The Divers of Mostar

After a long coach journey from Dubrovnik, which included three separate passport checks, I found myself in Mostar, a place best known for a splendid 16th-century arched bridge built by Suleyman the Magnificent.
Destroyed in the bitter civil war of the mid-90s, and beautifully rebuilt now, Stari Most is a symbol of the divide that remains in this community. By some accounts, only tourists pass over the bridge easily.
The locals prefer to stay on "their side" of the Nerevta river, with two of everything - hospitals, councils, phone companies, the lot.
