This guy should be known and admired throughout the world. What a true Christian.
Why limit him to a restrictive religious label. He gave his life for his friends. Jesus said that act made you the greatest amongst man. Bonhoeffer was a great man. No subsidiary label is needed.
Some truly stood up, and went toward the danger to stop it! God Bless.

Much love, respect and admiration for this incredible man of GOD, whose faith never wavered regardless of his circumstances. His life is still touching other hearts and lives many years later, my own included. It will be a great honor to meet him in Heaven.

Who am I? They often tell me
I stepped from my cells confinement
Calmly, cheerfully, firmly,
Like a Squire from his country house.
Who am I? They often tell me
I used to speak to my warders

Who am I? They also tell me
I bore the days of misfortune
Equably, smilingly, proudly,

Am I then really that which other men tell of?
Or am I only what I myself know of myself?
Restless and longing and sick, like a bird in a cage,
Struggling for breath, as though hands were compressing my throat,
Yearning for colors, for flowers, for the voices of birds,
Thirsting for words of kindness, for neighborliness,
Tossing in expectations of great events,
Powerlessly trembling for friends at an infinite distance,
Weary and empty at praying, at thinking, at making,

Who am I? This or the Other?
Am I one person today and tomorrow another?
Am I both at once? A hypocrite before others,

Excellent documentary. This should encourage us to always do what is right even when it is not popular to do so. Bonhoeffer demonstrated what it truly means to follow Jesus Christ.

Bonhoeffer was a human being in the best sense before he was anything else.

The story of Bonhoeffer's family & their commitment to serving the News should be required reading/study by all true Christians. Where are the biblical leaders today in 2021 who are willing to serve the people & our Lord by laying down their careers & life to save the most vulnerable? Perhaps God has removed the genuine pastors & theologians because we Americans have no time nor interest in the Truth.
The women pastors and theologians were silenced. Satan laughed. The women still. Look for the footsteps of Jesus and follow Him in feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting orphans and widows and proclaiming the gospel. Unlike the men, they do not set up denominations where they take money and demand submission from others.

Jesus said, “I came not to bring peace but a sword.” The sword is the truth and truth cannot be sacrificed for peace otherwise it is not the gospel of Christ.
So important for today's global children to know & comprehend. Some, like today's Republicans, will learn to emulate the Persecutors. But others will see the the tragedy that we too are facing and must stand strong against homegrown radical terrorists.
Sadly, there will always be MAGAts, (as opposed to ‘rino,’ who think for themselves) who allow ‘the party’ to dictate their thoughts, words, deeds.

He was German & raised in a different time in history, when fear was used as a weapon, & death was a reality for anyone. America is a very young country.
USA does have its exceptional "true Christian people".
M Luther King Jr was one such true Christian person who championed the outcasts.
Most USA charismatic evangelicals are like the captive preachers who look to hypocrites like Trump or Biden or Jimmy Swaggart.
