Seriously!! I started this while doing the dishes and my 6 year old walked into the room and we paused the vid so she could just stare in awe at their makeup! The skill! The risk! The mother freaking drama of it all! I love it!!

So Happy I Could Die is the fear of drinking,
Teeth is the fear of the truth (which is why its last).
These are meant to mirror the themes present in The Fame but showing their darkest extremes.

My 87 yr old father who died in 2022 absolutely loved Lady Gaga. He suffered from dementia the last year of his life and he was convinced he was friends with Gaga and met her through Tony Bennet.

My favorite Lady Gaga moment... Watching Johnny Weir ice skate to "Poker Face". He worked that song beautifully, with both grace and sass.
I was on my feet in pure joy watching that!
I remember my daughter (whenever Just Dance came out) who was like 11 or so at the time made me listen to it first and then I heard it in the club and asked my friends if I should be worried that my kid introduced her to me first 😂
My daughter is now 27 and to this day still introduces me to new music.
I hate hate HATE Gagas current career but i have to say that even though Cheek To Cheek was a weird pivot in her discography at the time I'm so glad she made it. She had a once in a lifetime opportunity to work with a living legend and introduced her young fanbase to an older genre in which she absolutely shinned!

I’m not a super fan, but I have always loved Gaga. You guys have inspired me to go listen to her musical transformation from the beginning.
It was Bad Romance for me. I used to watch the music video on repeat. I then somehow talked my mom into letting me skip school during my senior year of high school and take me to NYC (I'm from VA) to see the Monster Ball tour at Madison Square Garden. I literally created a PowerPoint presentation. 😂 It was my first solo concert. My mom dropped me off before the concert and picked me up afterwards. I remember her singing You and I and everyone losing their shit.

It sounds crazy but Lady Gaga saved my life. I was in such a dark, bad place, and she’s what kept me going and gave me the courage after Born This Way to come out to my family and friends.

This episode taught me to reconsider Gaga as an artist because unfairly I limited my reception to the first album (grew up when you did so didn't realize that her approach was manufactured to get famous and that there apparently is so much depth to her music) so thanks for sharing your insight, why she as an influence to you and especially the LGBT community was so brave and mattered, and to experience joy and appreciation through artists or inspiration sources that matter to you - hope we'll continue to see more deep dives on different topics/figures/your insights in general going forward

omg, yall were in high school during the Born this Way era? My memory of that time was college, SO many baby gays coming from small towns, getting to be out AND in community for the first time. Me and my friends weren't that much older, but lordt, we took them to the Equality March that Gaga spoke at. I don't think I felt so old and so young at the same time. I became a fan because I saw how much she meant to yall--and being banging dance music, of course. Fantastic episode, loves! Worth staying up late for.
I became a fan of lady gaga because my friend Abby got the Fame album cd (I wanna say she was 9 and I was 8 years old) and I remembered us both dancing and going crazy in her room for hours.

Side bar I was 16 in 08 when she dropped and I was a fan then I saw her in concert in 2010 and I fell in LOVE! Monster is still my favorite Gaga song.

I was one of the ones who asked about her fibromyalgia, not thinking you knew her doctors orders (obviously), but hoping you could share anything that she has said about it in interviews. So many of us asked likely because so many of us suffer from it. It wasn't cool for you to be so dismissive IMO.

It annoys me when celebs just randomly decide to switch genres to be “different” especially country (Beyoncé and Lana both coming out with country). I really miss her old sound too and I’m hoping she’ll go back to The Fame Monster or BTW type music.

Marry the Night was the moment I knew what had happened with her SA. You could literally see it in everything in that music video. It was a while before she talked about it but a lot of people I’ve talked to independently have mentioned how we knew as soon as we watched it. Broke my heart.
I am old enough to remember watching Sonny and Cher and I was in junior high when Madonna became popular. She was a revelation - no one like her at the time. The fact that she was a dancer and a club kid before becoming a singer made her an entertainer on a different scale. So fun watching you both talk about Lady Gaga the way we felt about Madonna. Memories. 😂💖

Just dance was my club day anthems when it came out my ex friend and I felt like she wrote our life haha. I saw her in concert for the monster ball and that's when I fell in love with her. Omg heavy metal lover is my favorite and so is electric chapel!! Born this way is my favorite album.
