There is a nice sci-fi book from Soviet authors Strugatsky brothers called "The land of crimson clouds". Worth reading. That is if it was translated to other languages...

I love having Seeker+ back, Julian is the perfect host for it. Would love to hear more Space Science, because I love Space. Julian you are the best, hope to see you doing your thing for many more years to come. You've come a far way since your first days at Dnews.

Venus has always been a fascinating planet to me, it’s very similar is size to the earth and due to its dense cloud cover is way more mysterious. There’s so much more to discover about what it’s like on the surface; unfortunately it’s damn hard to do much of anything on it due to it being so hostile to technology

I don't understand. We've known that Venus is closer to the Sun than Earth for hundreds of years, so wouldn't the logical presumption be that it's hotter there? Like way hotter? And so how could it be a paradise?

At one point doctors with the most blood on their coats meant they were better doctors. They wouldn't clean em. They boasted it
We know now of diseases. Crazy huh

My kids and I loved reading the Cyberiad at bedtime when they were young. Interesting things to think and talk about.

I don't really like the whole "hellscape" thing and calling Venus a "terrible" place. It uses words with connotations of good and evil where they don't belong. Venus is simply a planet whose surface conditions are not conducive to life.

I get it, but I guess it's because it's so inhospitable to life right, heat, burning, no air etc etc..
I guess if earth is good and Venus is the opposite then its bad etc etc?
But I get what you're saying.

It’s exactly what i imagine the biblical hell to look like, so i find this description quite fitting.

There is something absolutely hilarious about the fact it was once thought to be paradise just for it to be the literal definition of hell. Good thing no one was trying to sell timeshares on Venus prematurely 🤣

I see that I anticipated you; no magnetic field. As to why the solar wind does not strip away Venus's atmosphere as it does Mars's, I suppose research is still ongoing.

I don't really support visiting Venus again just "cuz curiosity".
There's A LOT more reasons to hit up Mars more with the recent uptick in interests to colonize the place.
and Europa still holds a good deal of chance of supporting life in it's oceans.
there's actually legit interests to be investigated.
Not some hellscape that *barely* helps us increase our understanding of greenhouse effects since the *theorized* reasons it went so bonkers are *all* FAR removed from our own troubles.
    "no but it's aplicable"
yeah sure, if we didn't change, ramped up by 10.000% and kept it up for a bloody MILLION years at the very very least.
    *mocking voice* soooooo aplicable.
don't waste budget on a place that barely holds any legit interests and focus on the bigger things.
I'm not saying NEVER visit it again. i'm saying "it can wait a bit longer, there is no rush in getting this obscure data & info"
