the song is cool and all but this is the least drip fit so far
here is the full video that explains
I can't wait 😃
You know I didn't expect to see the perspective of someone that passed away rather than the perspective of someone who is mourning a loss. "I didn't mean to haunt you" is literal. He is watching as his mother mourns and tries to move on, but is struggling to. This is amazingly produced and such clever writing. Full props to you Quad.
How do you know its his mother specifically
@TheNerdy Lad its shit.
@@kjfinch8866 Its cause it was his birthday and she bought candles and birthday cake to someone who doesn't even live anymore usually only parents go that far and it shows a mother in a lot of the clips as him as a child as well as he said you gave me something to believe in and its usually parents are the ones who give you a reason to live when your suicidal.
@TheNerdy Lad its shit.

Everybody getting these theories backwards. In this song it isn't about Quad missing his dead mother. It's about DEAD Quad missing his ALIVE mother.
The album is titled "I didn't mean to haunt you" and homie is legit dressed like a damn ghost. WAKE UP PEOPLE. It's a unique take on a song about losing a family member from a reversed perspective. The lines "I've been in so many tears... I've been in so many prayers... etc." It's literally about him having to witness people mourn his death while he's a ghost. And if that wasn't enough for you, he also says, "I got new birthday to celebrate" This is his birth into the afterlife, also referred to as rebirth by many. Still not enough for you? He deadass says, "I've been trying to unsee how you moved on from me." He's watching his mother move on from mourning his death.
The main chorus of "I wasn't born yesterday, I think you're goddamn lying" is about him watching his mother cope with his death and pretend she is okay. But Quadeca isn't stupid, he knows his mother is hurting and he knows that she is lying to herself and everyone else. This isn't me grasping at straws either he legit says, "You said it happened for a reason, I swear to God, I think you're goddamn lying". He knows that his mother isn't okay. But he still has to watch her mourn his death from the great beyond.
Wow. Didn't even realize that.
wow and he liked it
This theory is confirmed true, cool

I’m a 42 year old man. A single song has never broken me down as much as this has. Not only am I having a major pressure release in the form of crying but the absolute emotions this brought on so many levels has opened my eyes. I have never witnessed such creative honesty in an art form. I’ve never been so touched by something. Chills… tears… lyrical beauty and talent. A life change moment for me here.
It got me too when I heard it for the first time 😭😭 Quadeca astounds me
im sorry that was mean
I’m 31 and discovered Quadeca about a year ago, saw him in Cambridge, Massachusetts in June. I started crying at the end of this song and felt a little embarrassed, until I looked to my left and my right and both of the people looked back at me tearing up too, it was the fucking best 😅

@Lil Max I know you didn't ask me but I listened to on the low. It has a decent sinister sounding beat with a catchy chorus. The verses sound kinda like Joyner Lucas but with a unique spin. An improvement you could make is maybe some more beat progression rather than the chorus verse chorus setup but it is a very promising start to your career
Oh snap Quadeca’s came back as a Jedi, this bout to be good
i beg u post ur reaction to this masterpiece bro

Never been a Quadeca fanboy, fucked with his videos thought his music was okay/mediocre, but now. Now I am a Quadeca groupie this song is incredible, video amazing. No complaints pure magic. Finally a creator that has a valid excuse to being dormant for awhile. Well worth it. Bravo Bejamin bravo, and thank you for this.
@Lil Max No
It’s an awful song. It was intentionally stretched out over 6 minutes and made as experimental as possible, but more experimental doesn’t= better. The music video was very good, fantastically shot, but the song? Some decent lyrics, but some very poor ones. Interesting themes throughout as well, but there is just no cohesive elements to the track which lets it all down. It’s extremely messy and not in a way which improves the song. Take Kanye- Runaway for example, that’s a 9 minute track that uses up every second of its runtime. It’s different and unique but everything feels like one and it all needs to be there, this track doesn’t provide that same concept.
@@bailey3276 Literally nobody agrees with you. I think every second of this song is necessary. I genuinely have no idea where you’re coming from with that take. This is the very first negative comment I’ve seen out of thousands.
@@bailey3276 I was a fan of quadeca's work on his last album, and I 100% agree with you. The video is amazing, but this song is just not it.
@@themidastouch9853 Do they? The feedback seems mostly positive. If you’re going to call people dumb for liking the song, then fine, I have full license to say that you just didn’t get the song and you probably would’ve liked it if he was rapping really fast. Or maybe most people just have a different opinion from you?
On my third listen, this song is so good. The layers, the silent horror, the vocal shifts, the melody, the phone calls it’s just all too good. The lyrics have a deeper meaning then what said making them feel weighted. Good Job Quadeca
Ong bruh the first listen I kinda thought it’s alright but now my 5th listen it’s sooo good work of art

After having this song stuck in my head for almost a month now I think I've realized something about the song I didn't before. Quadeca didn't just die. He killed himself. He popped a vein and he made a wish. He made a dayplan that he should have delayed and he cut is wrists and dies, and now all he wants is out. He's seeing everyone's grief after his death and seeing how hard it's taken a toll on everyone but most importantly his mother. It gives this song an ever deeper layer of sadness cause it was Quadeca's actions that caused this and he has to witness everyone's pain after his loss. This has quickly grown to be my #1 favorite song of all 2022. Such an amazing song and music video. Can't wait for the album!
Nice interpretation.
We’ll probably get some more plot when the album comes out

From Dissing KSI to making an actual masterpiece. Crazy how that works isn't it.
Holly shit. I’m at a loss for words right now. The production is top tier, but that’s nothing new coming off of From Me To You, and what a chillingly beautiful introduction this was into I Didn’t Mean To Haunt You.

DANGGG that hits
One of the greatest pieces of music I've ever heard. My expectations were higher than they have been for anything ever and Quad STILL smashed them, blew them out the water. I'm tearing up.

This is genuinely one of the best music videos I've ever seen. I went to the desc. to see who directed it to check out their other work but lo and behold it was quadeca himself - even more impressive. Absolutely legendary, gonna have to rewatch this about 10 more times.
You’re a huge inspiration you have no idea, this song and video is insane
This song was amazing. You can hear his thoughts spiralling and the pain in his voice towards the start, trying to come to terms with it all, the disconnect between some of the melodies and the instrumental, mirroring the distance now between them. Then the moment he comes to terms with his emotions, realising how much he needed her, the laughing when she went away turns to crying, and the regret settles in. Truly one of the greatest artists and songs i’ve ever listened to. I’m excited to see more of your journey quad. It means so much to me and many others, thank you.
How did you explain this so well? That’s so accurate
breakup? it seems to me like his mother has died and the song is about him regretting not spending more time with her when she was alive, thus showing all the slips of quadeca as a child with her compared to him now without her, and using the tape film as a metaphor for life span idk tho.
@@mariocristiandociu4030 Thank you :). I’ve listened to him for years now and have tried to understand the hidden messages within his music. I’m glad you see them too!
@@InvictusFox It could also be that but I dont think anyone would laugh when their mom dies, thats more of a breakup reaction. Or it be both storylines of the girlfriend and mom honestly i got no idea. It is weird to have clips of childhood when talking about a girlfriend tho
@@InvictusFox maybe all that he has left is the film,representing the memories. The only thing that doesn’t fit is the lying part. It doesn’t really fit with your interpretation. So maybe the old tapes maybe just emphasised how much time has passed. The whole song is very complex and it doesn’t explain more than it needs to if at all tbh
That sample from the beatles is AMAZING, never thought anyone would use that song as a sample.

The Beatles For No One sample is so tasteful and makes so much sense for this track. Actually perfection.
the tape recorder is a symbol of his past and by the end of the song his past is literally trapping him and preventing his spirit from moving on
