    Billionaires that drive a Kia? They seem wise with their money.

    Stupendous effort and enormous amount of money and willingness to give back to society what we got from our forefathers even surpassed. Big amount of Thanksgiving and salutations to this beautiful couple.

    No mention of the state of Oregon? ALL beaches are owned by the people of the state, for everyone to access and enjoy.

    We all can do something in a big and in small scale. It is great to see people taking action where ever they are in life.

    The last words from the couple explaining the reasoning/rationale makes the act even more beautiful...we hear paintings/art being bought as 'investment' or status symbols for ridiculously huge sums by HNWIs & UHNWIs only to 'owned' & enjoyed by very few...as Jack beautifully put it, "this is a real painting you know?...and its a fraction of the price....to be able to buy this whole reserve for the price of one of these paintings...and it will be here forever.."...i hope their intent in going public with this succeeds & many more inspired 'copy-cats' spring up everywhere..

    God bless Jack and Laura Dangermond for their generosity and vision in saving this precious parcel of unspoiled land! As a Californian and father of two, I am deeply grateful to them for giving to The Nature Conservancy to leave this legacy to the world and to save so many rare and endangered species! I am more than delighted that my sons will be able to learn and perhaps visit this preserve some day!

    Good story but like the guy himself says - it's just a drop in the oceanic scale of the problem globally - and in a nutshell the root of the problem is shown a minute later in one clear juxtaposition - 50,000 homeless alongside a single couple with $5000 million - wealth inequality is the root of almost all problems.

    Thanks for this great video and message. I have heard about and know of Jack and Laura Dangremond and their wonderful gift they have provided however I have never seen this in-depth video and I loved it. If I had the means I would do the exact same thing. It is amazing that we have these wild nature spaces and places still in a world that has something like 8 billion people now. Thx

    Great to buy up and preserve such huge tracts of land to be preserved in untouched pristine condition, but oil extraction with oil rigs off the coast, although an eyesore on the seascape, is a necessary unavoidable industry, but should only be permitted subject to oil drilling and subsequent extraction being designed with backup safety measures that are meticulously policed by an independent body, which require that safe procedures always be adhered to, which includes the design of a zero-ocean contamination infrastructure, with things like emergency remote controlled sub ocean floor shutoff valves positioned such, that in the event of a submarine pipe rupture, oil spills of more than a few tens of gallons, will just not occur. And then oil floating anti-migration booms and spilt oil/water separation retrieval mechanisms be immediately on hand to deal with any minor residual oil escapes. These emergency remote controlled sub ocean floor shutoff valves need to be designed to have power fed to them to keep them open, so that in the event of a power failure, they are spring loaded to automatically turn off. It would be good to rescue many of these homeless people from the big cities, and equip them to look after the land so as to live in small communities on the land, where their group of dwellings/houses are designed and positioned such, that they unobtrusively and beautifully compliment the surrounding region, and if suitable appoint them to be Kaitiaki. Kaitiaki is a New Zealand term used for the Māori concept of guardianship, for the sky, the sea, and the land.

    great that it will be preserved, but the public can not even visit.. and meanwhile housing in CA is not affordable for anyone but the rich. Would be nice to at least visit, with rules of course.. to bad that none of us will ever even see it. thanks, billionaires.

    • @mc1rgene751
      @mc1rgene751 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is a very good reason why humans are going to visit...Human always end up destroying beautiful places by loving them to death. That want to perverse the land as wild and left alone, I see nothing wrong with that. They could have purchased the land and either lived there (no public access either) or sold it off piece by piece to developers. Some places need to be saved from average human stupidity.

      stevebbuk Those bikers would not on the perverse that were in a near by town and public beach. Thankfully the perverse is not open to humans.
