    Great idea for a stand. Think I'm going to build me one of these since I live in an apartment and only cutting I need is wood that can be hand cut. :)

    Looks good. I have a HP Velotechnik Gecko with a Copenhagen wheel as I have a lumbar fracture and 8 extruded thoracic disks, and miraculously I can ride a recumbent without pain. I'm in 6-8 out of 10 level pain most of the time because I refuse to take the extended release morphine or fentanyl the pain specialist recommended. I need my mind working. I take low dose Norco, the same amount for 15 years, which knocks the pain down 25%. After years of no exercise but hand weights with my elbows on a table I tried a recumbent. I was literally "living" on my right side in bed till occasional trips out with my walker or scooter. I fly free of the prison my body had become when on my trike. Due to pandemic and my car being inoperable for a year I didn't ride. I just did and this stand is what I need to adjust things, but I rode again. I'm 66 and the time is now to save my own life and enjoy it again. Trust me, i have faced the idea of suicide so many times but I just can't give up, despite the physical and mental pain. We need to take care of those who sacrificed for us.

    Outstanding! I found the rollers in 3 inch for 3 bucks and change on Amazon!

    Thank you for sharing this excellent design. What is the purpose of the hook?

    Wow, I went to Home Depot and finally did find all the parts but it cost about $110.00 and it took 1 1/2 hours to get help to bring down the parts that had to be gotten by ladder. It looks solid and like it will last and considering I need to be able to do the work myself for lack of a bike shop and lack of money I think this will work. Amazon charged $4.99 each for the boat rollers but that's no big deal. The investment is worth it once.

    Very heavy using pipe material. I suggest using 2" aluminum square tubing then make your own connectors to attach the tubes to keep them in alignment and rigid . No welding needed. Thumbs up on your DIY spirit.

    You said measure the eTrike. From where to where? A shopping list would be nice.

    Looks good! I think I'll build one for my 700. Now paint it "Park Tools" blue and sell'em for $500 each. When someone asks "why so much?" just reply..."those dang microchips"!

    I can’t figure out the placement of the roller that’s in front of the back wheel. Seems it should be turned 90 degrees to support the main tube, but I’ve never built a stand like this. What was your reasoning for putting the roller “parallel” with the main tube? Also, I’ve searched several big boxes and can’t find the 1/2 to 1/4 reducer and the 1/4 inch pipe. Do you have a link you can suggest? Thanks for your help and for sharing your build with us.

      on a nonfolding trike it would be better to turn it, but on the Dumont, and the 559, where it folds there is a large under hump that fitts perfectly in it the way it is. the reducers are called bushing fit couplings, and the pipes big and small are called nipples, you'll want the black steel ones. Homedepot has them. that's where I got them. here is a link for the reducer www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-1-2-in-MIP-x-1-4-in-FIP-Brass-Bushing-Fitting-802639/207176802.

    Well thought out but how do you get the trike on the stand?. Wouldn't do my back any good to lift it onto the stand.

    • @ihoppoet
      @ihoppoet  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lift with your knees lol. But you can also use shorter pipe so you don’t have to lift as high.

      @@ihoppoet It's got me thinking. I'll invent a stand that will do it for me (unless you do it first) lol

    • @ihoppoet
      @ihoppoet  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@paul-hill I'm thinking maybe something like the same top set up, but with shorter pipes, mounted to a rolling motorcycle lift, you can roll it under the trike from the front, get it in place then jack it up.

    • @paul-hill
      @paul-hill 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ihoppoet I'm going to make it of wood and lay flat to start. Then pull up and over more than over the top to stop it collapsing back again.

    Great idea! I have bought all of the items that you showed and will be building it this week. What were the length of the 2x4’s? I have a Catrike 559. What pipe lengths did you end up with? What would you recommend for my trike? I will re watch your video and make a go at it. Thanks!

    what did you do with the hook I saw a cord or something hanging from the trike? Not sure how you fastened to the trike? or why. thanks for the video the stand looks great. did you lift the trike up or did you use something to horst it off the ground then put the stand under it? Thanks for doing this video and sharing it with us.

    • @ihoppoet
      @ihoppoet  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The hook attaches to a bungee cord that attaches to the front of the boom. The motor makes it rear heavy so the bungee helps with that.
