Laura, this is the only stuffing I make! I love it so much. I've been making it for years. I could just eat it all by itself with some gravy! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
This is the BEST dressing! I've made it several times now and love this recipe. Taking it to Thanksgiving again this year by request and making a batch to leave at home.
I'm going to be making a lot of your recipes for Thanksgiving and well, everyday as long as I can 😅😊 I love your recipes and appreciate you sharing them with me and my family. Blessings and Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Laura and family ❤
I think nearly every family has its own special stuffing recipe (not everyone adds meat). We also call it dressing. I know one lady who puts boiled eggs in her stuffing. Sausage stuffing is awfully good, I have to say, although at home we don't usually make it that way. In our family I bake three or four loaves of bread, cube it, and dry it before the big day. I hand it to my genius sister, and she does some magical thing with herbs, onions, and celery. We always make a big pan or two of dressing, as well as (sometimes) stuffing the turkey. Since I'm "talking turkey," my dear friend, Laurel, told me the best way to bake a turkey. Stuff the inside with cut up onions, celery, and fruit. You can even use old wrinkled fruits and floppy celery. The best turkey I ever ate she filled with cut-up oranges, maybe some apples, and celery and onion. It flavored the turkey meat amazingly. She told me to discard the veggies afterwards because they might not have been baked thoroughly enough to kill all the germs inside, which is a problem some people have when baking a big ol' turkey stuffed with dressing. Sometimes the dressing isn't cooked completely through. Stuffing is really popular here. For decades now, in the US, there has been a product called stove top stuffing. You can make a small pan of stuffing, and serve it with whatever meal you like.
It’s not a favorite because although I LOVE fennel, it’s overpowering and not a flavor most people love and it will make the whole thing taste like fennel
Looks delicious but I am not a fan, neither is my stomach LOL of sausage so can you recommend something else in place or it just needs the sausage? Thanks
i have never understood why its called stuffing if its not cooked in the bird? my wife is american and makes it out of bird as well. yes its tasty, no complaints there, but stuffing?
it's just the type of dish, yes stuffed in the turkey is technically stuffing and out of the turkey it's dressing but nobody calls it that around here.

Can this be prepped the day before or hours before and refrigerated before baking? Will that ruin the texture?

Question from Europe: Why do you serve stuffing with meat in it when it is served along the turkey?
I think nearly every family has its own special stuffing recipe (not everyone adds meat). We also call it dressing. I know one lady who puts boiled eggs in her stuffing.
Sausage stuffing is awfully good, I have to say, although at home we don't usually make it that way.

Stuffing can be served with the turkey but many people (likely the majority) serve it as a side dish.
What are you thoughts using fennel along with the onion and celery?
It’s not a favorite because although I LOVE fennel, it’s overpowering and not a flavor most people love and it will make the whole thing taste like fennel
Look super delicious (and I’m not usually a stuffing fan)…what’s your go-to olive oil Laura? Do you always use Italian? ❤️
Usually yes! But I have to say you can get really great olive oil from California, Spain, Greece, tons of places!
@ Thanks Laura 👍
I’m going to try this. I wanted something different this year. I usually use cornbread.
Oh you’re gonna love it!!
Laura's sausage stuffing is the only stuffing you will ever make again!
This is about the same as ours but my mom adds cut up apples. Yum!!
Oh I love that!!
Great video!😸
Great video Laura😊😊
Yay!! Thank you!!
You are SO welcome!
Printed the recipe...thank you!
You're welcome!
Hi Laura my husband doesn’t like sausage can I use anything else
Plain ground pork maybe?
Looks delicious but I am not a fan, neither is my stomach LOL of sausage so can you recommend something else in place or it just needs the sausage? Thanks
Maybe you could try not putting any meat in it at all if you’ll be eating it with turkey.
You can definitely try other proteins or skip the protein and add mushrooms!
Deliscious!!!!
Che bella cosa.
i have never understood why its called stuffing if its not cooked in the bird? my wife is american and makes it out of bird as well. yes its tasty, no complaints there, but stuffing?
I want to know the answer as well
I’m from Kentucky and we call it dressing 🤷♀️ not sure the difference lol
it's just the type of dish, yes stuffed in the turkey is technically stuffing and out of the turkey it's dressing but nobody calls it that around here.
I make a very similar stuffing but I add Courtland apples as well!
Stuffing must cook in the turkey, it just taste better.
Why in the world would you call it stuffing when you never stuff it in the bird. That's the only good stuffing.
stuffing goes in the bird.... dressing is cooked out of the bird
I add apples to my stuffing and sometimes chestnuts to my stuffing.
