All this is pretty cool. But what do I do if I want the collider to be a rigid shape, that is not pre animated/keyed but to interact with the the particle source. To give you an example: A rigid coffee Bean falling into a mountain of coffee grind Rolling off and being affected if that makes sense. I tried with two Vellums with a shapematch as the rigid object but it doesnt quite work
To simulate solid objects you can start with the rubber, concrete or metal preset on the mpmsource. You can also instance the coffee grains on each mpm points using the deformation gradient F to drive the orientation of each grain. Create a "MPM Configure Sand Instances" at SOP level for an example on how to do this.
hi, i downlaoded file to have a look at the avalanche setup. I cache the high res mountain, but nothing happens on the mpm solver, it is static. the snow doesn't fall if I play it. I tried caching the 400 frames but it just has a random frame stuck for all 400. any advice?
Thanks for putting this together! 🙏
Welcome - sidefx makes impressive art and software

So you need help on the coffee mountain good morning grind sequence with mpm solver? If yes - let me know
@@IDAVFX Yea. I wanted to post a imgur link to show you what i mean but its automatically removing the comment

Hey Bret I will have a look into it
ok had an issue with the cache setup, managed to get working
@@BrettMcM awesome you made it work - the scene files are all very well structured and you mostly need to follow the node flow to find a bug. :)
Is the tornado file(custom forces dive target) available?
We have a tornado yes but do you mean the one with mpm?
@@IDAVFX yeah the mpm one, I'm running into issues sourcing vel

Hi, can I download your Samplescene for testing?
Sure download
Where? PATREON?
@@petermohlmann5157 no here :) www.sidefx.com/contentlibrary/download/mpm-example-files/138/
Oh thank you. Will try it tomorrow
Mpm advanced samples are very slow eg icecream took 7 min per frames. What is your hardware config with graphic card and what is your frame rate?
I wonder how much a rtx graphic card would speed mpm..
a lot
