This is facts! I would love to assemble a dream team of animators and creators and have them make an anime. The final result would be so epic! Haha, thank you for watching!
@@DrewMalouBtw I'm 25 minutes in to the video and unless you really screw the pooch in the last 10 minutes, this is easily your Magnum Opus Edit: you didn't. That ultimate one was insanely good
I believe this guys inspirations come from a perfect blend of 3 places. - Earrape memes for obvious reasons - Electronic music for the punchy bass and kick-like sound effects - Massive industrial accident LiveLeak videos for their shocking, nasty, gritty dissonant tones (especially the last one)
When I first watched slime I definitely noticed the insane sound effects. Then for later shows I noticed them doing the same thing and thought "they're copying slime!" only to realize now that it was the same dude all along, mad respect for the range and different origins (a lot of punches sound like cannons or guns) he incorporates for those sound effects
Yes!! I thought something similar, although I saw Fire Force first, and thought the same thing. And yes, I wanted to talk about Koyama's "Gun-Punch" but was running low on time. I'm sure I'll do more videos about him in the future though, haha.
After hearing some of these that I'd never heard before, I was practically vibrating. I told my brother to listen and his mouth was agape the whole time. We were both vibrating by the end
I actually LOVE this kind of sounds effects and have been looking for animes with this type of sound, but I didn't know it was the same guy in all of them, I thought it was more like a trend? Hahahaha, loved his work in fireforce and SAO, thank you, I will pick up one of the animes on his list rn lol, good video
I'm glad you love them! I really enjoy these sound effects as well. And that's awesome that you thought it was a trend! That just goes to show how prevalent his sound design has become. And if you would want my recommendation, I would say that you can't go wrong with Re:CREATORS! Definitely was a 10/10 for me. 86 and the entire Fate series are really good too! Thanks for watching!
Man... You have to stop... Everytime i watch one of your videos i end up doubling my must-watch anime list, and i can't keep up anymore😅😅... Every video is pure hype. EVERY. SINGLE.TIME.
Hahaha, heck yeah!! I'm sorry I keep increasing your watch list, lol. I'm so glad you liked this one, though. And you are too kind! Thank you so much for the watching, and for the continued support!!
19:22 I like how he just decides to use metal pipe dropping on the ground meme for Gus' attack, which funnily he use Bruh sound effect for Fireforce so who knows how much meme is this guy secretly using
Thank you so much bro! So glad to hear you liked it. And SHEEEEEEESH, you're channel has BLOWN up!! Congrats dude!! That's it, I'm going to start making shorts.
I'm not sure if this is the most apt analogy, but, Koyama's use of audio distortion reminds of a filmmakers use of lens flare. Lens flares and audio distortions are artifacts created by the device used to either record or playback the media. They both add a very distinct stylistic flair. Distorting the audio seems like it flies in the face of how your supposed to professionally engineer audio. I personally can't think of crunchy or distorted audio being used for foley sounds outside of shortform meme/hype videos. I personally love it.
That's a great example! Koyama's sound effects make me think of J.J. Abrams' use of lens flares in the first Star Trek film, looool. Those flares were going crazy.
It's about time someone made a video essay on this unsung hero of sound design. His products always have a cinematic feel that makes even normal anime battles feel larger than life.
Gotta get the Ufotable + Cloverworks compositing, Mob production, Koyama sounds, Sawano music and Yutaka animation. Heck even Murata drawings if we can.
i gotta thank you for repeating gil's enuma elish attack again after showing it once, man i love the sfx so much, i just genuinely listen to sfx every once in a while gaming cuz why not
Bro, I regret missing this video. Thank you for your work in gathering so many sound clips to share. I think your video deserves more views. Thanks again for your video.
Similar to what you he about matching the meaning instead of the visuals, I've always been in love with the *personality* he can convey with sound effects, especially the more subtle ones. Like how King Crimson makes these animal snarl and screeching sounds at times, it sets that image of the very strange, unhinged person it's user Diavolo is- even though his stand doesn't involve animals or anything, it never feels out of place.
It's weird, after getting and knowing what sound library Koyama uses everytime i watch a show he worked on and there's a sound effect i recognise i always go "oh hey i know that sound effect! I have it! :0".
Haha, that's awesome! I have seen a few lists of the libraries he uses, but which ones do you have, and where did you get them from? It would be super cool to go through them and compare that with his finished work! Oh, and thanks for watching!
@@DrewMalouLet's just say i got it from a group of passionate sound designers which is exactly what we are, if we really wanna get to the raw meat of this you look at this man @PassioneSound (I can't send you his channel link because TH-cam) him and a bunch of others got together and made a discord sharing the raw sound libraries that Koyama uses, Feel free to look around man i'll help ya if you need something.
Whaaaaaat, no Konosuba?!? xD Great great video!! I’m so happy to find others who are as nerdy about Koyama as I am. You should definitely check out his work on Konosuba, especially the movie; I’ve yet to find a better surround mix that tops that movie. Will come back to this video often, thanks a lot! 🙏
I know, it still blows my mind that he has done the sound effects for so many shows. Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm so glad you enjoyed my video! 😄
Omg this video give me a heavy nostalgia bcus u also included some of a gem anime in this video well since Koyama also work on those anime. Been following u since ur first fire force video. Keep it up bro
Heck yeah!! Shout out to the Fire Force videos, haha. Thank you for the long time support! I appreciate, it and I'm glad you liked this video as well. Thank you for watching!
Haha, well thank you very much! I'm so glad you think so. It just means that I get to connect more closely with the audience that I do have. 😁 Thank you for the kind words, and for watching!
Man, this video made me appreciate Yasumasa Koyama even more, as I hadn't fully realized just how inventive and unique his approach to the game was! It definitely feels like whatever he works on has to be good, or maybe that's just his sound work elevating anime that might be okay to great! Thanks for another great video, Drew!
Thank you for the kind words, Henry! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. And yeah, I'm not sure if it's Koyama that elevates the shows that he works on, or if he just gets hired to work on the good ones, or if it's a combination of both, but either way, he does some amazing work! Thank you so much for watching!
@@DrewMalou Absolutely, it's only the truth! I would wager it's some combination of both, as I could very well see it being that his sound design has been praised, which leads him to being hired onto big, upcoming anime, which then causes him to receive more praise, and the cycle repeats! I could be wrong about that, but I hope that's how it all works out!
Yeah! I know what you mean. I had no idea he worked on so many shows that I enjoyed until I started studying him. His portfolio is crazy! Haha. Anyways, thanks for watching!
that attack at 30:42 is the most eargasmic, most ear splitting sound i have ever heard, i can like imagine a laser splitting through a decepticon or something
@@DrewMalou I found the soundeffect. It comes from Cinematic Metal - Titan (BOOMLibrary). It is a processed hit sound effect called "shockwave". Furinan Out.
I scrolled back like 5 times to hear Ea's final blow, and when I've decided to move on, you guys just offer us to hear it again, and I'm stuck in an endless eargasm :))))
Bahaha yes! I was wondering if anyone would do that, lol. You have no idea how many times I listened to that sound effect while making this video.... but it was a lot. Thanks for watching!
It's funny, I remember Fate Grand Order ADF:B being mostly forgettable story wise but the sounds stuck with me more than anything. Those beefy bass hits always struck home.
Interesting! I'm not sure if it was the setting, or the characters, or the sound design, but that's one of the Fate series that has stuck with me the most, lol. I loved ever second of it, and thought that it got better the longer it went on and the more I watched, which is a pretty rare feat these days.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked it. And yes!! The OST for Re:CREATORS is peak, and Hiroyuki Sawano is incredible! Definitely need to do a video about all of his work in the anime industry, haha. Thanks for watching!
22:20 Same. Having never watched Fate, this just seems like these characters are _the_ most powerful in the universe. Perhaps they aren't _supposed_ to be?
Haha, they're definitely some of the strongest, but I think the problem with Fate/Apocrypha is that _everyone_ kind of sounds like that, lol. There's not much to differentiate the characters in terms of sound design.
@@DrewMalou It's crazy to find out that he works on F/ Strange Fake as well cause if you think that Apocrypha was full of OP characters then SF takes that to 1,000.
Liked and subscribed! I'm doing research on anime sound design for a panel at Anime USA, and I was looking for examples of contemporary Japanese sound designers when your video came up. I needed an example to complete the trifecta between the eras of early (Matsuo Ohno/Astro Boy), classic (Akihiko Matsuda/Gundam) and modern anime sound design. I'll definitely be pointing my audience to your channel in the bibliography.
a sound effect and anime that you should watch is no game no life zero (prequel movie to no game no life) and the Fate Grand Order Solomon movie. The sound effects are also from koyama. They are great movies. :)
Really interesting topic! As some other comments pointed out, I thought this was a trend or something. 20:56 Since the sound effects Koyama does are very intense they probably stand out when combined with (compared to season 1) not so amazing animation? So people focused on them. Also! I thought Youjo Senki would be mentioned, the sound effects there seems similar imo. They definitely stood out when I frst watched it.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! And yes, I think you're right about OPM season 2. Those sound effects definitely stand out, especially in contrast with the first season. And Koyama did do the sound effects for Youjo Senki, I just personally haven't watched it yet, so I'm unfamiliar with the show. I've heard great things about it, though! Thank you for watching!
Machine Gun Blows, Genos vs Garou. Basically seconds before the explosion. Thats a great effect too. Actually that entire scene is great, especially when Bang is beating the living fluff out of Garou.

Fate is such an underrated anime Sure the lore is….. complicated and that’s an understatement But the raw power of these characters are nothing to scoff at plus the story is so good Also Reminder Tiamat completely lacks the concept of death yes Gilgamesh landed the final blow but it was thanks to Hassan that the attack even hurt her because Hassan hit her WITH THE LITERAL CONCEPT OF DEATH ITSELF IN THE FORM OF HIS NOBLE PHANTASM AZRAEL Not only that but he decided to say some of the coldest fucking lines I’ve ever heard in fate
Was looking forward to seeing more comments about what people listened on but didn't see many. I'm listening on airpod pro 2's and they cannot handle the nuance of the bassier parts at all
@@DrewMalou no problem, also i am fine with some fanservice as long as it is done in a more tasteful manner and/or a different genre of anime for example
Definitely! I recommend checking out the TH-cam channel of @jojosbizarresounddesign6639 He has some resources and examples of Koyama's sound design from JJBA that should give you a pretty good idea of what's going on, and then it's just a matter of finding some tutorials for how to duplicate, and make your own sound design choices from there!
Hmmmm... not off the top of my head. There are a few that re-do the sound effects for certain anime in another anime's style, but I don't know of any channels that do compilations. They might exist, I just don't know of them, sorry! Oh, and thanks for watching!

Hey, sorry it took me so long to respond! I normally put the sources I use for my videos in the description, but I must have forgotten to do that for this video. Here was the original reddit thread where I found someone who posted the link. www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/13a0xjj/the_elusive_sound_designer_yasumasa_koyama/ Sorry that's a bit disappointing, but luckily, I copy/pasted the interview (I believe it's the full thing) into my script notes, and used an online translator to convert from Japanese to English. It's not perfect, but it's better than nothing. Thank you for watching, and inquiring. Here it is! YASUMASA KOYAMA INTERVIEW: INTERVIEW TRANSLATED: The most important sound effect is to guide the audience's eyes --The anime "Tensei Takera De Slyme Nadatta Koto" went on the air in October 2018. Soon it will be the third anniversary of its airing. What was your initial impression of this work, "Tenshûra"? Koyama:I started working on this work at a time when "reincarnation" anime was not as mainstream as it is today, so I thought it was an unusual work at the time. In the past, the main character would grow stronger through hardship, but in "Tenshûra" there is almost no such depiction. I thought it was very interesting that the story progressed in a stress-free manner. --What was your concept in creating the sound effects for "Tensura"? Koyama: Since this is an entertainment work, I tried to make the loud parts loud and the sound pleasant. I tried not to limit my ideas too much. For example, when the magic circle is unfolding, I had a scientific image in the visuals, so I added mechanical sounds. We try not to be bound by rules such as, "This is a fantasy work, so there can be no mechanical sounds. --So, you are adding sounds in a way that is easy to understand as a so-called entertainment work. Koyama: Yes, that's right. It is a success story of Rimuru, and there is a lot of action in the story, so we added sound effects to the camera work and other sounds to increase the overall tempo. --So you sometimes add sound effects to the camera work as well? Since "Tensura" has action scenes and a large army, there are going to be a lot of sound effects. Koyama:If we add sound to everything, the volume will just be too loud for the audience's TV (stereo 2ch) viewing environment. The most important thing about sound effects is to guide the customer's line of sight. --What exactly do you do at ...... to guide the viewer's line of sight? Koyama: For example, let's say there is an image of the main characters coming from the back while the mob (crowd) is in the foreground. In this case, we would not add sound effects for the footsteps of the mob in the foreground, but would add sound effects for the main characters to draw the audience's attention to them. Or, in a battle scene with a large army, if the main characters are fighting in the middle of the army and the sound of the people around them is turned up while the sound of the main characters is turned down, the audience will not be able to understand what is going on. For each cut, we select "what we want to show here," and guide the audience's eyes by determining what sounds to add and what not to add, and where to raise the volume level and where to lower it. The key to sound effects is "what to make stand out. --What did you discuss at the effects meeting with the sound director, Hitoshi Akedagawa? Koyama: Basically, he left me in charge. That is the kind of work I do most of the time. Animation sites are made up of professionals in various fields, so each person's work is based on trust. Especially for "Tensura," I think the range of OKs is quite wide. I am allowed to stretch myself, so it is a very fun place to work (laughs). The slime is a mixture of live sounds and instruments to make it sound pretty! --Koyama:What kind of sound effects did you add to Rimuru in creating the sound effects for "Tensura"? Koyama: First, I discussed the direction of the slime sounds with Yasuhito Kikuchi, the director of the first stage. Especially in the first and second episodes of the first season, there are almost only slimes. If we added too much graphic sound, it would not be cute, but if we made it sound like a cartoon (an overseas children's animation), it would be too cute. So I mixed in some instrumental sounds to keep it from sounding too cartoonish. I thought it was the key sound of the whole piece, so I worked a lot on the slime sound at that time. --The slime's various movements have sounds attached to them, such as bouncing, squishy, rolling, and sliding sounds. Koyama: If we had stuck to one sound, it would have been too simple, so we changed it for each important part. The sound when the rimuru moves lightly is actually the sound of a "drop of water. Or "the sound of shaking water in a bottle. When you process the "sound of water in a bottle," it becomes a rather sci-fi sound. When Rimuru sweats, I add more watery sounds, and when he moves a lot, I mix in other sounds as well. When Rimuru jumps, I add a "spring sound" so that it doesn't sound too cartoonish. When landing, I add a timpani-like sound to the raw sound so that it is not just a raw sound. If we use only raw sound, it would be too realistic, so we mix various sounds to make it sound cute. --Koyama:When the character is startled, you can hear the sound effects of the robot's movements. Koyama:When they are surprised, we add eight-bit beeping sounds. When the slimes do facial expressions, I mix the Eight Bit sounds with live sounds to match their reactions. However, the sounds I used for Rimuru are not used for the other characters. Rimuru's sounds are exclusive to Rimuru. --Koyama:Do you use the same sound effects for Rimuru in "Tenshûra Nikki" as you did for "Tenshûra Nikki: Tensei Toshi Wa Slymu Datta Koto Tenshûra Nikki"? Koyama: The same sound effects are used in "Tenshûra Nikki" as in the main story. We have to show the audience that we have the same worldview, so even though it is a spin-off, the sound of Rimuru is the same. --What kind of sounds did you make after Rimuru took on human form? Koyama: After she takes human form, she sounds like a normal human being. I put on the sound as a girl. Rimuru is in some ways unrecognizable as a gender, but I make the sounds according to her body shape, weight, and appearance. Recently, her body has gotten a little bigger, but I don't think I will change the way I put girlish sounds on her. --Rimuru is the main character that keeps changing. ...... By the way, is the way you put sound effects different for boys and girls? Koyama: Simply put, the weight of the footsteps is different. For girls, the footsteps are lighter. I also try to add gentle sounds when it is a girl. But that's just a difference in nuance. In fact, Rimuru is the strongest, so I put on intense sounds for the battle scenes. --How did you go about adding such sounds to the various monsters and animals that appear in "Tenshura"? Koyama: In "Tensura", the monsters are basically voiced by recording. We often add our own sounds to them. For example, in Ranga's gag scene, we added a lot of sounds to the dubbing. --I heard that Chikahiro Kobayashi, who plays Ranga, recorded his barking and squealing during the postrecording. Koyama: That's right. Mr. Kobayashi did all the acting, and his voice alone was interesting enough, but we wanted to create a gap in the scene, so we added the dog's spoiled voice and sniffles as ad-libs on top of that. I did that in the first few episodes and it was well received on the set, so I made it a regular part and have been doing it ever since. As a result, I ended up doing more work myself (laughs). (Laughs) -- So, the monster-type stories are a combination of the cast's acting and Mr. Koyama's sound effects? Koyama: When Veldra first appeared, I had the impression that it was a gag, so I added heavy sounds to every movement and made the weight of its movements into a gag. --Verdolla reappeared at the end of the first part of the second season. Koyama: It finally appeared. But the revived Verdra was in human form, so ...... maybe we won't use that heavy sound of the dragon in the future (laughs). When putting on sound, it's best not to know too much about the settings and behind-the-scenes --Koyama:If you had to name one more characteristic of "Tensura", it would be the ticker tape (the commentary scene by the Great Sage). Koyama:I would say another characteristic of "Tensura" is the ticker tape (the commentary scene by the great sage). The ticker tape is interesting. I personally think of the scene of the Great Sage as a setting where the supercomputer must be doing some amazing calculations, and I add sound effects to it. As Rimuru grows up, the Great Sage gradually becomes more aware, and it becomes not only cool but also humorous. When Rimuru makes a mistake, we add a sound effect like "booboo" to make it sound like a gag. --The scene in episode 35 of the second season, when Rimuru evolves from the Great Sage to the King of Wisdom (Raphael), was a real drama, including the sound effects. Wasn't that scene a tough one to work on? Koyama: Yes, it was. But the most difficult scene in the second season was the battle scene between Hinata (Sakaguchi) and Rimuru (episode 30). The drawings and cutting were good there, and moreover, they hardly speak during the battle. There were many cuts where the pictures and effects took center stage. It was an episode with good sound effects. --Koyama: The drawings were great.
Koyama: The pictures were amazing, so I wanted to make sure the sound effects were as good as the pictures. There were a lot of sounds, but we also put a lot of energy into it. --When Rimuru triggered the "Gratony," there was a very slurping sound. Koyama: It was the image of slime running amok. I gave priority to the image of the sound. After being involved in this project for such a long time, I have an emotional attachment to the main character team, so I felt like I was boosting and cheering on the main characters with the sound. -- "Tenshura" is also a world of swords and magic. How did you go about adding sound effects to depict magic? Koyama: I think it is better not to know too much about the settings and backstories when creating sound effects. Especially with sound effects, it is easy to get tied up in backstage settings. For example, when you are creating the sound for a robot, you might say, "Actually, it is not a robot. It is powered by artificial muscles." Even if the robot looks like a robot, we have no choice but to create a different sound. When dubbing (the final process of sound work) is done, they would say, "Something is missing. Moreover, I think there are some settings that can be understood if you read the original work, but it has to be communicated to people who only watch the animation. In order to make the most of the anime pictures, I try to put as little information as possible and give priority to the inspiration of the pictures (images). --In the second season, there were particularly large-scale magic activation scenes. What kind of image did you have in mind when creating the sound for "Megiddo" in episode 34? Koyama:For "Meggido," I mixed the "sound of shaking water in a bottle," which I had added when Rimuru moved. There was an element of that in the picture, and I thought it would be interesting to hook it there as a sound. It is a light sound, but what it is doing is disastrous. I created the sound with that kind of balance in mind. -This was a rather shocking scene with 15,000 soldiers being slaughtered. So you had to make a lot of adjustments to balance the way it looked. Koyama: There was no gushing blood in the picture, so we didn't make any blood sounds either. The scenes of Jinno's anger were drawn lightly, so we added quite harsh sounds in the other scenes. Especially in the scene with the three otherworldly people (Shogo, Kirara, and Kyoya), I added loud sounds. --How did you go about adding sound effects to "Tensura Nikki"? Koyama: The overall concept remains the same, but the director (Yuji Ikuhara) wanted "Tensura Nikki" to be a little less explanatory in terms of sound. He wanted to express a relaxed everyday life, so even with camera work, he did not use sound. However, the number of sounds did not change much because we added detailed sounds to the movements. --The second part of the second season is about to begin. Koyama: I am looking forward to it. I'm anxious to see where the story goes from here, so I hope you will continue to do more and more. I hope to continue "Tenshura" as my lifework. Basic attacks in my opinion should sound strong if the character is strong but it shouldn't be constant *BASS + REVERB* for every hit. Save it for Ultimate moves or just powerful magic in general.
I liked the thinking process. I don't like the results. He's too rough for my taste. I don't think he makes great use of distortion, it is usually overused to a point you realize there's plenty of it, and even that being the point, I think there are better and more clever ways to achieve powerfulness that just distorting the shit out of everything. Of course that's his signature style and I respect it, I just don't enjoy it.
This is a great opinion! I like that you can respect his style, even though it's not your cup of tea. The distortion and red-lining the master is definitely polarizing in terms of enjoyment, lol. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! Which sound effect is your favorite?

I'm sure Deathless Inferno wouldn't disappoint you
Yasumasa Koyama's sound design + Yutaka Nakamura's impact frames = Godly scenes
This is facts! I would love to assemble a dream team of animators and creators and have them make an anime. The final result would be so epic! Haha, thank you for watching!
God I love this man so much
He might not be objectively the _best_ at sound effects, but he's by far my favorite
I agree with you 100%!! It's always a blast listening to what he's been cooking up, haha. Thanks for watching!
@@DrewMalouBtw I'm 25 minutes in to the video and unless you really screw the pooch in the last 10 minutes, this is easily your Magnum Opus
Edit: you didn't. That ultimate one was insanely good
I believe this guys inspirations come from a perfect blend of 3 places.
- Earrape memes for obvious reasons
- Electronic music for the punchy bass and kick-like sound effects
- Massive industrial accident LiveLeak videos for their shocking, nasty, gritty dissonant tones (especially the last one)
LOOOOL That.... That pretty much describes it perfectly. Haha, thanks for watching, and giving me a good chuckle!
Haha, I had the exact same reaction as your brother the first time I heard these sound effects, lol. My jaw was on the floor! Thanks for watching!
Funfact, there are multiple instances of Koyama incorporating the "bruh" sfx into fire forces scenes. There is a whole video on TH-cam about it.
YES!! Haha, the man is a meme lord, lol. Thank you for watching!
@@DrewMalou It was a great video, keep up the good work!
Thank you so much! And will do! 👍
@@DrewMalou I have watches half of the fate series lol, will check re:creators then ty

@@DrewMalou it's my pleasure for sure!!💪🏼
Do you know the names of the animes featured in the intro esp the 4 Boeings one and the mecha ones esp the blue white bot shooting stuff
19:22 I like how he just decides to use metal pipe dropping on the ground meme for Gus' attack, which funnily he use Bruh sound effect for Fireforce so who knows how much meme is this guy secretly using
Bahaha, for real!! Koyama is definitely a meme lord, lol.
this man singlehandedly made me decide to change future career paths
Haha, that's awesome!! I don't blame you. The man is a legend!
19:45 I don't think it's the repetition. That hunk of metal sounds empty. It's like he's swinging a large pipe, not a solid chunk of pure destruction
That's a good point! It definitely has sounds like he's clapping someone with a cast iron skillet rather than a Giga-Sword, haha.
I couldn't control myself when Gilgamesh did that.
Hahaha, I couldn't either! Such a cool moment. Thanks for watching!
this was your best vid yet i think!!
I think it _is_ apt. Especially since he uses peaking audio, which is like a straight parallel to lens flares
That's a great example! Koyama's sound effects make me think of J.J. Abrams' use of lens flares in the first Star Trek film, looool. Those flares were going crazy.
the lens flares in Transformers go so CRAZYYY
It's about time someone made a video essay on this unsung hero of sound design. His products always have a cinematic feel that makes even normal anime battles feel larger than life.
Yes, I agree! That's very well said. His sound design definitely elevates the animation to new heights. Thanks for watching!
Gotta get the Ufotable + Cloverworks compositing, Mob production, Koyama sounds, Sawano music and Yutaka animation. Heck even Murata drawings if we can.
That would be the most legendary crossover in animation history, lol.
this is some peak high quality video and deserve millions of likes
Thank you so much! That's so kind of you to say. 🙏
As someone who has no idea about sound design, you made this video really easy to digest and I fucking love it

i gotta thank you for repeating gil's enuma elish attack again after showing it once, man i love the sfx so much, i just genuinely listen to sfx every once in a while gaming cuz why not

Truly a master peice of a video that I'll never forget!!
Thank you so much! Haha, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for all of your continued support!
Yes!! That's a great point. So much story and personality in his sound design. I love his work!

Omg this video give me a heavy nostalgia bcus u also included some of a gem anime in this video well since Koyama also work on those anime. Been following u since ur first fire force video. Keep it up bro

I could be wrong about that, but I hope that's how it all works out!
bro what like every single one of my favorite shows was sound desgned by this guy i had no idea
Yeah! I know what you mean. I had no idea he worked on so many shows that I enjoyed until I started studying him. His portfolio is crazy! Haha. Anyways, thanks for watching!

I'll definitely be pointing my audience to your channel in the bibliography.
this is why i have notifs on

That's awesome!! I definitely need to check those out. Thanks for the recommendations!
YASUMASA KOYAMA INTERVIEW:
INTERVIEW TRANSLATED:
The most important sound effect is to guide the audience's eyes
--The anime "Tensei Takera De Slyme Nadatta Koto" went on the air in October 2018.
When putting on sound, it's best not to know too much about the settings and behind-the-scenes
--Koyama:If you had to name one more characteristic of "Tensura", it would be the ticker tape (the commentary scene by the Great Sage).

Can you do one on the DBZ sound effects and how they've changed for Super? In my opinion they're a lot worse.
That's an interesting concept for a video, so thank you for the idea! However, my Patrons are the ones who get to choose which video I make next!
What anime at 00:51 =?
I believe that is from Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works, if I recall correctly. Thanks for asking, and sorry it took me so long to get back to you!

@@MarshallMcGee You're very welcome! I watched your Star Wars seismic charge video first, and was so impressed by your approach to copying it, haha. Such a cool idea! And yes, this video was quite a doozy to make, and I will definitely do more sound design content in the future. It's too fascinating not to, haha!

Well I hope you brought some fresh undies, lol. Thanks for watching!
berserk sounds fine to me…
Honestly, I kind of like the sound design too. I feel like those harsh grating metal clangs fit really well. Thanks for watching!

DIOOOOOOOOOO!!!! 😁 Hahaha, thanks for watching!
I think his sound design is great at conveying power, speed, or impact very well however its really Over done sometimes- and really over done *A LOT* of the time in other shows. Basic attacks in my opinion should sound strong if the character is strong but it shouldn't be constant *BASS + REVERB* for every hit. Save it for Ultimate moves or just powerful magic in general.
Sound design like this makes me *NUT*
Well, I hope you brought some clean undies. lol
Honestly i dont like. Sounds too inorganic and distorted for something like lights and beans should be
Yeah, I know what you mean. But it's precisely because it sounds like that that I do like it, haha. Anyways, thanks for giving it a shot!
