  • I just bought an off grid allotment & cottage near my flat, and I'm very much looking forward to be able to spend more time in nature hear and try living off grid and still make this place as livable as possible. This is a first look of the cottage and the little garden, and I will be sharing more about the progress soon!

Looks like a nice place overall. You will enjoy it very much when it's warmer I imagine.

No wood stove for Winter? Or do you only go in Summers? Cool place, Cheers from San Diego

Hey! The facilities like water and dry toilet are open from 1 April to 1 October. The little gas heater should do the trick. It's however allowed to install a stove if I want to at some point but it's unlikely I would do it. :)

Is an Allotment similar to the German Schrebergarten?

Yes! It's the same kind of system! It's very nice to have this :)

I'm a bit puzzled. What is an allotment? Is it similar to a rent or lease?

So i should be explaining that. It's a combo! You rent the plot of land (very very cheap) and buy the little cottage from the previous owner. :)
It's very common in Europe and in Sweden it's become super popular the last few years so it's sometimes as expensive as buying a regular summer house...
