Exactly. In high school choir we sang a song in Xhosa, it’s SO difficult to do the clicks and such if it’s not something you grew up doing! We had to sort of use surrogate sounds to get as close as we could, but it was not nearly as clean as it should have been!

As a classically trained opera singer in several different children choruses I have only heard one person sing the queen of the night successfully and that was an amazingly talented 14 year old black singer. I’ve never seen an Asian decent singer perform it but I’m absolutely in awe

That boy singing queen of the night? That was me at that age, I had a seven octave vocal range. Then I started smoking like the idiot I was, thanks to peer pressure, and my insanely misguided belief. The other kids would think I’m cool. From that very first puff, my career as a singer was over, because I became addicted and smoked for over three decades. I smoked mostly out of stress, after being diagnosed with severe Crohn’s disease when I was only 20. I went through 37 surgeries, and the only thing that calm my nerves were smoking, or so I thought. I know better now, but it’s too late, that vocal range is now limited to maybe two if I’m lucky, raspy, and just absolutely horrific, and it’s my own fault for being so stupid. I don’t want to sound preachy, because I know I wouldn’t listen when people kept telling me to quit, but I’m speaking from experience, not to mention nearly dying four times because of it, it’s a dead end, especially if you want to be a vocalist. I had something special and I threw it away. Unintentionally, please, don’t make the same mistake I did, because you have to live with that regret for the rest of your life, and it absolutely kills me that I was that stupid! You only get one body, treat it well, and it will do the same for you, I guarantee it!

I don’t want to sound preachy, because I know I wouldn’t listen when people kept telling me to quit, but I’m speaking from experience, not to mention nearly dying four times because of it, it’s a dead end, especially if you want to be a vocalist. I had something special and I threw it away. Unintentionally, please, don’t make the same mistake I did, because you have to live with that regret for the rest of your life, and it absolutely kills me that I was that stupid! You only get one body, treat it well, and it will do the same for you, I guarantee it!
I also lost my amazing voice to smoking. I cannot imagine where I’d be now 😔

But we had to learn the hard way, because when I was young, I remember everyone telling me smoking will ruin my voice, and I didn’t believe them, now I just kick myself! I am so stupid, I had offers not just requires, but for a recording contract, but because I was only 15, and was scared out of my wits, I didn’t think I was ready, so I said no, biggest mistake of my life!

@@naledi1431 No. What made her special was standing in front of a bunch of people who have ZERO exposure to clicking languages, and, therefore have never seen/heard anything like this. Plus she has a good voice besides.

Sure, probably the world had never heard the click song which is why they'd call it alienated, but I can assure you that even the judges as shocked as they were have heard the song before.
