Probably the best mic review I've seen today. Most other videos are filled with garbage ads, un-funny dialogue, obvious sponsorship, and un-skilled testing. Thank you for just getting straight to the point of the video.
Enjoyed your review video. First time watcher. I recently bought the E 100SX, new for $79.00. I like it better than the old brass grilled E-100 I had. That one used (2) 9V batteries and had a medium diaphragm. This new one is a Large diaphragm. I paid $300 for that one. So...I paid less than 1/3 that price, and received a better sounding mic. Better built in shock mount and no batteries needed. Lower self noise too. I recall 16db self noise with older model. Thanks...subbed and liked!
9v batteries?! That's crazy. I had no idea that's how the earlier models operated. Sounds like you're pretty happy with your upgrade. :) Thanks for watching and subbing!
Problem is it has a higher self noise than the E100s it replaced. For the price it was selling recently, it was great. But it's also a disappointment that the original msrp of $299 came with more than double the noise floor of the original.
Great review! Way to keep it unique! I’m so tired of seeing 55 guys on TH-cam doing the same reviews using the same mic’s, using the exact same techniques Cheers 🇨🇦✔️
I have an electronic se 2200 and I don't feel good with it, it can be heard clearly but it makes me feel cool sometimes on my voice, I also had an audio technica at2050. I felt better with him. I play Christian music, which microphone would be recommended for this musical genre?
The se2200 is a brighter mic than the at2050, so perhaps you're looking for something with a more neutral high end. Check out my video on the sE Electronics 4100 and T1. Those are very even, neutral mics. From this video you might like the CAD Audio E100Sx. It's not a bright as some of the other ones.
Hmm, I wonder if that's because I have the pop filter in front of SE2200. That would move me slightly further away from the mic than the others, reducing the proximity effect. i don't find the mic particularly thin compared to the others.
Great video. As a musician that is getting their first set up at home/desk. BUDGET BUDGET Which mic would you suggest I get? Preferably for vocals and other instruments, guitar, piano etc.
I would suggest the sE Electronics X1A. $100 or less, has a pad switch if you're recording louder instruments, built-in pop filter to reduce plosives (a little) on vocals. Sounds good too!
The AT2020 was one of the first USB condenser microphones, same as the Blue Yeti. The reason people like them is because they were the first to bring out affordable studio equipment for vocals. The best all round is the Rode SS and Rode USB for value.
@MatthewHaines USB is practically the same. it depends on pre-amps tech inside the microphone. The Rode NT-USB had great sound, pretty much the same as the regular Rode (XLR) version.
I'd say go with the best one you can afford. The mic is the beginning of your signal chain. If you're going to be adding effects and compressing the mics will sound different than when you test them in a store through busted headphones
I have reviewed a few USB mics, but I don't consider myself an expert on them. One mic that really stood out for me was the sE Electronics Neom. It is about $180 USD though...not really 'budget'. But a well-built, nice-sounding mic. I have not tried the Profile, sorry.
It's the Mackie DB-200 Mic Boom Arm and I highly recommend it. There's an affiliate link in the video notes if you care to use it. Thanks for watching!
It is crazy how much these people spend when they only get under 2k subs. Impressive. Ready to upgrade from this jlab. It soudns terrible when i move away but when im real close it souds good
Good luck with your upgrade! Mics do tend to sound better when you’re close though. Less background noise and room reflections, plus some bass boost with proximity effect.
Hi and thanks for your comment. Keep in mind this is the sE2200, not the 2300. Both mics are great for vocals. The 2200 is a bit more flat while the LA-220 is a little more 'scooped' (slight boost in lows and highs). I like how the LA-220 rejects plosives a little more, but that won't be a problem for either with pop filters and proper mic technique. If you're recording instruments as well, then the 2200 gives you pad options. The LA-220 gives you additional frequency sculpting. So...it depends! I'd be happy with either.
I reviewed all of these mics in the context of vocals or spoken word, so many of them might be suitable. It really comes down to your budget. The X1A and LA-220 are standouts in my opinion. The E100Sx if you like slightly darker sound.

Hi. That link doesn't work for me, so I'm not sure about the sound you're looking for. But here's a starting point: Universal Audio Volt 1 USB Audio Interface: $140 Mic choices: sE Electronics X1A (condenser) $100 CAD Audio Equitek E40 (condenser) $100 (although they've had some crazy flash sales recently) SE Electronic Dynacaster DCM3 (dynamic) $90 Zoom ZDM-1 (dynamic) $50 I haven't reviewed a lot of headphones, so I don't have an opinion. But that gives you plenty of cash left over to get what you like.

@skorpers compared to my previous E 100 Mic..it has almost half the noise ..so no issue there.
Anything under 20db self noise is good.

Depending on your budget, either the LA-220 or the X1A. If you've got a great pop filter and mic technique, also the SE2200.

@@kumareshhalder4214no, not necessarily. A good tune mic can impart a subtle character to your vocal recordings, but it’s not at all a requirement.
