X1 and I felt that was a little poor. But in mitigation, it was windy, and I suspect that draws more power. And secondly, I fluffed my pieces-to-camera and did several takes, which isn't something I'd do with a regular drone. I just kept finding different ways to shoot with this X1 until the battery as flat. For those reasons, it's too tricky for me to say "the battery lasts x minutes". BTW I haven't remove any comments Tom.

    • @englishcyclist
      @englishcyclist ปีที่แล้ว

  • @samm827
    @samm827 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does it automatically start recording the video once it turns on and starts flying or do you need to press a separate button to begin recording? And I imagine the videos are saved into the accompanying app, correct?

    • @alwaysanotheradventure
      @alwaysanotheradventure  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It starts at a set point in the flight mode chosen. So the Orbit - it flies, moves back the distance dialled in, then just before starting the move the red light comes on to show it’s recording. I’d like a little more overlap or pre-recording so there would be a hold at the start and end of each move.
      The video is recorded into the body of the X1 and after, downloaded to the phone App. Voice is recorded into the App and synced when the video joins it.

      I shot this pretty much as soon as I got it because I was going away (I’m on a trip now) so it might be I haven’t worked out how to do things it can do.
      Or it might be this early sample is more limited.
      You’ve identified a big one and then there’s the range - as it is it does stuff in a limited distance from you. The manual is not in a language I speak and getting detailed replies to questions like “how do I” is tricky over email. I will persevere with this because I’d like to use it as you suggest.

      It's a nice selfie follow drone. That noise reduction is amazing. Can it also remove my voice because I don't like to hear myself talk nor do others?
      The Tello can follow with the TelloMe app. But I really want GPS follow-me as well on a drone like this. Not just optical active-track. If programmed right!! Most programmers don't have a clue how it should work. My €130 LYZRC L109 Pro does everything perfectly. So it has nothing to do with the price. It's all in the app. Stays in compass position, I can use the sticks, will do a return-to-controller(phone) sop you don't have to race back like an idiot to where it took off. I wish the gimbal wasn't as shaky.
      And no I don't need obstacle avoidance. It's nice when it has it and even adjust its height following the terrain. But I was born with sensors in my head believe it or not.
      But maybe I should spend some more on a DJI Mini with Maven or Litchi? Wasted too much money on budget drones.
