- Vivek Ramaswamy has spoken with Sky News Washington Correspondent Annelise Nielsen about the selection of JD Vance who was revealed as Donald Trump's running mate during the Republican National Convention.
Mr Ramaswamy, a former Republican presidential candidate, said JD Vance is an "outstanding pick" to be Donald Trump's running mate.
"I do think he's going to be an excellent Vice President," Mr Ramaswamy said.

Interestingly, JD Vance is married to a Hindu classmate at Yale Law, Usha, whose parents also immigrated from India. More interestingly, Vance's middle child is also named Vivek. Vivek Ramaswamy's surgeon wife, Apoorva, was studying at Yale Med while the Vances and Vivek were studying at Yale Law. Vivek and JD are same age and grew up in Cincinnati Ohio. Vivek is now based in Columbus, where his wife is throat surgeon at the cancer hospital of Ohio State University.

The fact is that Vivek is too independent minded and outspoken, and therefore would have clashed as VP with Trump, who is too egotistical and unpredictable. Vivek's ethnicity and religion could be unpalatable to Christian right and MAGA base of Trump. JD is a solid Christian family man, and has won a state wide senate seat. Vivek is absolutely brilliant and eloquent, but has to win the trust of Republican Christian right and win a major statewide election.

He might return to private business, but if he wants to stay in politics, he must succeed in a high-profile role and prove his electability. He was never electable as president during this cycle, and an intelligent guy like him must have known that going into his run, so what else was he seeking? He already has money, so it seems like he wants to do something more with his life. I wouldn't be surprised if he takes a role on the WH staff or Cabinet.

Vivek Ramaswamy is man of the highest intellect and capabilities. He is so well spoken and has one of those steel trap minds that never misses a beat. I wanted President Trump to select him for Vice President, but I understand that there are reasons he chose JD Vance and I trust his judgement.
